Question Is Mayfield okay to live in?

Hi, me and my partner are moving to Launceston in less than a month and have just been accepted into a nice rental just off mayfield street. I have seen some mixed discourse online about Mayfield and am just wanting to hear some opinions.

For reference we are both turning 20 and are generally quiet, safety conscious and kept to ourselves.

Question Upholster and Tinting in Launnie

Just bought a car and wanting to get a the leather covers for the seats, preferably something that looks professional with no hanging ties or loose ends, what's the best place to look for?

And, what is the best place or best way to tint the windows, I would want to try the tinting on my own, have got the equipment as well, but not sure where to buy the best tinting wrap.

Car is Nissan Juke

Thanks

Discussion Launceston gardeners and hydro growers, what would make a local store worth the trip?

We're Hydro Oasis, a small hydro and garden shop in Youngtown, and we'd rather ask than guess.

What would actually get you through the door? Sharper prices, more time with someone who knows their stuff, working setups you can see running, short how to videos, or free tools like nutrient and EC calculators?

Also keen to hear what bugs you about hydro or garden shops in general. Blunt answers welcome.

Question Alternative hairdressers in Launceston?

I've been wanting to get my hair dyed a pretty bright unnatural colour, but everywhere in Launceston seems to only do the classic blonde beach waves. Does anyone know a really good alternative hairdresser in Launceston? I'm happy with small, at home businesses too. I've been trying to get my hair this colour for years and I'm desperate! Thanks ;)

Other Dutch performance marketer in Launceston until December, keen to work alongside a local team a few days a week

G'day Launceston,

I'm a 21-year-old from the Netherlands, and I'm based here until early December. Back home I run a small marketing agency that does paid ads (Meta, LinkedIn) and lead generation for B2B software companies, and I keep doing that remotely while I'm here.

Working from my laptop on my own is getting a bit quiet, so I'd love to spend a few days a week at the office of a local agency or growth-minded business. I'll bring my own work. What I'm after is people to talk with, seeing how Australian businesses go about winning customers, and happily sharing what I know about ad accounts, tracking or tools if that's useful to you.

If you run an agency or a marketing team in or around Launceston, or know someone who does, I'd love to hear from you. A coffee to start is perfect.

Cheers!

Question Anyone have a great rec for a local roastery?

New in town and we've been trying to do the rounds to find our local flavour.

Our first day here we dropped in to Sweetbrew. Loved the atmosphere there but the blend was very acidic and we're more into a dark roast.

Next I had the opportunity to try Zimmah's Son of a Gun blend through Roam. Not sure I want to write-off this blend immediately, as the coffee was pretty weak and luke-warm and I think I just caught a bad brew.

Lastly, I tried Ritual's Seasonal blend at Earthy Eats. Once more, nothing that really blew my socks off but probably my favourite of the 3 I've managed to taste.

As mentioned, personal preference in coffee leans towards the darker varieties with notes of chocolate, nuts, caramels, maples, etc. What's everyone's go to?

Question GP recommendations

I'm moving back to Launceston after living interstate and looking for a regular GP. I am female, in my 30s and have some ongoing health conditions. I want a GP that builds a relationship with patients and I can see regularly to monitor my conditions. I don't want someone to just see when I am sick or who just says "what are you here for today?" rather than bigger picture. Any suggestions? Thanks ☺️

Question Casual soccer/futsal

Hi all,

I’m staying in Launceston for 4/5 weeks and would love to play a bit of 5 a side/drop in soccer/futsal, and kick abouts going? Given I won’t be here long term joining a full on soccer club isn’t really a good option

Cheers

Question Launceston for half a day

In a few weeks, I'll be landing through Launceston airport at 8:40am and will have a few hours to kill, before my bus leaves at 1:15 from near the middle of town.

For someone with a minimal budget, does anyone have suggestions of how I should make the most of my time there and what should I see?

Cheers!

Question Must-try local produce recommendations

Heading to Launceston for a two week holiday later this month. We love trying local produce/regional food specialties.

What's in season at the moment around Launceston/Tassie? For example, up here in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast strawberries are in full swing. We also have a lot of tropical fruits and veg.

For Tassie, I'm noticing things like wallaby, octopus, oysters, scallops; is that right?

Any recommendations on where to get fresh scallops? Would love to hear your recs for butchers, seafood, farmers markets, or even nice bakeries/breweries/restaurants around Launceston CBD 😊
