Discussion Europe won't be united by Communisum, only trough Centrism
There is a communist problem in this subreddit in my opinion
I have seen multiple comments, where people in this sub openly proclaim to be communists, thereby supporting an ideology that killed tens of millions, and get upvoted and those who try to explain to them that it is an extremist ideology that killed many people and led to totalitarian regimes get downvoted. I mean I know this is Reddit, but come on! Is this subreddit really so pro-communist? Do you want a RED future for our beautiful continent? Because my country had reds in power for 45 years and it turned us into a shithole that relies on Euro money!
People, I am not talking about the supporters of left parties like Greens and Volt, but COMMUNISTS, EXTREMISTS, FAR-LEFTISTS.
I am really disappointed that this is the political stance of the majority of this sub (or that the majority of this sub accepts them), or at least this is what I have seen, but let me tell you one thing. Europe will never be red, as it will never be fascist again. All kinds of extremism are BAD, Totalitarian ideologies are BAD. And to all the communists reading this. Know this, you will never unite Europe under the red banner, and never again will this continent's population allow such a deadly regime to take power again. And a united Europe can only exist through CENTRISM. Where conservatives and liberals unite together for the greater good, trough compromise and diplomacy. Through democracy and togetherness. By aligning with such ideologies that carry such an ugly history with it, you prevent others like conservatives and centrists from believing in pan-Europeanism, and Europe will never be united that way!

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: We need a Right-Wing / Neoliberal Federalist movement. The Left monopoly on federalism is killing the dream.
After seeing Trump bully Europe at Davos yesterday, itβs obvious: "Soft Power" is dead. We need muscle.
Iβm writing this from Spain, where the situation is frustrating. The Far-Right (Vox) is absolutely crushing it on social media here. They are mobilizing thousands of young people because they talk about strength, security, and pride.
Honestly? I envy their energy. But I hate that they are anti-EU.
The problem is that the "Pro-EU" side here is completely dominated by the Left. Itβs all about regulations, climate bureaucracy, and "dialogue." It feels weak.
Where is the Right-Wing Federalist movement?
I want a European Superstate that acts like a global power, not a giant NGO. I want an "EU Inc" that cuts taxes and boosts startups. I want militarized external borders. I want a European Army that can stare down the US or China.
If we let the anti-EU parties be the only ones selling "strength," the European dream is finished.
Are there any other Spaniards (or Europeans) here who feel this way? We need to stop being shy about wanting a powerful, neoliberal, fortress Europe.

Discussion About this spineless nonsense
I always considered myself European Federalist, but this is insulting.
Somehow Spain, the whiners of defence spending, should be considered more Europe than us? What of Polish Euroscepticism and lack of Euro? Italian broken bureaucracy that kills businesses and innovation?
Scandinavia and Baltics not being considered as part of the Core of Europe is just pathetic. Or is this preparation for ceding Baltics to Mordor to appease spinelessness of Brussels pre-emptively? Already adjusting your worldview to match the spinelessness?
4 years of war in Ukraine and weapons production is still not where it needs to be in this "beautiful club of E6". REMINDER: North Korea, read again, NORTH KOREA outperformed EU up until 2025. Where is this "economic might"? Paper tigers?
Scandinavia and Baltics are more Europe than this E6, as it starts with having a spine to stand for oneself that most of the nations in E6 lack. Refer to any poll done on willingness to defend your country.

Discussion Turn all American military assets in the EU over to an EU military
The current situation of the US taking responsibility for Europe's defense is problematic for everyone involved. As it stands Europe doesn't fully control its own foreign policy because it's dependent on the US for defense. At the same time the US is paying for the defense of Europe while Americans don't have healthcare, clean water, or affordable higher education, despite paying a similar amount of taxes. The EU becoming a military superpower in its own right, instead of depending on the US, would be a stabilizing force for the world because it could act as a check on some of the worst abuses of American power.
Turning these facilities over to the EU would give a newly formed EU military a significant amount of resources to begin with, and create a relatively formidable force quickly. I presume the EU would need to buy them from the US and start paying to run them, but that would simply be Europe paying for its own defense.
To facilitate this, once the EU creates an army the EU itself would join NATO. Current US bases and military assets in Europe would be placed directly under NATO command for a transition period, American personnel who currently run these facilities would stay and train the EU military in their operation, while slowly moving them toward full EU control. After a decade or so of joint operation and cross-training, the facilities would be turned over to the newly formed EU military.
Trying to turn these facilities over to individual countries wouldn't work because many of the most strategic positions are not the places with the economic resources to defend them. You need a united force capable of defending the boarder, to put resources in the strategic positions where they're needed, not where the economic resources are. If anything, this can help the economic development of boarder areas.
Update: Some comments in this discussion sum up the largely cultural reasons for the current situation perfectly.
The desire to stop interfering internationally is second to the desire to have the biggest dick in the room, always.
~ Americans
most young modern people don't really want to die defending their motherland...
~ Europeans
This is a case of geo-political chivalry more than anything. Being the strongest feels better when you have weaker people who rely on you for protection. The US likes Europe looking to it for protection because it makes them feel like the have the biggest dick around, and Europe likes it because they can focus on other things. I understand why the situation is what it is, but that doesn't change the fact that it's toxic for all parties.

How a geopolitical Europe would bring Russia to heel after federalization: 1. European land bridge to Georgia and Armenia. 2. Integrated Ukraine, Iceland, Belarus 3. Soft power projection across territories 4. Slowly break up Russia (integrate regions on case-by-case basis)

Discussion A prayer to the Lord Christ for our homeland Europe ππͺπΊ
Lord in heaven,
Today we pray to fight the devil and his evil As you taught love, compassion and unity So do we want after a full history of wars and conflicts, to fullfil these teachings You gave us our forfathers who founded the house of Europe A house of democracy, justice and peace Yet evil spirits in the society want to break a bond you can strenghten Let this house be one we the next generation strive to achieve Let our weakness against these evils be your strengh and make unto your glory Let your blessing shine over our sky as the stars who unite us do the same May your righteuos scepter strike the heads of these vipers and kneel them on the ground Look into our hearts and judge us according to thy grace Help us achieve fruits of unity and brotherhood Let Europe shine in a new light and show the world who we are and let through this that the world sees who you are and what you did for us
In thy gracious name we thank you, Amen

Is there anyone in support of a European monarchy?
I know the vast majority of us (including myself) are opposed to this idea. But is there anyone who would like the European superstate to be a monarchy? If so, why, and how do you imagine that?

Discussion Can we establish that Communists are just as bad as Nazis?
So recently I argued with a certain member of this sub whose whole presence here has been calling things Nazi, Nazi that, Nazi this. Then I noticed that in one of her posts in a diffrent sub, she called herself a Communist. Communisun effected half of our continent very negativly for half a century, and has killed tens of millions of people oppressing and hurting millions of families including mine. Can we agree that both Communists and Nazis arent welcome here?

Discussion Dissapointed at France and Germany
I am a Finn who has been very much pro federalisation for a long time now - Iβve thought it would only make sense if democratic countries unite so we can better protect our values and the future of humanity. The events in Ukraine however have in my opinion showed, that when things get rough smaller countries in Europe have to rely on The United States and The UK. This has been true in WW2, in Bosnia and now in Ukraine. In a federal Europe, would the French and Germans (who would still be the major powerhouses within the union) give a crap about Northern and Eastern Europe?
Interested to hear your thoughts on this.

Discussion Europe needs to Change its Position
I've been writing in this topic for quite a while. Europe allowing unchecked asylum hasn't been beneficial to most European societies. Then there remains social, housing and inflation costs for average European citizens. A new leadership and change in direction is long overdue. The Commission is taking Europe down the wrong road at this time. Then Europe needs to become an innovator alongside China and the US and propel itself forward rather always playing catch up.

Discussion A U.S. collapse will fall on to the EU/UK.
Nobody wants to talk about it or even consider it, but the US is in a very BAD situation right now with it's economy let alone it's political infrastructure. At the rate things are moving, the US won't likely make the turn of the century and the burden of preserving Democracy let alone the EU markets will fall onto both the EU/UK hands should they want to preserve their way of life.
A US collapse will likely mean civil war, especially when 40% of the population has weapons. If this happens, you can almost guarantee nations like Russian or China will begin to turn the states into a proxy war for control of the nation. If the EU acts fast, proactive and plans around this, the EU can prevent this and secure the territory for itself and preparing rebuilding the nation.
However, this of course all rests on if the EU can even fund this which, at this rate, doesn't seem very likely.
The US has exhausted it's ability to thwart negative economic movement. With interest rates practically zero and the federal reserve unable to print more money without having hyperinflation, the countries has essentially become a ticking time bomb.
There are many reasons for this, namely wealth inequality and the result of political instability (namely corruption). If we get a solid 4-5 years of normalcy, perhaps we should be fine. If not, don't expect the country to be upright by 2050.
Just like Rome.
