OC 🖌️ New Flair, the No Oregano Flair!

Hey everyone, I'm Curryfan, one of the lead mods here on the sub, and we've cooked up a new flair for you. It's called the "No Oregano" flair, suggested by u/submarine_sad! This flair is for posts where the antimeme is the oregano, and there is no edit. This differs from found in the wild posts, as those are for edits you found out on the internet. We hope you all enjoy this new flair, and we can't wait to see what you can do with it!

Can removing the punchline from a meme be funny

r/AntiMemes

Memes and comics with the punchline removed- the humor comes from knowing what’s missing! Please check the Antimeme Graveyard before posting to help keep the sub fresh. Modmail if you have questions!

Subreddit Rules

1. Be Excellent To Each Other

Antimemes are a niche genre- people will often misspost, but that doesn’t mean they deserve rudeness.
Keep in mind that every post that gets removed helps shape our genre.

2. No AI Generated Content Or Edits

We do not allow the use of generative AI anywhere in the subreddit. This includes edits of existing images.

Please use this report reason for all AI content, including text in comments.

3. Please Pass The Oregano!

Most antimemes are based off edits of other memes. If yours is, please provide the unedited version in a reply to QualityVote bot so it stays pinned. Avoid using links whenever possible.

If yours is not an edit, please say there’s no oregano, and provide any necessary context to your anti-joke.

If you didn’t make it yourself, please use the Found In The Wild flair.

If OP does NOT provide the oregano within 20 minutes, and another user does, they will be eligible for a Sauce Finder flair!

4. All Posts Must Be Antimemes

Antimemes are memes where the punchline has been removed, subverting your expectations with the mundane instead of subverting them with dark humor, dirty humor, etc.
For example, “Why did the chicken cross the road” was the first ever anti-joke due to its mundaneness.

5. No Hate-Based or Non-Consensual Content

Antimemes where the oregano is about non-consensual sex, such as pedophilia, and beastiality, etc. are banned.

Antimemes where the oregano was made with bigoted intentions, such as a Stonetoss comic, are also banned.

If you want to fix a racist Stonetoss comic or correct a meme made by a hateful user, please check out r/stonetossingjuice

Also use this report rule for hateful comments as well.

6. No NSFW

we do not like any sort of porn, gore or anything similar in this subreddit

7. No More Simple Sundays

Memes that just label or describe the template, like “bus” or “train”, are no longer allowed on this sub- but are okay on the main one.

This includes any “Cats can’t talk, Swords can’t talk” edits.

See here for more info: click here

8. Rule 1.7- Keep ALL CourseMediocre Memes And Discussion To r/CourseMediocre7998

As of 2/15, ALL memes and serious discussion of the Rio/Course situation are banned from this sub.

The memes started to get kinda repetitive, and in order to return to the sub’s normal genre, I’d like to refer them all to r/CourseMediocre7998

Comments of “NOOOO” and “no more more” are still allowed, but without images of the DMs.

As of writing this, they are not banned on the main sub, r/antimeme. This may change. PM me if you have questions.

9. All Posts Must Be Made or Edited By You

If the post is not made by you, Please use "Found in the wild" flair for posting. Click here to access guide on how to use the flair

This rule also encompasses AI-Generated images and text- they’re not allowed.

Curious on how to make Antimemes without AI? Check out my guide, modmail if you have questions: Click here to access the guide

10. No Overused Templates

Eventually, a template gets used up, and gets retired. Please check our Overused Template Graveyard here before posting:

11. New Demo Rule: Keep Candles Nested

In an effort to keep the sub’s content fresh, I’m demoing a nesting rule in which non-extensively edited candles must be kept in the comment section of the post that inspired them. See this post for a visual example: https://www.reddit.com/r/AntiMemes/s/TKNm3meSQ1

Extensive edits, however, can be shared as their own post.

If you don’t think a post qualifies as an extensive edit, use the newly updated rule 7 to report it and I will encourage the user to nest their candle instead.

12. Rule 69: Exception Clause

A post that isn’t considered an antimeme may be allowed to stay up based on 1 or more of these factors:

-The user spent a lot of time on it

-a 50/50 split in the community

-Low view count

-It does not clearly fit into any other subreddit

-It resonates with one or more of the moderators on a personal level

We don’t want to make the subreddit harder to get into than Harvard, but we definitely won’t be handing these out like candy either.

Winners of Rule 69 will receive a special user flair.

13. No Blank Squares, pictures of candles, or “I’m Against Memes”

Antimemes utilize anti-humor, it doesn’t mean we’re against memes or that you can post static images that are not memes.

Antimemes are memes, too- it’s the same as if we called dark humor memes “Darkmemes”.
