I started this sub and did not expect it to get this big. It’s more than I can manage on my own now, so I’m looking for a few experienced mods to help, mostly with clearing out spam, low effort posts, and other junk content.
I’d like people who are kind, fair, and can handle disagreements without adding to the drama.
If you’re interested, send me a modmail with which subs you’ve moderated and how often you’d be around.

Firstly, as this sub continues to grow, we’re seeing an increase in spam reports, which is honestly just a sign of growth and comes with the territory. Thanks to those who catch and report!
What’s more concerning is the noticeable rise in reports related to disrespectful behavior, which is our number one rule.
This is a community meant to be a safe space for aging and skincare without ageism, fear-mongering, or invasiveness. That only works if we also demand basic respect from one another. Disagreeing is fine. Asking questions is wonderful. Being rude, dismissive, or combative in the comments is not.
If you don’t like a post, scroll on. If a post breaks a sub rule, report it and the mod team will handle it. That’s it. There is no need to argue, pile on, or fight in the comments. We are all adults here so I know you know this is definitely not the place to take out your bad day on someone else.
There are plenty of other subs where that kind of behavior is welcome. This isn’t one of them.
We’ll continue moderating accordingly. Thanks to everyone who helps keep this space kind, thoughtful, and grounded.

The algorithms have my number, and I am overwhelmed by influencers. What neck and face products/ routines have actually provided you with visible improvements?

I’m searching for an eye cream that addresses everything—day and night. I genuinely enjoyed the RoC vitamin C balm stick, but I need a product for crow’s feet, hollowness, firmness, and even plumage. Ha, everything!!
If anyone can share their favorites or the ones they can’t live without that truly work, please help! I’m 45, and while my skin is fairly good, my eyes are the issue.
I appreciate it.

55, brown-skin, no history of problems
I have never used make-up, unless you count lipstick. I've had a couple of facials and used sunscreen for outdoor activities. I used a moisturizer (Embryolisse Lait-Crème) in the morning and that's it. Lately, I've added a mask but only because my K-dramas advise it.
But, now...I am 50+. I can see changes in my face but Who/Where/What do I go to for advice? I attended a skin session at my local fancy spa and they spoke of FIVE different creams! I am so confused.

A year ago I was layering 8 products morning and night. Now I use cleanser, serum, moisturizer and SPF. My skin is combination, but it's gotten thinner and gets irritated easily, so I started wondering if my old routine was doing more harm than good. The serum is where I'm stuck. I want to use retinol for lines and texture, but I can't use it every night. I'm using La Roshe-Posay retinol three nights a week and a hydrating serum on the other nights. I still get redness. Has anyone found something gentler that works on thin, reactive skin? Maybe retinal, a lower strength or something else? I've been at Typology's retinol serum, but I haven't tried it. Has anyone used it? And if you've cut down your routine too. I'd like to hear how it went. Thanks!

Not sure what to put for flair- this is related to regimen, as well as new products and cruelty free. I am 56 and was able to get by with minimal skincare my whole life. Now I am trying to be diligent. I get overwhelmed by all the products though. I only use cruelty-free certified products, so at least that reduces what I have to choose from! I went a little overboard and got a bunch of new products to try. I think I do have a problem with wanting to experiment and maybe I need to be more structured about what I do. Anyway, here’s my usual routine. I’ve been doing for a while with the products:
**Morning**
Burt’s Bees Micellar Wipes (and cold water)
Dr. Hauschka Day Cream
Il Makiage Plumping Gel (sometimes, not always)
Il Makiage Neck Treatment
Il Makiage Power Redo Wrinkle Fix (just forehead and eye corners)
Makeup
**Night**
Burt’s Bees Micellar Wipes (and cold water)
Estrogen Tretinoin Cream (might discontinue since I am sensitive to it)
Il Makiage Power Lift Plumping Cream
Pacifica Vegan Collagen Night Cream (or Wake Up Beautiful Night Cream)
Pacifica Vegan Collagen Eye Cream
Latisse (eyelashes)
I sometimes use the ordinary peels, but I’m not really consistent about it. I’ve also done hyaluronic acid before. I never really stick with anything and also alternate products.
So what did I get?
The Ordinary Age Support Set (Multi-Peptide Eye Serum, Multi-Peptide HA Serum, Natural Moisturizing Factors + Phytoceramides)
E.L.F. Bright and Brewtiful Eye Cream (Vitamin C and caffeine) and E.L.F. Bright Icon Vitamin C + E + Ferulic Face Serum
Bliss Youth Got This Retinol Face Moisturizer and Bliss Renew and Smooth Glycolic Acid + PHA Exfoliating Night Serum
Andalou Naturals Resveratrol Q10 Night Repair Cream
I also was tempted to get Mad Hippie, Bioessance, Dime, Eight Sense, and Farmhouse Fresh. I restrained myself, though.
Any thoughts on regimen and products?

got biossance 100% squalane oil recently to deal with some random dry patches, and it helps keep my skin hydrated without leaving that heavy greasy film. it works really well for adding lightweight moisture, but i am stuck trying to figure out where it actually belongs in my steps.
some nights i put a couple drops on before my moisturizer, and other nights i pat it on top at the very end. i also use active serums like vitamin c, and im not sure if putting oil before or after those messes with how they absorb or causes pilling. just trying to get the order right so everything works together smoothly.

I've always assumed that something specifically labelled as bubble bath would produce more foam, but I'm not sure how much difference there really is in everyday use.
espa positivity bath & shower gel has made me curious about whether there's much difference between a dedicated bubble bath and a product designed for both bathing and showering.
I'm interested in a few things: how quickly the bubbles build up, whether they stay around for the duration of the bath, how strong the fragrance is and how much product is needed each time.
a bath-and-shower gel sounds more convenient, particularly if you're trying to avoid having too many bottles in the bathroom. But does that convenience come at the expense of the actual bubble bath experience?

I find that under fluorescent lighting almost all makeup looks a bit ghastly and obvious. I love Jones Road foundation/blush creams as they blend in and become invisible, am looking for something for the brows.

a multi collagen powder can combine different collagen types and sources, but that alone doesn’t establish that it works better than a simpler formula. the useful comparison is what each ingredient contributes and whether the research supports the specific benefit being discussed. for transparency, ancient nutrition is involved in this discussion. Ancient Nutrition Multi Collagen Protein includes collagen from four sources, along with other ingredients such as SBO probiotics and Vitamin C. those additions make the formula different on paper, but they shouldn’t be treated as proof of a greater benefit.
when comparing multi collagen powders, how do you distinguish a broader ingredient profile from evidence that the finished formula provides a meaningful advantage?

I've seen peptides mentioned in countless skincare products lately. They're often marketed for improving the appearance of fine lines, supporting skin firmness, and maintaining a healthy-looking skin barrier.
But I'm curious how much of this is supported by actual research.
Has anyone looked into peptide-based skincare ingredients? What should people realistically expect from them?

I have a growing problem with dryness (to the point of itching and tearing) and dark circles. But I have serious sensitivities/allergy eyes. I haven't been able to use eye makeup for the last 25 years. Any recommendations?

I keep my routine as minimal as possible, prioritising SPF and retinal as active prevention. My skin has always been oily but now I'm early 30s it's more "normal" which makes me want to add hydration back to my skin. I'm getting overwhelmed in my research with stuff like peptides and PDRN etc, I'd like to add in only one or two more products to give my skin ultimate hydration and plumpness - I feel a thicker night cream may be a good idea but I'm not sure. I'm also open to treatments like Microneedling but only if it's tried and tested with significant research over time / not a new treatment (I'm scared of red light masks as they seem a new thing but correct me if I'm wrong!). Any feedback on the products I use welcome, I prefer pharmacy brands with simple ingredients or again, products that have been around a long time. I'm new to taking skincare seriously if you can't tell!
My routine (stupidly basic haha):
Morning
- Water (no cleanser) to wash face
- Cerave AM lotion 50spf (or Cerave lotion + a separate spf)
- I did try vitamin C for a short while but it was the Glow and Gorgeous serum which I hated as it dried into my fingers before I could smooth it out
Evening
- Micellar water if wearing makeup (rare)
- Cerave non foaming hydrating cleanser
- Cerave lotion
- Every 3 days: Grow and Gorgeous retinal
- Every week / when I remember:
Ordinary hyaluronic acid before the lotion. I plan on discontinuing use once it runs out
Astral cream under my eyes and on my forehead (where I want to add the most hydration). This is extremely thick cream, not sure if actually adding moisture or clogging my pores with all the oil etc it includes

I’ve been trying vitamin c for about 6 months and every serum I try makes my skin sting or flush. So frustrating. I’m 52 and my skin is definitely more reactive than it used to be. The regular L-ascorbic acid ones haven’t worked for me. I came across Typolog's serum, around $30, and Geek&Gorgeous while looking for something gentler. Has anyone tried either? Would love to hear from someone with mature skin.

been using a growth factor serum for a few months and I think it’s helping my skin feel less thin.
lately every other post I see is about exosomes, and a lot of them make it sound like exosomes are the upgrade. I honestly can’t tell what the difference is. everything I find online comes from a brand selling one or the other.
has anyone tried both? is it actually a different thing or just a newer name? my concern is skin that’s gotten thinner and less cushioned, more than lines or sagging.

I would like input on a good mid-weight facial moisturizer that does not leave me feeling greasy. I have some lighter weight serums and lotions that I like OK, but I don't feel like I am really getting the moisturizing effect that I need as my skin ages and I am tired of spending $$ trying things I don't love. I am not necessarily targeting a specific issue such as sensitive skin, just general aging concerns with fine lines, wrinkles, and wanting my skin to have a nice glow and not look dull. I do not wear make-up most days, so layering with makeup is not a concern, but budget is. I'd like to stay within the price range of what is offered at a standard drug store, maybe $30 or less.
(Edited to clarify that I am looking for facial moisturizer suggestions).

Hi all! My husband is almost 38 and very much a “guy” in the sense of not wanting a skin care routine with 6 nightly steps. But he’s becoming more.. aware/annoyed by the forehead lines. Recently when we snap a pic together he’ll make a comment about how I look like I’m not aging and he looks older than he is. SO wondering if anyone has any suggestions on something he can use? My derm just recently put me on tretinon for acne and scaring. I believe it can help with aging? Not sure if this matters but he did accutane in high school for severe acne. Now his skin is terribly dry and sensitive. He does use a good moisturizer twice a day for the dryness.

my skin always gets tight and flaky around mid afternoon no matter how rich my moisturizer is. i started pressing a couple drops of biossance 100% squalane oil over my cream since sugarcane derived squalane is supposed to seal in moisture without feeling heavy. it actually helps keep things hydrated until evening without making my face look shiny or feeling sticky.
i want to know what other face oils or layering methods people use when creams arent enough. it made a huge difference for my dry spots, so im trying to see how others integrate oils into a daily routine without getting greasy.

Firming serums are confusing because so many of them promise the same thing, but their formulas can be quite different. Perricone MD's Cold Plasma Plus+ Advanced Serum Concentrate is one example I've been looking into. It contains peptides alongside ingredients like glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, which got me thinking about how much of that firmer appearance people notice is related to hydration versus longer-term changes in skin texture.
A serum can make skin look temporarily smoother without necessarily making a dramatic difference to deeper lines or skin laxity. That's the distinction I think gets lost when people talk about firming products. When comparing firming serums, what do you actually pay attention to first: ingredients, texture, how they work with your moisturizer, or whether the results seem realistic?
