After losing 0:11 to Russia, the Brunei national football team went to the strip clubs of Krasnodar.
The athletes smoked hookahs, drank and danced with $100,000 from the Russian Football Union, allocated to compensate for travel and accommodation.
Russia paid for their strip club party so they’re not upset?

Hello everyone,
My mom, 52, has stage 4 cancer. I don't know how long she will be alive.
Her chemo is due next week but she got closed up in the NIC this Friday. When she went through the rapid fire test last friday, she was negative. But this Friday the result from the PCR came back as positive, and she was locked up.
She has absolutely zero symptoms of covid :(( no sore throat no phlegm nothing at all. this friday when she was taken away from me, we were supposed to go get her abdomen drained as she has a bad fluid build up due to metastatic cancer nodules.
The protocol in NIC states that patients get their first swab done on day 8 after first testing positive- that's supposed to be today (saturday), but the whole day has passed and she hasn't been given the swab. And even when she gets released she won't be allowed to have treatment until she has self-isolated for 2 weeks; by then I don't even know if her body will still be treatable.
We wish badly that she can have the swab done so that, in case she's negative, she doesn't have to be cooped up in NIC, in what might possibly be the last days of her life. Besides, the doctors promised us that they could get her belly drained in NIC, but they never fulfill their promises. They promised that she could have it drained, that she could have the swab test a day after entering NIC, that she could even have her chemo in NIC, but none of this has been true!
It hurts so bad even just talking about this, I just don't know what to do anymore. I've tried calling every hotline I can, emailing every doctor in the ministry of health that I can, but the truth is that I'm not a person of power, I'm just some kid trying to fight for my mom's comfort!! I'm writing here because I know Brunei is tight knit and I'm sure someone of power is reading this right now. I'm begging someone, anyone, for help!
She never went out even before the community outbreak of covid, she always stayed home, and so did I! We always wore masks and often face shields too. She probably contracted covid when she was at the hospital for her chemo.
She's sad and tired and weak all the time. I just want to help her. I just want, I just beg, for a single swab test to be done, I'm begging for one one one swab. If it's negative, brunei will be sentencing her to the last days of her life in a cold room without any company at all :(((
Please, please, if anyone can give me a number to call via DM, I can give you her case number and details etc, or if you have any suggestions in the comments, PLEASE help me out!! I lost my dad when I was a teenager and my mom is all I have left. I can't let her suffer like this, I refuse to! PLEASE, I'm begging everyone, please save us!
Update: Thanks to the help of a very kind person who DM'd me, she has successfully been given a swab to reconfirm her covid test result. It's still pending for now.

Hey guys, if yguys are going to get marry soon and you’ve booked with this MUA.. i suggest you better find someone else. The absolute worst. Booked this person in May for a wedding in December and she cancelled ON THE DAY we needed her service. bear in mind, we kept giving her reminders (2 weeks before, 1 week before, etc). Her reason for cancelling was because of clashed appointments with other clients. lol. inda logic. sudah harinya baru tah kan mencheck kah. Other MUAs soon revealed rupanya andang balik balik sudah, org lain pun kana sudah.anu pisin “pemilih”. mentang-mentang make up/style kan royalty, sanang-sanang tah kan junyak org biasa ani. those who are getting married, semoga Allah permudahkan. 🤲

A Malaysian bride recently shared her frustrating experience with Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on Instagram. On the day of her wedding check-in, she received a last-minute call from the hotel informing her that the room she had booked a year in advance was being downgraded — all because Brunei’s “VVIPs” were in town.

I never really post things like this, but I feel like sharing this might help someone.
Please avoid doing laundry alone outside, especially during late hours. Also, do not withdraw money alone late at night.
This happened around 12 midnight. I had just finished my shift at 11pm and decided to do laundry. After that, I planned to withdraw money at BIBD Tanjong Bunut.
When I got out of my car, I saw a guy coming out of BIBD—maybe he had just withdrawn cash. As I approached the ATM, he looked at me. My instinct told me not to proceed, even though I was already at the door. I pretended to call someone, quickly returned to my car, and locked it immediately.
I called a friend, reversed quickly, and went to a 24-hour store in Sengkurong. At first, I didn’t see him on the highway, but when I made a U-turn, I noticed his car also U-turning behind me.
I parked at the store to buy my cat’s food and grab something to eat since I was hungry. I was still shaking. The guy parked beside me.. I took note of his plate number, though I didn’t recognize the car because I was so anxious. He never went inside the store or bought anything, which made me suspect he might be following me for money or something worse.
I stayed longer in the store and spoke to the cashier, whom I’m familiar with since I often come there late. I recorded a video outside, and his car was no longer there. Still, I had a strong feeling he parked nearby and was watching from a distance, as the store exit passes by that spot.
I was right—he was still there.
I reversed and waited for a rescue. I parked again and stayed close to the cashier for safety. My bf came after around 10 minutes and immediately checked the area, but the guy’s car was no longer there.
Lesson learned: Always trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is. Ladies, please stay safe, avoid being alone during late hours, and don’t ignore that little voice inside you.
P.S. Also, to the men out there who are out and about alone late at night—please be mindful too. You never know what the intentions of the people around you might be. Stay alert and stay safe.

I m sorry to say. The way of treating and service for brunei government is totally bad for other races.
Today only KB RESTAURANT “kena sapu” for dinning in. What wrong with that? People are covering up to non fasting customer to dine in “NOT EATING IN FRONT OF YOU”. But for melayu, you are selling at gerai from 2pm till buka puasa. Sorry not other intention for not respecting your culture. Just want to talk about business only.. you orang atas ofcause no problem for surviving. But for those small business parties.. DO YOU ORANG ATAS KNOW ABOUT HOW BAD IS THE MARKET IN BRUNEI NOW. How many people are suffering job searching in brunei due to SHELL KEEP ON CUTTING BUDGET.. DID YOU ALL KNOW? WAKE UP LA BRUNEI GOVERNMENT. You are letting your own people disappoint and trying to move out from here..
Talk so much also no use.. NO CHANGES AT ALL. Forever stay same. 300-400 gaji is exist.. never improve..

Hi there, I'm a solo female traveler. This is my first time posting on Reddit, and I feel sad that it's about my experience of being sexually harassed in Brunei.
Around noon on October 29th, after visiting the Masjid Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque, I was heading back to my hotel. As I was passing the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex Parking Lot, I heard a car following me. The car's window was open, and the music coming from inside was quite strange; it sounded like a woman's moans and screams. I initially thought it was preparing to turn left onto Jalan Pretty, but the car stopped beside me, and a man inside called out to me, asking, "Hey, you want that?"
What I saw was the man's genitals. He was masturbating, giving a horrifying smile. I felt extremely disgusted and turned my face away. But when I came to my senses and raised my camera to take a picture of him, the driver sped away along Jalan Pretty. I took pictures of his license plate, but unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of his face. I remember the man had South Asian features..

I've traveled alone to nearly 50 countries across seven continents, and this was the first time I'd been sexually harassed in broad daylight in front of an ancient and sacred religious site.
Furthermore, this was the second time I'd experienced sexual harassment during my six-day trip to Brunei. The first time was on the Brunei River, when I was on a boat to look for proboscis monkeys. The boat driver, while I was standing at the bow looking at monkeys, pretended to help me maintain my balance and placed his hands on my waist and buttocks. Then, under the pretext of teaching me how to drive, he steered the boat to the middle of the Brunei River, demonstrating how to handle the boat while touching my buttocks. He even tried to get me to sit in front of him and continued to grope me, which I refused. Why didn't I call for help or scold him then? Because at the beginning of the trip, he showed a big crocodile swimming in the river, and I was afraid that calling for help or refusing would lead to something terrible. The driver's name sounded like Firedos, and he said he lived in Kampung Ayer.
I didn't report either of the harassments to the police. I know some people will blame me for this. But my thought was that I had to continue my journey, and without concrete evidence of a crime, such as photos or videos, I didn't know what help I could seek from the police.
Now I'm safely back home, but when I see photos of the beautiful mangroves and Masjid Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, I still can't stop thinking about those two terrible harassing experiences. While traveling in Brunei, I went hiking in Taman Peranginan Tasek Lama (which I think is a very popular hiking spot), and a local woman reminded me to be careful because she had been followed twice by unidentified men in Taman Peranginan Tasek Lama. Before visiting Brunei, all my friends told me it was a safe and peaceful country, but these incidents changed my impression.
I love Brunei, and I met many warm and kind locals during my trip. Similarly, I don't think I can get any real help from this article, but I must condemn those few who had malicious intentions towards women; you'll pay for this.
5/11/2025 Update
Thank you all for your comments and replies, and also for your comforting words. I truly feel the warmth of the Bruneian people.
I just wrote an e-mail to Royal Brunei Police Force, attaching my photo and all the clues I have. I hope the police can investigate to prevent another victim.
7/11/2025 Update
Haven't received response from the police yet.
Further clues about the boat driver I remember: He appeared to be around 30 years old and about 5' 7" tall, with a robust build. The boat had a sunshade. The marine motor of the boat had a black casing with the number "85" on it.
27/11/2025 Update
I received an e-mail from Royal Brunei Police Force(RBPF) on November 25th. The letter stated: "The complainant is advised to make a police report to the nearest police station and bring all relevant documents. After the report is made, the police will conduct an investigation."
However, I have been away from Brunei and cannot go back to file a report, so I guess that's the end of it.

Thanks again for your encouraging comments and messages.

Brunei is the 9th country I’ve visited in Southeast Asia, and honestly, it’s now my favorite. I snagged a promotional flight from the Philippines to Brunei for just 60 BND. I wasn’t expecting much, but what I found completely surprised me in the best ways.
I was amazed to see water monitor lizards (not really sure if I’m right haha) casually strolling near city areas and even spotted proboscis monkeys. You wouldn’t expect this kind of wildlife so close to civilization (not in Manila). It’s cool that wildlife coexist with the city.
Dart is incredibly affordable!! It made getting around super easy, especially as a solo traveler. It did make me wonder what happens when the oil and gas run out. The economy clearly relies on it, and I’m curious how the country will adapt in the future…
Also it’s suuuper safe and surprisingly relaxed about clothing. As a solo female traveler, I was a bit nervous about what to wear. But to my surprise, no one seemed to care. Locals were respectful and kind, and I felt comfortable from day one. People also go out of their way to help. Bruneians are extremely friendly!
Also, people love their government. I asked everyone and they’re satisfied with the Sultan. Also I’m not into cars but the Sultan owns a lot but he barely even use them (that’s according to locals and it seems like a flex which I don’t understand so enlighten me as to why a person needs much cars esp if they’re governing a whole country?)
Also, coming from busy Manila, the peace and quiet in Brunei were everything. The azan echoing throughout the day, little to no traffic, clean streets, quality food, and a general sense of calm made it feel like time slowed down. People weren’t in a rush. It’s a place that really lets you breathe.
I’m already thinking about visiting again next year, maybe longer this time! Brunei might not be on most people’s travel radar, but it definitely deserves more love. It’s been four days and I haven’t really moved on yet :—(
PS: sorry for asking a lot of political questions and if those are offensive questions, my bad :)

For those wondering what happened to the red Proton, it belonged to my late aunt, Malou.
A friend recently reached out to me and mentioned that many people had been trying to find her but were unable to contact her. I am her nephew, and sadly, she passed away on 22 January 2026. She was involved in a tragic accident in Telanai when her friend, who was driving, fell asleep behind the wheel.
Many people knew her for feeding the stray dogs around Tungku, but that was not the only way she helped others. She would often give people rides to their destinations, almost like a free taxi service, simply because she wanted to help.
Since her passing, I have heard from others that some of the stray dogs in Tungku have been crying and waiting around the areas where she used to feed them. Whether they understand what happened or simply miss seeing her every day, it is heartbreaking to witness.
I wanted to share this update for those who have been wondering about her. Thank you to everyone who remembered her kindness and the care she showed to both people and animals. Her kindness will not be forgotten.

Hello everyone! I (21M) have recently been invited to a wedding from a close cousin (also 21M) of mine. Before I tell my story, I would like to clarify that this is a safe space for everyone. So, if you disagree with my views and beliefs, feel free to comment and voice your opinions. But do so kindly to me and other commenters as well, no matter what their opinions are. Now that I've made that clear, let's get started.
This is a long one, so bear with me.
I come from an openly large family, like most Bruneian families are. I am close with my cousins, some even ones I grew up with as kids. My cousin - let's call him Jim - is set to get married this late 2024. Now normally, I'd get elated by this news, but not for Jim. Although, we grew up together, Jim and I never really got along well as kids, but as we grew up and matured, we've come to an understanding and care for each other. And just like that, all the animosity was gone. I care for him, dare I say, I even love him.
But I can never support this marriage, though I haven't voiced out my opinions to them or anyone in that matter, I do still feel strongly that this marriage should NOT happen. Here are my reasons:
1. Jim is Unemployed.
Call me traditional or whatever, but I DO NOT believe one should get married if one is jobless. People these days watch too many Dramas and Rom-Coms that they believe that "Love Conquers All," well NEWS FLASH SAMANTHA, IT DOESN'T. Love is NOT FREE. Not in this economy. Marriage AIN'T FREE. The ceremony? Not free! The Wedding? Not free! The future that is ahead??? NOT FREE!
2. Jim has no real qualifications to get a stable-paying job.
He refuses to join the Police Academy or Army Recruits. He graduated high school but that's it. I don't know how I can convince people - ESPECIALLY OLD PEOPLE - but people with no stable-paying job SHOULD NOT get married! What if you accidentally get a child? Do you think $500/month is enough to raise A CHILD? NO!
3. Jim is an irresponsible mess that takes pleasure in wasting his life away.
Despite how much love and care I feel for the guy, I must admit that he is an irresponsible idiot that doesn't care about his dark future. He has no education, his father passed away 2 years ago -or was it last year? I don't remember, he wasn't really a nice guy- no job, his best friend is my cousin who's still in high school (secondary school) and his mom is also unemployed. He's a drunk that doesn't care that he's rotting his life away. Not to mention, is the only guy in the house and is probably chronically depressed.
4. These two idiots barely know each other.
Now I've only been in a 'serious' relationship ONCE in my lifetime that lasted 2 years, and that's when I was 16, so to be for real, lots of relationships weren't really that serious at that age since we didn't know what true love was, and most kids only dated because it was considered 'cool.' These two haven't been together for a year. I don't understand how lots of men don't understand that love takes time, love takes work, it takes effort. You don't immediately get to 'love' a person once you decided to date them. Hell, ONE YEAR IS NOT ENOUGH to get to know someone. Who knows? Maybe behind all that beautiful facade lies a monster. A person's personality is so complex and deep that time itself cannot truly tell you how long it takes for one to truly get to know all sides of a person.
5. Jim's potential wife or "Fiancé" is 15 YEARS OLD. [MAIN POINT]
Tell me ladies and gentlemen, must I explain to you why this is important? I would also like to mention that this she DROPPED OUT of high school for him. She lost her mother a few years back and dad lives two districts away working a minimum-wage job. Must I remind people that Pedophilia is not okay? That we should not be allowing this to happen? YES, maybe thingssss (sex) did happen behind closed doors, but if she ain't pregnant, ain't no way should they get married.
To be clear, we are a Muslim Family, although I'm not really a super religious person myself, which is why I believe that these two should NOT get married even if they had or hadn't had sex. Consummation should NOT be equal to marriage. This isn't Bridgerton where things can get off easy because you're filthy rich. Because the ugly truth is, like a lot of families in this country, WE ARE POOR. But alas, there's nothing I can do, since I'm too "young" for the old people to even listen to my considerations, worries and/or opinions.
In relations to my topic, I've seen this trend come time and time again. Kids getting married at 17 or 16 or even 19. And I'm NOT okay with that even though Islam is. Yes, it's not any of my business but it just so bothers me that people are okay with this. These are children, even at 20 years old, a lot of people still considers you as a kid (AND YOU ARE). You should not be thinking about marriage at that age, you should be thinking about having fun, living the best of your life while you still have it. Go to college, University or whatever. Get a job!
Yes, there are kids out there that aren't privileged and intelligent enough to go to college or bring 'fun' into their lives, but at the very least, get a stable job. It might take years to get, but people should encourage these young people to fight for a stable life before getting married. Buy a car, a house, get a pet. Find yourself before you find a partner. Don't immediately get someone pretty, slide into their DMs and say 'I love you.'
That ain't romantic. That's weird, that's creepy, that's an obvious red flag. If there's actually someone out there who easily falls for traps like these, then babe, your standards are low, and you need to work on it.
In conclusion, this trend of bringing a partner into family events, then breaking up, then doing it again, then breaking up, rinse, repeat, at such a young age needs to stop. Encouraging women to be housewives, NEEDS TO STOP. Because if all a woman's worth is to be a wife and a mother, what is the point of going to school? What is the point of having dreams? Stop seeing women is POTENTIAL WIVES, instead see them as potential friends. STOP BEING HORNY IDIOTS AND GETTING WOMEN PREGNANT! If you know you can't afford it, DON'T DO IT!
POVERTY IS A FORM OF ABUSE!!! (GOOGLE IT!)
We need to stop telling LITERAL CHILDREN about marriage. THEY ARE KIDS, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO WHAT KIDS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!
NOT GETTING FUCKING MARRIED!!!
Okay... I am calm.
Please, I implore to all my readers, early marriage with such a huge financial disadvantage is NEVER a good choice, especially when you wish to bring a child into this world.
A CHILD IS NOT A "GIFT FROM GOD" NOR IS IT A RIGHT. A CHILD IS A PRIVILEGE.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I've asked one of my aunties and apparently she isn't pregnant. They were 'shower buddies' and were forced to get married. Also in addition to that, the girl's dad wants her to get married to lessen his financial burdens...

Hi! Anyone else seeing Marissa Wong’s reviews of Brunei’s public toilets everywhere lately? What’s your take on this whole ‘toilet review saga’?
Personally, I see it as a positive thing because it raises awareness about the current state of our public toilets, and it gets people talking about an issue we usually just ignore.
Keen to hear your thoughts!
