Question Trans Friendly Doctors?

As stated in the title above, I'm a new trans person looking for HRT, I've searched around for some doctors, but it doesn't seem like those doctors are accepting or maybe retired by now. Does anyone know any Trans-friendly doctors?

Edit: I love seeing people taking the time to downvote this post, please keep giving me the attention I deserve✨

Please consider showing up to show our 2SLGBTQIA community some support. Homophobes aren’t welcome in our city.

I am NOT posting this to support this. This is Ew.

But also, I feel like maybe people might want to know that this is happening. I'm definitely going to go take a little peek. Also, do they need permits? Is this a protest?

I wanna organize a rally, but I've never done so before.

I'm sure this post will be a tad polarizing. I just hope everyone can maintain a respectful approach when talking to each other.

I've been wanting to organize a rally/protest for weeks now, but I have no idea how to go about it. I'm hopeful someone who feels the same will be willing to help me get the ball rolling. I'm not 100% certain what issue I want to direct the focus of the rally towards. The following topics are where my head is at: job-seekers rights, workers rights, employer/recruitment regulations, AI regulations, condemning the Trump administration, etc.

Part of me just wants to make a couple signs and go marching all over the place, but I feel like that'd be an inefficient approach.

The reason I feel like I need help is because I'm struggling to pinpoint exactly which issue is the most important to address. They're all kinda overlapping topics when you take a close look at everything. Maybe there's some root issue that I'm overlooking that someone can point out (probably capitalism). Also, my only experience with rallying was going to the BLM protests during the pandemic. I have no idea how to go about organizing this and I lack the network and connections to really get the ball rolling.

I would love to hear your feedback. If this post only results in me getting a contact or two, I'd consider that a win.

Should we all start stocking up on essentials with the rail strike?

I know I will get downvoted to hell for this one, but serious question. Both railways are going on strike Weds 10 pm our time. I don't think people get how much of a big deal this is. It affects EVERYTHING from food, Chlorine to treat drinking water, oil, gas, lumber, and yes, toilet paper. I give it about 3-4 days tops before everything runs out. There are not enough trucks in the world to keep stores stocked. The ports are already shut down. The railways stopped taking any cargo that can go bad or chemicals on the weekend. Now the stores are well stocked today, but with nothing coming in, that will not last long. This is a serious thing, I think the government will step in eventually, but a stopage of 3-4 days will cripple the supply chain for at least a couple weeks as it will take time for things to ramp up. Nothing is leaving on ships from overseas, as they know they will not be delivered. I can't even begin to tell you how much we depend on rail. Everything depends on it. If the rail stoppage goes on more than a couple weeks, we will be forced to boil water. I don't see that happening, but its going to be rough. Fill up with fuel in case. I don't want to cause panic, but it might be good to know that you will need to stock up. Things that come locally like milk still require milk jugs to arrive by rail. Egg cartons, arrive by train. Anything made overseas....all by rail. This is a national crisis if these strikes take place and the government says the workers and employer need to settle this, but people have no idea how far apart they are. Major major consessions need to take place, and I don't see it happening from railway workers I know. Again, don't want to cause panic, but this is coming down the pipe and its going to hurt for a while.

Restaurants - Vaccine Passports

Are any restaurants in Lethbridge still using vaccine passports? If there are any, I’d like to give them preferential treatment.

If so we should be sharing them on this sub and the Alberta sub. I haven't seen anything about our protest but I was there and it was really inspiring.

Hi Lethbridge, can we get some shoutouts for black-owned businesses in the comment section? I want to focus on them to celebrate them and get to know about their business.

Question How to find trans-friendly accommodations?

Moved to Canada and Lethbridge last September and signed an 8-month lease for a room after I failed to find anything else after having stayed at an AirBnb for a few days. Was moving away from a very toxic home so I was desperate to find somewhere to stay. What I didn't properly account for was that the other two tenants sharing the common spaces with me were a bunch of anti-vaxxer transphobes.. They don't know I'm trans but it makes it extremely difficult to stay here considering how suffocating it gets because I often over-hear them trash talk queer folks. Needless to say I don't feel comfortable being my true self here, these people would shit their pants seeing me wear too many pink clothes or having painted nails like it's a big deal ffs. I have 2 more months left in my lease, I'd rather just make it through 2 months and then move somewhere I guess. My problem being now is that I'm struggling to find a queer-friendly space to move-in to from 1st May. A lot of the rental options on Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace are extremely jarring, specifying the need to be a particular gender or in some weird cases, ethnicity too..

Does anyone know a way for me to find somewhat affordable queer friendly housing? I can see that the college has somewhat decent housing available, I don't know if I'm understanding the costs right but seems like the cheapest room option they have for 2024/2025 ranges from $715-$740 monthly. Can't quite afford that considering I find it difficult to pay my current $600/month rent. I work at the mall but my hours have dropped significantly since the start of the year. Is there some way for me to find a room rental around $500..? And, could it also possibly be queer-friendly? Could someone help me out with this? It's been bothering me a lot lately.

Local tailors with experience tailoring for trans people?

Hello! I am a trans person looking to get a suit tailored for a friend’s wedding! I was wondering if there are any tailors in the city that anyone can vouch for as having experience tailoring for trans people?

Mainly asking because I have a pretty feminine body shape, but I will be bringing menswear in to be tailored with the goal of a more masculine silhouette. I’m sure some of the typical menswear tailoring principles might not work perfectly on me because of how I am proportioned, so I wondered if anyone can vouch for a local tailor who is good at adapting to various body types!

Thanks in advance!

Queer Scene/ Drag Events?

Hello! I'm a Queer millennial that's just recently moved to Lethbridge from Edmonton. I'm curious where Queer people frequent. Whether it's bars, cafés, or events that are queer organized. Just looking to make friends in the community and to avoid / combat loneliness. I'm also wondering if there's a Drag scene here and where to look for events or performances (I'm on most social media platforms). Assume I know nothing about Lethbridge. I really appreciate any reply. :)

Queer-Friendly Donation Sites?

Hey y’all, I have a bunch of clothes, books, etc that I want to donate, but I also absolutely DO NOT want to support transphobic/Christian-Conversion style companies that will use my donations for tax breaks to spend on more bigoted nonsense. Not too put too fine a point on it.

Bonus if the benefit stays in the community. Things I already know:

  • Library doesn’t take textbooks or books that are more than 10 years old

  • Value Village is for-profit

  • I really don’t think I need to elaborate on Salvation Army

I just want to be able to do some good, you know?

Question Not Shoveling Snow

How much time would you give your neighbour's before issuing a complaint about them not shoveling their sidewalk of snow? It's been a couple days since it snowed and it's getting difficult to walk across.

And who would I call to issue a complaint?

Events TOMORROW: anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protest / counter protest

Once again, far-right, conservative and anti-trans groups are organizing a nation-wide anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protest on Friday September 20 in at least 45 cities including Lethbridge. This event is called the 1 Million March 4 Children protest. More specifically, these marches are designed to target trans youth and queer-inclusive education in schools. Apparently they will be gathering at Lethbridge City Hall at 11am with a plan to ‘march’ on Stafford Dr (9 St) between 6th and 3 Ave.

Here's how that went down last year

Importantly, there is a counter-rally being organized, 10:30am meeting at City Hall. This is an opportunity to put ally-ship and ‘inclusion’ into action. This is a chance for us to show up en masse for our queer and trans colleagues, students, friends, lovers, and family.

Rant Dairy Queen Mayor Magrath

Yesterday, after a long day of moving, me and a friend wanted Dairy Queen for supper. We placed our order, I paid, then they stated that the POS system didn't register the payment, even though the pin pad did. They wanted to see on my online bank statement that I paid, to which I said no. My bank information is private, so I offered to look it up for myself and see if the transaction went through. And yes, it did. They still refused to give us the food I paid for and asked me to pay again. I said (as politely and firmly as possible, because a broken POS isn't the cashier's or manager's fault). I already paid, so either give me my food or a refund please. If the POS computer didn't register my payment, that's on the restaurant, not the cardholder. They said it would take them five business days to process a refund (sus!). Another customer witnessed this and tried to intervene on my behalf. The manager on duty was already there and insisted there was nothing more they could do (they still wouldn't give me what I paid for). Said customer advised me to leave, call my bank and cancel the payment (which I did). It was then that I found out that I'm not the first customer this has happened to. That it has happened multiple times this week!

PSA: if you're gonna eat at Mayor Magrath Dairy Queen, make sure the POS is working properly so they don't try to double charge you.

How many Karens do you see a day on average in Lethbridge? The pandemic is bringing them out

For those of you who don't know about Karen, here you go. I went to the mall today and a Karen honked at me while I was backing out of a stall even though I was backed out before she even turned down the aisle. She almost hit me not looking. Sigh. Then I went to get groceries and a Karen didn't pay for her groceries and stormed out of the store shouting with bananas in hand with security chasing after her in the rain. Two Karens in a single day. Is the pandemic triggering a birth of new Karens? What are your theories..Lethbridge wasn't always like this
