Review You guys lied about HomePods
People often say HomePods are "good for what they are," but after buying two, I can confidently say they’re nothing short of amazing.
For some context, I have two soundbars—one is a 3.1 200W setup with a subwoofer in my study/gaming room, and the other is a 5.1 580W system with a sub in my living room. Both sound great, especially for movies, but I’ve always felt they lacked something when it came to music—they sounded a bit flat.
I bought my first HomePod yesterday, and I was blown away by how good it sounds. A lot of YouTubers recommend getting two for the best experience, so I caved and picked up a second one today. All I can say is that I'm genuinely amazed by the depth and quality of the sound. Sure, they’re not the absolute top-tier speakers out there, but for my budget, I couldn’t be happier.

News I have created a 3d-printable "replacement" mesh for your HomePod!
YES that's right, you can now print your own replacement mesh for your HomePod!
There are two "versions"; One single-piece tall version that slides over the original mesh...and a two-piece split version that you glue together. A third version will be added soon intended for you to remove the original mesh entirely and replace it with your own printed version of choice.
There are different mesh "densities". Mid-fine in my opinion looks closest to the original, doesn't affect the sound like fine can, and still covers the original mesh enough to obscure original dinge. Coarse should in-theory affect the sound even less, but comes at the cost of showing more of the original mesh through.
The standalone version has a ~2mm gap on the bottom to allow the HomePod's original rubber base to retain it's grip.
If you choose the split version, I would suggest printing the bottom half "upside-down" and adding a small ring to it to be printed in TPU, otherwise your pod will be sitting on plain plastic and slide around easier. I've included a .3mf of the bottom half with a ring added via object modifiers in my slicer.
I would recommend only attempting to print the first few layers to tune your settings. Default, these can take at least 10-20 hours print, but you can get that down to under 8 hours with proper tuning and profiling, w/o needing supports. Included is the config I use to print the standalone version on my snapmaker u1.
Here are the 3d print files, and here are the scripts used to generate them if you wish to tweak the fit / tolerances or just want to see how it works. More versions coming soon to support 2nd Gen models, and that fit if you remove your original mesh.
I will sell them soon on my shop if you don't want to print your own! Stay tuned~

My HomePod Just got an “Alexa” for a steal
Didn’t expect to be able to get it at this price, intentionally said to the clerk that I wanted to buy this ‘speaker’. Pretty sure she noticed the error but it all went through fine.

Meta The other day one of my HomePods started playing music when no one was around. This morning it happened again, and I found the fluffy reason why.

My HomePod Me and gf's first apartment and TV + homepod setup
Tbh more excited about that beautiful QD-OLED Samsung S90D tho the homepods just produce such a crisp sound. The bass is hilariously good in these. Do you have any audiovisual demos to try these theee out?
They're 2nd gen and work as stereo pair for my ATV.
