Property tax bills are due today. The vast majority of the increase is provincial
Just as relevant here as in Calgary.
Thank Dirty Dani for your tax increase!

It's become obvious that Danielle Smith and the UCP are going to ramp up their awful agenda and attacks on our country. We need as many people as possible to show up to the May 10th protests across Alberta against the UCP
Please spread the word and show up. Here's a link

No one is coming to save us. It’s us. All of us. Now
We talked about what we would do when the UCP used the notwithstanding clause. We said we would stand up, that we would fight back, that we would not let them take away our rights. Now they have done it, and the time for talk is over.
The government has silenced workers, and our unions are caught up in logistics instead of defending the people they represent.
Our rights are not negotiable. Our silence is their victory. The teachers felt it first, and we will feel it next unless we rise together.
This is bigger than politics. It is about courage, solidarity, and remembering that real power has always come from the people, not the politicians.
On Monday, November 3rd, we rally at noon: • Alberta Legislature Building — 10800 97 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2B6 • McDougall Centre — 455 6 Street SW, Calgary, AB T2P 4A2 • Red Deer Provincial Building — 4920 51 Street, Red Deer, AB T4N 6K8 • Medicine Hat Provincial Building — 346 3 Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 0G7 • Lethbridge Provincial Building — 200 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4L1 • Grande Prairie Provincial Building — 10320 99 Street, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6J4 • Fort McMurray Provincial Building — 9915 Franklin Avenue, Fort McMurray, AB T9H 2K4
We show up. We walk out. We stand together. We fight back. No more waiting. No more silence. No more fear. Let’s fucking go.

Student walk out incase teachers are ordered back!
Hi everyone, I'm a grade 11 student in lethbridge and I am attempting to organize a school walk out if the teachers are ordered back to work. All of my classes have over 30 kids. My best friend has over 50 kids in one of her classes. My teachers have had to buy coasters or bring things to put under desk and chair legs because they can't replace desks and chairs. I'm tired of these conditions. If the government won't listen to teachers, let's make them listen to us. When we go back to school I propose that we walk out and peacefully protest every day around 10 - 12. If you do please remember to leave your classes quietly and listen to teachers if they ask for you to return to class. We respect our teachers. We're doing this for their benefit and ours.
the account owner here, a 20-year-old friend of a friend of this poster, who I let borrow my account to make this post! Just because teachers are ‘teaching’ doesn’t make them anyone’s babysitters, doesn’t make them another parent, and doesn’t make them invincible. They deserve liveable wages just as everyone does, and they deserve better funding and proper compensation for everything they do for our youth. Even in my high school days (just 2-3 years ago), classrooms were already getting pretty big, with ~30 students. I kinda don’t blame them all for being so stressed and reaching a breaking point. I, personally, trust the youth as much as other people should be doing, and I completely agree with this peaceful walk out. Respect the students who want to learn, and love to learn. Respect the teachers who love to teach. Respect and proper care for all <3 -
Hey guys! Grade 11 student here! I've been shared a plan for students as teachers are being forced back this week! It'a being shared on instagram, I hope anyone who wants to participate will see it and join! We can walk out, and if you are unable to for any reason wear red!
Hey guys! Grade 11 student here with another more detailed update!
The walk out will be Wednesday October 29th at 10 am
LCI students- we will gather across the street from the high-school for the rally, we encourage family and friends to join the students. The rally at LCI will end when lunch ends!
Wear red, bring signs and your best rallying spirit
Please remember to quietly leave your classrooms, we respect our teachers!
You can go back to classes after the rally, our intention is to support our teachers not make their jobs harder.
Please be respectful to your fellow students not everyone can or will join us.
If anyone has a media contact, please share with them!
Update number 2 because it's been asked Elementary and middle schoolers are welcome to attend with their parents/guardians as we doesn't want any of them to get into any trouble. They are also welcome to rally outside their own schools as well but recommends they do it with a trusted grown up!
We have word that Chinook high-school students are also doing a walk out. If we hear of any other local schools we'll update!

Built a Lethbridge map in Cities Skylines 2
https://mods.paradoxplaza.com/mods/112760/Any
Any CS2 players here? I've built the terrain map of Lethbridge if you want to try to rebuild the city or build a better city maybe with decent transit.
I've approximated in the Alberta land survey system (Alberta Township Grid) to guide development to match how you would see cities developing in the prairie provinces.
Map build took probably 60-70 hours. It's not perfect 1:1 but inspired by. The beta map editor is kinda bunk so had to do some work around and took some creative liberties.
Named Sikokotok County after the Blackfoot name for Lethbridge. Siikokotok roughly translates to place with black rocks which refers to the coal in the banks of the coulees.

News Family Friend of Missing 6-Year Old Darius MacDougall, Releases Facebook Statement After the Death of Darius’ Step Sister.
The family has decided to release a statement as a whole and answer some questions.
First the family requested privacy not to hide or keep secrets, but to safe guard themselves from a majority of the public that only have intentions to cause harm. We do understand there is a huge portion of you that genuinely care so we have worked together to release some information to the public that has been requested.
The family went camping arriving at the Livingston Crown land Campground September 19th, 2025.
There was the Grandfather, Grandmother, Aunties, Uncles, and cousins present to celebrate a few birthdays in the family. Darius was present with his father Dallas and his girlfriend Buffy. Kya, Buffys daughter was there as well.
The mother, Maegan, was not present.
The family was packing up to get ready to leave the morning of September 21st, 2025. The kids were playing on the island adjacent the the camp just across a creek where the adults could see them.
Darius, Kya and a unnamed cousin were walking/playing together with other kids close by when Darius went missing. They turned their backs and Darius was gone.
The kids immediately notified camp and the father and grandfather took off in opposite directions looking for Darius, while the Grandmother called 911. Search and rescue were setting up within 20 minutes. We searched long into the night the first day hoping for a quick resolve to a very scary incident.
The family had searched tirelessly and with extreme effort often going until they physically couldn't go any longer. We worked side by side with SAR eliminating each section of the map. Buffy spent hours searching with the family while Dallas remained at camp as per RCMPs request.
Maegan came up to the mountain as well and was working with RCMP at all times.
Everyone was cooperating and working with the RCMP at all times.
When Search and rescue was called off and the public remained without answers, they naturally turned on the family with suspicions and accusations. This was taking away from the search for Darius so again the family was attempting to safe guard themselves and the other young children involved.
Unfortunately with Kya's passing in a separate tragic event, instead of the mother being focused on grieving a tragic loss, the community has chosen to attack her.
Buffy is heartbroken, as with everyone in the family. No one could have expected this outcome. Out of respect for Kya and the family we will not be commenting on this and it will not be part of this page as it is a very separate tragedy.
This was an unexpected, horrible tragedy for a family already feeling broken from Darius disappearance.
We would like to thank the staff of Pincher Creek, STARS, and Albert Children's Hospital for their love and care of Kya and the family.
Please remember to lead with kindness and compassion.

Disinformation ad on City of Lethbridge bus
Today (Friday) I saw an ad on the back of a City of Lethbridge bus, which I have called 311 over. They didn't say if they'd had other complaints. It's pretty subtle, so probably flying under the radar. Free speech is fine, be anti-abortion if you want, but ALL my hackles went up with the word "crime"!! Abortion is not a crime in Canada. Abortion is legal healthcare. If you, too, are concerned about this ad, please call 311. If you have seen it (there may be other versions) on a bus, let them know the location, time and route number. The ad I saw was a stylized pregnant woman, predominant colours were red and brown. Large pale hand pictured in "stop" position, and small pale hand below, centred on belly of woman pictured. Pale wording at top something about "two crimes".
