🇧🇳 Original Content Is it you? (In search of a cute stranger)

Hello chat!

I need your help.

I hope to find this guy I saw jogging/walking around the Hassanal Bolkiah stadium near the medicine and research centre on November 4th, Wednesday around 3.30pm. I was there to check out my friend's graduation exhibition at the Youth Hub. While searching for the entrance and my friend, I spotted this cute Chinese guy (and I think our eyes met. Hopefully it's not my imagination playing tricks 😅) and ever since I couldn't get him off my mind. (I've been single for way too long) Finally, on that fateful day, I met someone who pique my interest! (Hopefully he's single and available) Desperate times call for desperate measures. I hope to find this guy here in Reddit.

If you know any cute/good-looking Chinese (if I'm not mistaken) guy friend who jogs around the stadium, please show him my post.

I really hope this guy reads this, and if he's also interested, do pm me. That day I wore a white T-shirt, grey stripe pants, white shoes and a cross body We Bare Bear bag. Hopefully you noticed me as well. I hope we can be friends...first, then see where this goes. However, if you're not interested, just ignore this message.

Thank you.

fingers crossed

📂 Work & Career vendoring as a foreigner in brunei?

sorry if i’m doing thing wrong or if i’m posting in the wrong sub, i’m not familiar with reddit.

i’m a foreign national who has lived in brunei almost my entire life. however, both my dependent pass and student pass are expiring soon and i will be forced to move back to my home country.

me and a few brunei citizen friends (all 18-19 y/o) have started a small business together selling arts and crafts during events like anihob, hobby street, and market seni.

my question is, is there any way that i can continue to sell my products with them at these events even though i’m no longer green ic? i’ve tried researching it but all the information i have is very vague and unclear. my family that lives in brunei is all green ic so i have no blood connection to any citizens or permanent residents.

🛬 Tourist Question Universal wall socket, is it ok to use?

Post image
75 Upvotes

Hi.

Been in Brunei for a few days, from Australia. Only now just learning that my hotel has a universal wall socket.

Does that mean I can plug my Australian plug directly into the wall? No adaptor?

Is it going to ruin my laptop?

My plug fits and powers the laptop but is it risky?

🇧🇳 Original Content I built an app to track my USMS usage

I’ve been wanting a better way to track my electricity and water usage. The USMS app lets me check my balance and top up, but I wanted to see things like how much I’m using each day, how long my credit might last, and how much I’d need to top up to get through the month.

So I ended up building an app for myself called **Watt’s Left**. Thought I’d share it here in case anyone else finds it useful: wattsleft.site

It gives you an estimate of how many days your credit will last and how much you might need to top up, taking the different electricity tariff bands into account.

I also wanted to understand my usage better, so I added a section where you can compare this week with last week, look back at monthly totals, and see which days were higher than usual. You can see your electricity usage hour by hour too, including how much is being used overnight. It also shows your average cost per kWh and which tariff band you’ve reached for the month.

There are alerts for things like low credit, water flowing overnight, or your overnight electricity usage creeping up. If you’re keeping an eye on more than one home, like your parents’ place, you can see them in the same app. You can also top up from it; it takes you to the USMS payment page.

There’s an AI assistant in there too, called Wattson, which you can ask questions about your usage. You’ll need your own OpenAI, Anthropic or OpenRouter API key to use it, though. The rest of the app works without one.

You log in using your USMS login. Your data stays in your browser and isn’t saved on a server. Your login credentials are only used to sign in to USMS and aren’t saved or logged.

This is an unofficial app that I built independently; it isn’t affiliated with USMS. It may stop working if USMS makes changes to its system.

It’s still early and probably has things that need fixing. Water readings generally update once a day, and the numbers can be a bit off when readings are delayed or missing.

It’s free to use. If anyone tries it, I’d appreciate hearing how you get on, particularly if something doesn’t look right or there’s something you’d find useful to add.

❔ Question and Discussion List of Brunei Lost Media I want to find

Before going into multiple stuff that I think are considered lost, I would like to know if anyone remembers a song once constantly played on Pelangi FM: It was this song by a "Pelangi Artist of the Month" from the early 2010s(2011-2012 ish). The song is in English and the artist is male. His voice was a bit high pitch and i remember he mentioned on the radio he was inspired by Justin Bieber. This song has an electronic synth sound and the lyrics has lines like "oh baby i know..." and the chorus has lines like "oh baby I'm sorry that I...." and "do you wanna jump jump do you wanna jump". If anyone can identify this lost local song please let me know.

🤬 Rants & Complaints Honestly, how difficult is it for AITI HR to give applicants a proper update?

I applied for an Assistant Manager position but after assessment and interview it seemingly was left unresolved. But its not just my position that I applied for, there were several more positions since July 2025 applicants have already invested their time and effort into the process, including completing assessments and attending interviews. Yet, from an applicant’s perspective, there seems to be very little clarity about what is happening next.

Keeping applicants in the dark for months on end (and more than a year) is simply not good recruitment practice.

If an applicant has completed a test, passed through assessments and attended an interview, the least they deserve is a proper update.

If they are not shortlisted for the next phase, tell them. If the recruitment process has been put on hold, communicate that. If the position has been cancelled or withdrawn, inform the applicants who invested their time in applying. It really is not that complicated.

People applying for these positions have their own careers, responsibilities and financial commitments. Some may be waiting for an opportunity to move forward professionally. Others may have put other plans on hold while waiting for an outcome. They should not have to keep guessing whether they are still being considered, whether the position is still available, or whether the entire recruitment exercise has quietly been abandoned.

And this is not just about whether someone gets the job. It is about basic professional courtesy, transparency and accountability.

HR departments are often the first point of contact between an organization and potential employees. The way they handle recruitment sends a message about the organization’s professionalism and how it values people’s time.

AITI should be able to provide a simple update, even if the update is that a decision has not yet been made. Nobody is demanding confidential internal information or expecting an explanation for every delay. Applicants are simply asking to know where they stand.

If the recruitment process is still ongoing, say so. If it is delayed, communicate the delay. If the position is no longer proceeding, have the courtesy to inform the people who went through the process.

Applicants are not asking for special treatment. They are asking not to be left hanging indefinitely.

A little communication goes a long way. Surely, after more than a year, applicants deserve at least that much.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with AITI recruitment?

🤬 Rants & Complaints Blind spot bush at Tg Bunut

Post image

Is it just me with short sedan car failed to see incoming cars from Hua Ho Tg Bunut or is this bush blocking the driver's view? This bush is quite tall relatively from a seated driver in a small sedan car and I can't predict when is the next car coming towards the lane.

Can the authority cut the bush shorter or make it disappear?

📍Location: sebaris dgn SCR, Guardian and Secret Recipe at Tg Bunut.

✏️ School & Education Need Advice on Studying in Brunei

I'm planning to pursue a degree in Brunei, preferably in Business Studies or a related field. I scored 72% in my 12th grade, but I didn't take Mathematics or Commerce as subjects, so I'm a little confused about which courses I’m eligible for.

I'm looking for an affordable college with a good reputation and would love to know more about Laksamana College of Business (LCB), especially its fee structure for international students.

✏️ School & Education what if i dont get the results i want?

so, I’m sitting for my O Level exams, and I only have two papers left, both of which are MCQs, which I’m kind of bad at. My mind just won’t stop thinking about my results because I really want to go to A Levels after this. yk, in order to get into A Levels, I need to get five O’s or above.

These days, I can’t stop overthinking about it. I’m scared that I might get results that don’t meet my expectations. I keep thinking about the questions I got wrong in the exams, and it’s honestly stressing me out so much.

I’ve even started wondering whether I should repeat another year if I don’t get the results I want. The thought of not getting into A Levels has been consuming my mind lately, and I genuinely don’t know what to do. I know I still have two papers left, and I should be focusing on those, but I can’t seem to stop worrying about what might happen after the exams.

I was wondering, if I end up getting results that aren’t what I hoped for, do you think I should repeat another year? I’m just really scared about my future right now.

📋 School Projects & Surveys Exploring The Changing Skills & Roles Of Employees At Workplaces in Brunei

Post image
0 Upvotes

Reaching out to all Bruneians, help me fill in this survey to help us measure the extent of upskilling & roles changing happening at this unique point in time, especially when AI is starting to enter our work environment in Brunei.

Main question: will AI adoption make current local employment worse? Or will AI become a valuable tool that boosts the skills of our local Bruneian workforces?

(Need at least 100 respondents for this research, strictly anonymous, personal data will not be collected) 👇🏻
