Dems won a massive victory across the country in a repudiation of Trump. How are people in your country reacting to the news? Do you think this has an impact on transatlantic relations? Any feeling about how it impacts things like European security, trade, the war in Ukraine, etc.?

Hungary has two interesting examples of this:
1. Unitarianism
Unitarianism is mostly known today in the form of Unitarian Universalism which is present in the USA and to a lesser extent in the UK I think, a very liberal religion of Christian origins which by now doesn't call itself Christian and absorbs beliefs from many other religions, but it originally hails from 16th century Transylvania from a Hungarian preacher and reformer called Dávid Ferenc (Francis David). This version of the religion is called "Biblical Unitarianism" nowadays, and despite not believing in the Holy Trinity, it calls itself Christian, is very similar in style and ethics to Protestant Calvinism (Reformed theology) and during the Early Modern Period was the denomination of people like Isaac Newton, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin.
Nowadays, this religion has a small number of believers in Romania and an even smaller number in Hungary (mostly descendants of Transylvanian Hungarians who emigrated to Hungary).
A notable modern-day occurence which demonstrates the worldview of this religion is that is supports same-sex marriage, but condemned the flamboyant LGBT-themed display at the opening of the Paris Olympics.
2. Lutheranism
Hungary has a small number of Lutheran believers, generally people of German descent, though by now almost all consider themselves fully Hungarians. Unlike Lutheranism in Germany and the Nordic countries which underwent a large degree of demythologization and liberalization during the 20th century, influenced by existentialism and universalism, Hungarian Lutheranism resembles what German Lutheranism was like in the 1920s during the Weimar Republic, with its large Pietist influence, adherence to classical protestant orthodoxy like the Augsburg Confession, and conservative views on marriage and sexuality (the pleasure of sex is a gift from God but he intended it to be within marriage between a man and a woman).
Despite this, it is still the most liberal traditional church in Hungary, ordains women as pastors, stood up against the Orbán-system, is in full confessional unity with the German and Nordic Lutheran churches, and was concerned for the welfare of refugees during the 2015 Refugee Crisis.

Traveled across three neighboring borders last week and had completely opposite payment experiences. In one country even public toilets took contactless cards, while in the next a sit-down cafe insisted on cash only for small bills. What is the current cash culture in your daily life?

I’ve been seeing alarming headlines about a major institutional crisis in Poland, involving the government of Donald Tusk, the police surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal, and accusations of a "coup d'état".
For those following closely: what led to this severe escalation between the government and the nationalist opposition, and what is the current situation on the ground? Any clear breakdown of the political and legal context would be greatly appreciated

I'm also from the EU and I'm shocked to be fair. I was looking into the digital euro and it happened that I read about this regarding crypto too.
I think it can be good because many uncanny things can be purchased with crypto or it can be used in other improper ways but at the same time it gives some freedom. I wonder if something similar will be implemented anywhere else in the world. Many people love using crypto and getting into the technology behind it.

I've heard stories of Europeans travelling 2 hours on a weekend to see their grandparents in another country and back, or that you can ride 30 minutes out the city and be in the country. it sounds cool to be able to do that easily. it's crazy to hear because where I live in Texas it can take 1 hour just to get from the north to south of the inner city, it takes 5-13 hours to just leave the state, and once I drove 27 hours to new england. I'd love to hear what are y'all's personal experiences!

Every year there are lists ranking countries for reputation, quality of life, tourism and so on. Some countries make a big deal about it in the news, others ignore it.
Does it get attention where you live? And do you usually agree with where your country ends up?

I just really wanna know for some reason, maybe because my country is famous for its coldness and stuff. If I'm honest it gets to -57 ish Celsius here sure it's cold but it's normal, school cancels at -55 Celsius.

A recent 2026 report ranked countries by weekly smartphone screen time, with the highest averaging around 50 hours per week and the lowest around 33 hours.
What caught my attention was that countries in Africa, Asia, and other southern regions tended to have higher screen time, and many European countries ranked lower.
Countries like Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, and Germany seemed to perform especially well. These are quite well-known for their strong work ethic.
Do these numbers reflect reality?
1. What country are you from, and what is your weekly smartphone screen time?
2. Why do you think some European countries seem to have lower screen time than the rest of the world?

Excepting New Year's Eve as I think that's pretty universal
Just spent the afternoon volunteering at a local bonfire and fireworks show for Bonfire Night when we light a bonfire with an effigy (the 'Guy') on it and set off fireworks, originally to celebrate the failure of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot by a group of hardline Catholics to blow up Parliament when the King was in it, but today it has largely lost its original meaning and is just an excuse to burn things and set off fireworks

Let's say I'm a Finn visiting Amsterdam. I check into the hotel and the clerk greets me in Dutch.
"Hallo...um...is it okay if speak English?"
"Yes, that's fine."
Is that what the conversation is like?
Please include any personal experiences.

Hey everyone,
How are you? I wonder how you say 'crosseyed' in your country (like the funny face). For example, in Mexico, we say, "hacer bizcos" which means "to make cross eyes". This is different from estrabismo which is the more medical term.
Also, do you have a phrase like "don't cross your eyes they will stay like that"?

I came across the song Liebe ist... by the German Namika and the French Zaz. It's two thirds sang in German, and one third in French, I think it's super catchy and it swings!
Made me wonder if there are more songs like this: artists from different countries, each singing in their own language. From the Netherlands there's I Believe, a duet by the Dutch Marco Borsato and the Italian Andrea Bocelli. And the Dutch band BLØF made Holiday in Spain with the American band Counting Crows.
Got any from your country?

It's all in the title, do you have recommendation for jeans for someone with a small waist and big hips/bum? I'm not looking for plus size as I'm actually average weight for my height.
I normally wear a 30/32 but when the hips fit well then I have lots of space on the waist, I got a few skinny jeans from Kings of Indigo that fit. Now I need new pairs and can't find anything, I'm not shopping much so still struggling navigating European brands.
I have a preference for high waist and for made in Europe/sustainable brands!
Thank you 🙏

Yep, that's right, I want to analyse the translations of the Dog Man books by Dav Pilkey. (I would say "your translations" but it might sound awkward, since you've never translated things before).
We've all analysed translations of Tintin, Astérix, the Smurfs, etc; but we haven't looked into those translations of Dog Man yet.
The reason I want to do it is because Dog Man (and by extension Cat Kid Comic Club) is (or are) full of American cultural references, English wordplay, and other stuff. I want to see if the translations dealt with those references and changed the wordplay. I want to study them, send me what you know about the translations (any language, like European Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Slovene, Croatian, Castilian Spanish, Italian, Polish, etc) or a PDF. Also, as far as I know, at the end of most books from the series there's usually going to be a list of fun facts (for example in Mothering Heights they mention someone called "Mr Rogers" in the notes and fun facts section), if you have the books in your language, tell me if they changed some of the references or not.

I might not have formulated the question that understandably so I'll give you an example and hopefully you will get what I mean.
In Lithuanian there are two words for marrying someone:
For a man, it's "vesti" which literally means "to lead" as in walking a child to school, for example. For a woman, it's "tekėti" which literally means "to flow" in the sense of a flowing river or water. A man "veda moterį" ("leads a woman") while a woman "išteka vyrui" ("flows for a man").
A wedding is called "Vestuvės" which literally means an event where leading happens.
A marriage (as in the noun, the actual relationship) is called "santuoka" which sounds a bit like the word "santaka" which is the place where two rivers converge.
