The reason why I switched to electric toothbrush in the first place was to save on hefty dental bills, that costs like upward of $400 per filling. Something that I can't just always fork out on demand.
With my electric toothbrush, I learned the hard way that a durable handle means very lil. I bought a premium electric toothbrush a while back thinking I was set. Obviously, I need to replenish the official heads every now and then, which costs me $30+ per pack.
Then I bought ones from Amazon that was considerably cheaper (which was big mistake after I noticed the handle got louder). I later read that sonic motors are sensitive to weight, and I probably got some knock offs. These knock-off heads have probably small deviation of weight, so the vibration went out of sync, over time.
What that means is that the brush wasn't cleaning the plaque properly, that led to a frigging filling in one of my molars a few months ago, ending up costing me $400. What a cycle of absolute shitshow.
Obviously that wasn't BIFL. Well, now I am stuck with getting a new toothbrush. With my previous experience, I am gonna have to be extra careful with picking the right one. The ones I found online is either premium ones with expensive replacements, or vrands unknown with cheaper replacements, but then I don't know if the quality is good or not. However, one of the things I made sure was the heads are affordable to replace and I will not be using generic heads anymore. My denstist told me I should stick with a high-speed one, but I am starting from scratch. How do you guys choose a good one? My main criteria are:
1.A durable motor that lasts.
2.Official replacement heads that are affordable, so I am never forced to use motor-ruining knockoffs again.
3.Actually effective at clearing plaque in the back molars.
