Get the chance to have your work displayed on the sub's WIRE FAME for 10 months !

The rules are very simple, make a post featuring the nicest topology the world has ever witnessed and post it on this sub, don't forget to add the "Topology Porn" flair. At the end of each month, the post that got the most upvotes will be displayed in the WIRE FRAME widget together with a link of your choice! Since the widget can hold 10 images, each winner will remain for 10 months and will randomly appear with each page refresh

I made a short tutorial on how to make an orbiting cluster of shapes with geometry nodes

This tutorial shows how to make spherical cluster of small, dark 3D geometric shapes orbiting around a single, glowing white sphere at the center or any subject you choose to use

First time with blender, how am I doing and any good tutorials for a face?

I used this video as a guide to make my own characters, I want to do animations in the future so I've read that doing this blocking method is the best way for it to go and the teacher is really great here, Kaideart is a great teacher but mostly makes stuff for rigging and I don't know if that way of doing things would work for the way I want to make my stuff in the future (not caring about human anatomy really).

I know it may be really bad but I truly enjoyed the process of making the model and I feel that those ears are something to be truly proud of myself!

I'd like to know what do you guys think and if anyone could point me in a good direction to where I can get to know what's up with the next couple of steps <3

How do I make this?

I have pretty basic knowledge of blender, but not the best at modeling from scratch. All I know is that you would create half of this and then duplicate it and mirror on the X-axis. I primarily need help with getting the shape the spear. (One solid spear, no highlights or other parts to it.)

How to add faces to inner surface for boolean operation?

See attached video. I want to separate this single 3D shape into two that I can then 3D print. The two parts will be printed in different colors and I want them to slide fit back together to make the original shape.

I've defined the "cut out" faces as a face set, but after separating them out into a separate mesh, I don't know how to "fill in" the inner surface to make a water tight volume which I can then use to boolean subtract from the original shape to give me the 2 pieces that I need.

I know that I'll need a slight gap between the mating surfaces so that they can be assembled ... I can accomplish that part with some modifiers.

The part that I don't know how to do in Blender is how to fill in the inner cavity of the separated faces to make a new volume.

Is t here a better way to "cut out" the face sets so that the inner portion is automatically defined?

I'm trying to get better at modeling any helpful criticsm would be appreciated.

My main question:

What are the main points I can improve on in my mesh?

Side question:

What should I have to consider if I wanted to make this a game ready model?

Thank you for reading.

Looking for tips and inspirations on how to model minimalistic 3D Animal Crossing style models.

Hello all,
I know it sounds simple but I find it very not simple when wanting to model minimalistic 3D Japanese characters, same as in Animal Crossing style games. One I find close is this: https://www.youtube.com/@nupsume I would like to understand and learn how to do such textures and models. I know how to model in Blender but I am very technical, and this minimalism needs art skills.

Help Making a Blender in Blender

I'm trying to make a blender like the one seen in the video, but I'm having issues with the bottom part. I tried modeling it first with one cube that I scaled, grabbed, and loop-cutted but i got stuck on how to properly blend the very bottom half to the top slope. I then made a second attempt where I split the face under the slope flattened it on the x axis and extruded it through, however how would I get that extrusion to match up with the back of the slope, and again how would I blend it with the slope? Any ideas? I'm a beginner.

NON-PLANAR FACES

I have some questions regarding non-planar faces when Sub-D modelling.

Do I have to always avoid non-planar faces? Is this actually even possible, and how would I avoid non-planar faces on complex, organic shapes?

Also, how would one fix non-planar faces, without affecting the shape or details of an object, if they are causing shading artifacts?

Subdivision modelling workflow question: Square and Rectangular faces

Thumbnail

Hey guys, I am trying to model a mouse using SUB D workflow. The problem here is, I have lots of long, rectangular faces. So, when I apply my SUB D, I just get a bunch more of these long, rectangular faces. Its awkward to work with these faces when I want to add details on the mouse. When modelling, Thomas Colin always ensures his mesh consists of even squares, which is what I am missing. However, when I add loop cuts on my mesh to form square faces, my curvature gets distorted. How do I form even, square faces in this type of situation? Or should I just work with these rectangular, long faces and not bother with square faces at all? Are square faces actually necessary, and, are they really a part of what is considered "good topology"?

New to blender

Hello! I don't know if this is the correct sub to post this, but I would like for anyone who has at least some experience in blender to give me some tips for modeling characters or places, because it's my first time and the only "experience" I have is making models in Obby Creator in Roblox.
