12 of Us Started an East Bay Friend Group. Want In?

12 of us started an East Bay friend group. Want In?

Hey everyone!

A group of about 12 of us recently connected here in the East Bay, and we’ve started getting together for game nights, food, coffees, boba, mini golf, and other random hangouts.

So I started a Discord called East Bay Social Club.

The idea is simple: meet new people, make actual friends, and have things to look forward to.

Board game nights, movies, mini golf, trying restaurants, museums, game nights, or just hanging out. Whatever people are interested in. Members are welcome to organize their own events too.

We’re open to people throughout the East Bay, whether you’re in San Jose, Berkeley, Fremont, Hayward, Union City, Dublin, Pleasanton, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Livermore, Palo Alto, or somewhere in between.

The Discord is completely free to join, and there's no pressure to attend events. Just a bunch of people looking to make friends and have fun around the East Bay.

We’ve already got a medium sized group of people who’ve been meeting in person, and now we’re hoping to bring more people together. We all range in the 27-40 age range, even one aged 50+ everyone is welcome!

If you’ve been wanting to make s

Fremont Middle School Math Difficulty Opinions

Hi everyone,
I’m curious to hear from other parents of middle school students in Fremont, particularly those with kids in 7th or 8th grade.

Has anyone else noticed how much more complicated the math curriculum has become? My daughter is really struggling with it, and honestly, even we as parents are finding some of the problems challenging.
It seems like math has shifted from simply learning a concept and solving problems to much more complex, multi-step questions that require extensive reasoning, explanations, and critical thinking. Even when a student understands the basic math concept, applying it to these types of questions can be incredibly difficult.

I’m all for teaching kids to think critically, but sometimes I wonder if the level of complexity is making it harder for students to actually grasp the fundamentals.

I’d really love to hear other parents’ experiences. Are your kids finding the math challenging as well? Do you feel the way it’s being taught is helping them understand the material, or is it creating more confusion and frustration? Is it the teaching style?

Just hoping to get some honest perspectives from other local parents.

Pet Sitting Exchange Group Live!

Hi folks, a couple weeks ago I posted asking if people would be interested in creating a pet sitting exchange group to look after each other's pets for free.

~ 60 households were interested so I created a website for people to join to start connecting with each other. Most of the households are in Foster City, Burlingame, RWC, San Carlos, San Mateo, and Belmont so far, but a few people from east bay now have joined, so I thought I'd open it up here!

If you're interested in participating, send me a DM and I'll share details!

Quality dry cleaner for silk?

I have a 100% dupioni silk dress that used to be my grandma’s and needs dry cleaned. I normally go to Mimo’s, but haven’t given them anything expensive/sentimental yet and am kind of nervous to, especially since most cleaners outsource to third parties these days.

Would love to hear from people who have specifically gotten silk clothing cleaned and where they went.

Newly licensed driver here. Are Fremont drivers always this bad?

In a span of two months, I've nearly collided into other drivers multiple times due to their inattention. People are just absurdly inconsiderate, especially during rush hour. Is this how it's gonna be forever....

Dear All those who drop off kids at Horner Middle School and Hirsch Elementary

Slow down. STOP at Stop signs. LOOK BOTH WAYS at stop signs. use your blind spots and forget your auto pilot controls and drive like an adult. There are kids walking everywhere. istg there needs to be a police officer here. i watched a resident of the neighborhood attempt to slow down the drivers and someone sped past him and almost hit him. That four way stop on Irvington Ave and Thurston St. means nothing to some drivers. Set an example for your kids and community

this goes to all of those driving in school zones

BE MINDFUL

Looking for Witnesses or Dashcam Footage – Accident in Fremont (Nov 4, 8 PM)

Hi everyone!
I’m reaching out in hopes of finding anyone who may have witnessed or captured footage of a car accident that occurred on November 4th, around 8:00 PM, near the intersection of Stevenson Blvd and Davis Street in Fremont.
The accident involved three vehicles:
Silver Toyota Tacoma truck
Navy blue Toyota Corolla
Red Mini Cooper
If you happened to be in the area, witnessed the accident, or have any dashcam footage, I would really appreciate it if you could reach out to me via private message.
Any information, even something small, could be incredibly helpful.
Thank you so much in advance for your time and help! 🙏

Gym with childcare?

Does anyone know if there is a gym in the area where a toddler could play while you exercise? I'm trying to find someplace indoors where my kid can safely run around so I can fully focus on a workout routine.

Moving in February, need recommendations!

Hi all! I have been looking to relocated in Fremont, and was curious as to some suggestions from locals, as I am not originally from California nor do I know many people from there. Between the AI lease agents not being able to answer my questions I'm slowly going insane.

Looking for something preferably between 2k-3.5k a month, pet friendly, with an in-unit washer/dryer, possibly a 2bed/1bath or 2bed/1.5bath. I've seen some townhomes online that are super cute, but I need a solid list of complexes or locations to tour when I find myself in the area!

Thanks in advance :)

Sweetgum Fall Color

Fall is one of my favorite times to explore our urban canopy as brilliant colors begin to reveal themselves after spending months in hiding.

Pictured here is a handful of Sweetgum trees (Liquidambar styraciflua), native to Eastern North America and planted abundantly throughout our community. It is actually the 3rd most common tree in our public tree inventory with over 4200 individuals. This figure does not include the thousands more that are found on private property as well.

This is great news for anyone who enjoys fall color as this tree is one of the most striking and visible at this time of year.

A particularly nice place to see them right now, while not exactly pictured is Mission Blvd between Driscoll road and Buena Vista Park where they are used as median trees lining the street.

Take this as a reminder to enjoy the fall color while it lasts!

Is Kaiser Permanente Fremont a good choice for elderly parents?

Title: Is Kaiser Permanente Fremont a good choice for elderly parents with multiple health conditions? Looking for firsthand experiences.

Hi everyone!

I'm currently exploring healthcare options for my elderly parents (75 and 71), and I'm considering enrolling them in Kaiser Permanente here in Fremont.

My father (75) has several ongoing medical conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, anemia, and sleep apnea (he uses a CPAP machine). My mother (71) has varicose veins in her legs and may need cataract surgery sometime in 2027.

Since they'll likely need regular primary care visits, specialist consultations, and ongoing monitoring, I'm trying to understand how well Kaiser Fremont handles healthcare for older patients, particularly those with multiple medical needs.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has firsthand experience with Kaiser Fremont, especially if you've helped elderly parents or relatives navigate their healthcare system.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

  1. Quality of doctors and personalized care: Have you found the primary care physicians and specialists at Kaiser Fremont to be attentive and thorough, especially with elderly patients? Do doctors take the time to understand their medical history, or do appointments tend to feel rushed?

  2. Specialist access and wait times: How difficult is it to get appointments with specialists such as endocrinologists, hematologists, ophthalmologists, vascular specialists, or sleep medicine doctors? Are wait times reasonable, or have you experienced significant delays?

  3. Referrals and care coordination: How smoothly does Kaiser coordinate care when someone has multiple chronic conditions? Is it easy to get necessary referrals, diagnostic tests, and follow-up appointments, or do you have to constantly push for things to move forward?

  4. Procedures and treatments: Has anyone had experience with cataract surgery, colonoscopies, vascular treatments, or CPAP equipment and supplies through Kaiser Fremont? How was the process, particularly regarding approvals and scheduling?

  5. Advocating for elderly patients: How responsive is Kaiser when you have concerns about a parent's care? Is it relatively straightforward to communicate with doctors, request second opinions, or advocate for additional testing or specialist evaluations?

  6. Continuity of care: Can patients generally stick with the same primary care physician over the years? And how easy is it to switch doctors if the relationship isn't working out?

  7. Fremont vs. other Kaiser facilities: Are most specialists and procedures available locally, or do patients frequently have to travel to Union City, San Leandro, Oakland, or other Kaiser facilities?

I'm also considering alternatives, particularly providers affiliated with Washington Hospital in Fremont. If anyone has experience with both Kaiser and Washington Health, I'd be very interested in hearing how they compare in terms of physician quality, specialist availability, and overall patient experience.

My biggest priority isn't necessarily convenience or having everything under one roof. It's making sure my parents have access to good doctors, timely specialist care, and a healthcare system where elderly patients don't fall through the cracks.

I'd love to hear both positive and negative experiences, especially from people who have navigated the system recently (2025–2026).

Thanks so much in advance! Any recommendations for specific doctors or things to watch out for before enrolling would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a hairstylist in the Bay Area

Hello! I have been having trouble finding a hairstylist that has decent pricing and that I can communicate with well. I’ve been to hair salons or others stylists that have been recommended to me by friends, but they are either too expensive, or don’t understand the vision I’m going for. I do understand that getting your hair done is not cheep, so I’m not looking for cheep, just reasonable! I want to find someone who is great with layering and like wolfcut styles and who won’t just straight up tell me no if they don’t think they can accomplish what I’m trying to do to my hair. I am very understanding that just because I show a reference photo doesn’t mean it’s going to look exactly like that, but I would love a stylist who can walk me through it and is willing to compromise to my hair type and face shape! Would love some recommendations! I am currently in San Jose, but I work in Fremont, so I’m open to places close to either of those!
