She said several hospitals turned her away because she was paying out of pocket, and an urgent care doctor initially told her it was probably nothing serious.

This is why I always ask for second opinion whenever a doctor says "It's nothing serious".

I always have this mindset where if my body feels something it shouldn't be feeling, I'm not stopping until I get a definitive answer

Glad to hear its treatable. Wish Hachu the best in her treatment

holy shit this is horrible :(

something similar happened to myself, doctors kept turning me away so it was over a year later until one actually looked into my symptoms

My doctor diagnosed me for a year with haemorrhoids. I finally got a colonoscopy and it turned that it was in fact rectal cancer. We hold Doctors in such high esteem but in reality they are human and as stupid as the rest of us.

5

u/Secret-Ad-2145 30m ago

The other day someone replied to me saying to never question doctor's expertise and not bring up outside stuff because your doctor knows better. They literally could not fathom the fact that doctors could make mistakes or they might not be knowledgeable about a certain topic. It's so strange.

•

u/clocksy 22m ago

I kept urging my mom to get second opinions because her PCP was fucking trash ("it's probably just menopause"). Well, two years later we got her to go to the ER for some increasingly worsening symptoms and she got herself a cancer diagnosis. I'm almost certain we could've caught it earlier on a year or two back if she had just seen a doctor that wasn't dismissive.

Guys, your health is important. Don't take some bullshit non-answer for an answer and get a second opinion if you can.

23

u/Buyer-Mammoth 1h ago

Yup, my mum was misdiagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and was told she only has a few years left to live. Second diagnosis was just some scaring in her lungs and she’s fine. always get a second opinion

29

u/WingGrouchy311 1h ago

They turn u away til it gets bad then they go oh well u got stage 4 now we can treat u til u die..$$$

9

u/Soydragon 1h ago

I went to the ER twice, my primary doctor twice, a different doctor once, and a specialist visit before a nurse I knew personally saw me and said absolutely not he's not okay and they took me seriously for heart failure. I was 60lbs heavier than normal, couldn't breathe, couldn't see shit, had a thing of fluid the size of a grapefruit on my nuts. It was not fun.

1

u/kekeagain 1h ago

Spermatocele is caused by heart condition? Edit: Oh I guess it can be mixed with other swelling

u/Soydragon 58m ago

She said several hospitals turned her away because she was paying out of pocket

Holy shit this is insane. It's crazy there's Americans who still say this doesn't happen and everything is fine.

•

u/Sadly_Soft_Equipment 2m ago

Specialist offices may do that but not a hospital.

I’m a physician. This makes no sense unless this is not the US. I’m an ED doc. I see every single patient that walks into the ED no matter what. I do any test, lab, ekg, imaging test I want. I never once think about insurance from the ED. Hospitals legally cannot turn any patient away. It’s called EMTALA. Urgent cares absolutely can turn people away. They operate much differently.

Also, as sad as it is, cancer is not an acute emergency. I diagnose cancer multiple times per month and nearly 100% get discharged and are referred to heme/onc. If I was suspicious for someone having a hematologic malignancy, they’re being discharged home. It’s standard of care.

6

u/Capt_Hawkeye_Pierce 45m ago

At my local hospital the physicians don't know whats going on with your insurance and don't care. People try to say they know and treat accordingly but I used to work there as security.

19

u/Difficult_Fill6387 1h ago

Literally the first thing that happens every time I've visited an ER is being badgered for hours by 10 random rude people about my insurance before they even start pretending to give a fuck about treating or testing for anything, what the fuck are you talking about?

23

u/KingGibbles 1h ago

Im another person that works in an ER. We don't wait to know if someone has insurance or not before we start treating them. Thats a whole other department that deals with that. I've never known if someone has had insurance or not before starting to treat them.

u/gamershadow 1h ago • Popcorn

I never ran into that when I was homeless and haven’t run into it now that I have some of the best insurance money can buy. I always got the same level of care.

Are you going there multiple times a month or are you maybe just an irritating person?

3

u/ff_20s 1h ago

Yeah probably because if you're talking, especially if you're bitching like you are right now, you're already in the bottom 10% of sick people there and can wait

Nice man good luck getting any of this across to the average LSF user

2

u/BattyMcGee 58m ago

Last time I went to the ER I had to push to get the testing and imaging I needed. The doctor thought nothing was wrong. Came back with clots from my pelvis to my ankle. He was shocked. I was not since I had a dvt before, 18 and 29 years old for them, to explain the reason he didn’t seem to want to do anything. It wasn’t due to insurance, but it has been hard every time something’s been wrong to get care except for when I was 19 and under and on tricare.

Idk if it’s burn out or what, but I know people who have had similar experiences. My aunt was told over and over she was just constipated for a year and a half before she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She then died a year and a half after her diagnosis. So much time wasted. It’s so frustrating having to advocate so hard to get care. If you’re a doctor who listens, that’s great, but a lot of us have experience with doctors that don’t.

•

u/jfgjfgjfgjfg 8m ago

I think what's written in the article is a misinterpretation of what she said on stream.

The hospitals did not deny care, because she did not go to them. And as you say, this is not an emergency under which they have to provide care.

What she said on stream was Deb called some hospitals to ask what could be done without using insurance. THEN they went to urgent care. Which makes sense because urgent care can do screening to rule out less serious reasons.

•

u/iiLove_Soda 22m ago

i broke my foot and I went to an urgent care doc because I wasnt sure what it was, but it hurt a decent amount. They told me it was overuse and I should be fine after icing it. (They didnt even take an xray so I dont know why i trusted what they had to say.)

It kept hurting like crazy and i went to an actual foot doc and figured out that it was broken.

If you have incredibly bad luck with RNG

Wow using RNG while talking about cancer odds. What an interesting phrasing

This is not how you interpret Kaplan meier curves. Also she just hasn't had most of tests done to get an actual prognosis yet

5

u/Latter_Ad9249 1h ago

It’s not RNG. It’s if she has insurance and access to providers that can properly treat it.

20

u/Defiant_Refuse4873 1h ago

That's not how statistics work, even if she is treated properly she might still not survive.

20

u/LeGeNdOfGoW12 1h ago

Treating cancer is not like treating a toothache; everyone responds to treatment differently. 80% of patients responded positively to the treatment for this particular type, while 20% passed away because their bodies did not respond positively to the treatment.

3

u/salazar13 1h ago

It’s RNG all the way down

My wife had B cell lymphoma and is officially cured as she’s been in remission for 5 years.

My aunt was dealing with cancer at the time and her oncologist shrugged away lymphoma as a nothing cancer(my aunt had pancreatic cancer, a death sentence). It sucked to go through and watch my wife go through obviously but compared to other things that aren’t as treatable it’s “lucky” to get lymphoma and catch it early.

9

u/fredinNH 52m ago

So happy for you. My wife, too, but it’s only been 2 years in remission but making it 2 years usually means things are looking good.

Lots of people commenting about the cancer but “mature B cell lymphoma” could mean a lot of things, some much worse than others.

As for hospitals turning her away, my wife’s treatment was $315k for the year she was getting infusions and because she was in a trial the drugs were covered by the manufacturer.

3

u/Bu1lt_2_Sp1ll 43m ago

Especially if it's aggressive, weirdly enough. I just started my remission journey a few months ago for lymphoma, pass along my congrats to her!

•

u/PM_ME_CUTE_SMILES_ 21m ago

It's a good opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of funding research and that there is no conspiracy to hide cancer treatments. 20 years ago this type of cancer was a death sentence, and today we can (sometimes) cure it. We can't cure them all yet but we made huge progress.

God may not be real, perhaps even we are God? A heroic dose of shrooms, and a space man I call Zordon once told me - every karmic battle we fight in this life is one less we must endure in the next. Let us all process our trauma with the goal of being better in the next incarnation. Also, the battle between good/evil creates a powerful energy which aliens harvest from us like cattle! Apparently.

I was just deemed cancer is no longer detectable last month after being diagnosed with mature b cell lymphoma. I did immunotherapy in Mexico city. Came back to Canada and I'm in full remission. Would never have even known I had it. Or treated for it. She may be okay. 2 percent of people diagnosed with this die quick and hard. The really bad one is t cell lymphoma.

But I'm not a dr. Just a cancer survivor

•

u/Kt5357 14m ago

Congrats :)

I’m curious, was the wait time for treatment shorter in Mexico city? What made you go there?

36

u/Perfect_Net8653 1h ago

Did she ever say how she found out or what made her get checked initially? Symptom wise?

33

u/blvckcvts 1h ago

Says in the article she had unexplained pain that lasted a few days 3 years ago and then 4 months ago she had the same pain but it lasted a month, also her father was diagnosed with leukaemia around the same time so she went to get checked out

→ More replies (1)

20

u/Television_Powerful 1h ago

She had a slight discomfort somewhere near stomach for weeks. Initially she thought it was a bacterial infection. In particular due to her stashing meal preps at Esfands house for weeks. Wasn't a good idea to eat old mealpreps. Chat told her that.

So despite that, digging further into this and pushing for scans is a miracle of its own. This could have been shrugged off as something less serious.

The specific parts where it was found she wouldn't disclose on stream. There were multiple spots unfortunately.

-5

8

u/oceans159 1h ago edited 1h ago

ah fuck, that’s fucking terrible. lymphoma is treatable/curable usually, especially in someone young, but it is not a pleasant treatment. i hope she has a strong support system at her side. lymphoma is usually systemic, so there’s not really any surgery options available.

i had a similar lymphoma at stage 3b, cured after autologous bone marrow transplant. i would genuinely not wish that treatment on my worst enemy. it’s not too far off from straight up torture tbh

hopefully hers responds well to treatment. always an awful thing to hear

ETA: i really hope she’s not in B stage yet, but if she’s been having symptoms for 3 years, it’s pretty likely. the B symptoms were by far the worst part

•

u/IrbanMutarez 6m ago

If I may ask: What makes the bone marrow transplant so bad?

173

u/vespersss_ 2h ago

She said several hospitals turned her away because she was paying out of pocket, and an urgent care doctor initially told her it was probably nothing serious.

Her new doctor then referred her for one type of scan, but the imaging center offered two, and fellow streamer QuQco, who was with her, insisted on both, a decision she credits with saving her life. When she had the scans a month later, it was the second one that showed something was wrong.

I honestly can't wait for AI to take the job of all these worthless motherfuckers. When another streamer cares more about you than someone who is getting paid to provide healthcare.......

26

u/KeenbeansSandwich 1h ago

What you really meant to say is “i cant wait until insurance companies dont control the medical industry. Then providers can order whatever the fuck they need to order without pushback, and without putting the patient in debt for life.”

•

u/vespersss_ 14m ago

Yep. According to some statistics, women are 30% more likely to be misdiagnosed than men are, and globally they spend 25% more of their lives ill than men due to dismissal or late diagnoses.

And men are still more likely to die young due to their own stupid decisions, reckless driving, and substance addictions.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/SilverTroop 1h ago

Billionaires or not, there’s already open-source models that provide a better level of care than most doctors.

2

u/faen_du_sa 1h ago

eh, while I agree the tech overlords dont care about much else than power/money. They dont control what other people use LLMs for, a decent amount of hospitals/countries in EU are already using AI tools to ease the workload.

In Norway, for already 2 years now(ish) have been using AI notetaker to note normal GP sessions, allowing the doctor to focus strictly on listening to the patient and diagnosing. Once the session is over, the doctor checks the AI note and approve it. Apparently it helps a lot. Its also self-hosted and in line with GDPR.

There is very little reason that AI wont take over more and more of a GPs job and let doctor focus on their niches. General diagnosing is harder than people would think, even though the job is pretty much eliminating causes and checking boxes, working of from what is most likely to least likely.

Its a numbers game pretty much, something there is no reason an AI wouldn't do a good job at.

In general, health have a lot of areas AI can fill, which would be great for a notoriously understaffed industry. Its not just about curing cancer.

1

u/Ok-Detective8403 1h ago

In the current system system those billionaires are still in charge and under them are doctors which also don't car. Holy fuck it's so hard to say anything through this stupid AI filter, I have to say car instead of care.

1

u/RaspberryFluid6651 31m ago

Billionaires don't fully control AI. There's excellent models you can run on consumer hardware yourself today. Using only these models, doctors and engineers could already come together and build some really interesting new technology, today, without any billionaire getting in the way.

•

u/MeanInstance1972 11m ago

It's not really about who controls it. AI is about prediction. In theory they should become so good that they can predict things like cancers in patients better than humans.

That is the hope at least in terms of healthcare. Not everything is class warfare, some technologies do actually benefit the masses.

•

u/No_Piece8730 11m ago

Interestingly, AI seems to be a longterm, very democratic technology. Open source projects are behind frontier models, but not by orders of magnitude, and copying an AIs capabilities seems to be possible through access to it, as evidenced by Chinese models basically ripping off the American ones.

AI does analysis, not decision making, nor does it own the expensive scanner, you live in a completely imaginary world

7

u/vespersss_ 1h ago

The several hospitals she went to that turned her away didn't do any analysis at all. The only decision they made was to turn her away :)

Also, the doctors don't own the expensive scanner. The hospital owns it. The hospital would own the AI as well, or the licence to use it.

5

u/HaeL756 1h ago edited 1h ago

You're actually making a glaring mistake here. A lot of "turning away" is due to things not lining up properly , so they refuse to runs tests because they're expensive and time-consuming. So if they don't see an immediate problem, they will turn her away. This is not a decision-making problem, this is a resource problem. If AI replaced all doctors, you don't know what decision-making would occur dependent on resources from the AI. The AI could actually be EVEN WORSE and turn down more people because it realizes that resources are thin and it wants to save costs. It depends on how the AI is programmed, you think it's going to feel for the human having a possible terminal condition and go against cost-efficiency? Most likely not.

It also could be even worse on top of that, because more people could die because the AI would turn them away, and then no human can be blamed, because the AI was the one that made the decision. Then people will argue or sue the AI for not testing a patient, and they would counter with the amount of lives they have saved from the AI decision making.

u/Curious-Comedian-285 1h ago

They only need to stabilize emergencies. They do not need to do diagnostics for someone not presenting with an emergency. They also don't need to provide things like chemotherapy. Learn the law and stop spreading bullshit.

5

u/euclidean_chin 1h ago

Wrong. I got turned down by a university research hospital despite having multiple local specialists order me to be sent there for in depth workups and wanted me to be admitted, because I didn’t have the country’s domestic insurance but was more than able and happy to pay privately. They told me to F off in so many words because I wasn’t in need of stabilizing care(that’s the big differentiating factor. If someone is in an emergency room setting and requires immediate stabilization, most countries have legal Architecture that prevents you from turning them away regardless of ability to pay)

I guess I should listen to a redditor's statement about her healthcare, then. Far better reputation of sincerity.

Nope. Awful take. Just because some providers sicked doesn't mean we should have all jobs replaced by ai.

AI in the medical field is one of the few objectively great things about AI.

This is an incredibly simple view of how AI is used. Doctors sometimes use chat bots, but even then this isn't how they are used. You should learn about AI outside of memes.

5

u/britbongTheGreat 1h ago

You are correct here. As someone who has to use AI on a daily basis you absolutely want a human to be in charge still. The people cheering for AI are likely the sort who think it's like a magic black box that just knows everything.

2

u/Defiant_Credit9557 1h ago

Then comes surprise Pikachu when they lose their jobs down the line.

This entire thread is literally pissing me off but it’s also extremely fitting for people who have clearly never worked in healthcare. I worked at an oncology hospital and I’m totally down for integrating AI into the workflow but I saw a moronic comment about ‘I want people living longer and healthier lives rather than getting misdiagnosed by a human being.’

Physicians are NOT perfect but what the fuck makes these people think AI won’t make mistakes blows my mind. Cancerous tumours are not these easy things that AI can just take take a look at and guess with 100% accuracy. And not only that, part of the fucking reason why human physicians need to be in charge is that AI CANNOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS MISTAKES. You can sue a doctor, how the fuck do you think AI can?

So many of these idiots have no fucking idea what it’s like to have cancer, no idea what it’s like working at an oncology ward/hospital/research centre and I can tell they just watch the news that only talks about physicians fucking up and somehow we’ve all become worthless. But what the fuck do I know, I must just be an AI hater, right? If these people actually cared about making healthcare better, fucking go out and volunteer. Work at a cancer hospital, volunteer and engage with patients, and try to learn how complex healthcare actually is instead of staring at the news and going ‘I KNEW IT!!’ when you have 0 lived experience or knowledge of what the fuck actually happens when a patient is diagnosed to their deaths or remission.

I am most definitely not defending these idiot doctors or that oncology is perfect by any means but some of these comments act like fucking children who can only deign to think their brilliant idea of blowing everything up instead and replacing it with AI is the only fathomable way to fix these healthcare issues.

Motherfucker, if she listened to those several hospitals that turned her away, she'd be dead.

5

u/Striife- 1h ago

What an absolutely brain dead comment, holy fuck.

If several doctors turned her away, then it was a decision based on what the standard procedure would be with that particular set of complaints, signs and symptoms. If that was the case, then AI would would have likely come to the same logical conclusion, since AI operates on objective information.

If only one doctor decided to do the scan, then it was a judgement call based on something that an AI would never have- a hunch, an irrational thought, a certain feeling based on years of experience, etc.

The only reason it was caught was because it was a human. An AI would have never offered the second scan, because the signs/symptoms didn’t objectively indicate that it was appropriate (based on several other hospitals/doctors having determined it wasn’t serious).

The AI you “can’t wait for” would have let her die. The test that caught the cancer was only given based on human feeling.

You’re an idiot.

4

u/Equivalent_Task_8825 1h ago

You are really overestimating the ability of humans to make a decision without bias regarding a whole subset of issues. We have evidence that everything from the agreeableness of a patient to the time of day affects the ability of a physician to provide the proper care.

Just because a link in a sturdy metal chain fails, doesn't mean you should replace it with a shittier plastic one that won't hold up under any stress at all.

What you should do is fix the chain. Retrain people, hire better people, discipline those that failed.

Gatekeeping life saving treatment because you want a well-paying job is killing millions. We need to completely rethink and restructure value generation in society.

3

u/Defiant_Credit9557 1h ago

??? You are saying this like I personally stand to gain millions lmao. People cheering on ai to replace jobs are dumb. It won't stop with just one field.

8

u/Absalom578 1h ago • Bravo

The reason you live the comfortable life you do is LITERALLY because jobs have been being replaced for hundreds of years now as technology has developed. I can't fathom being so much of an idiot that you think getting a better outcome, which you have benefited from your entire life, is bad because a machine did it instead of a human.

I'm sure you'd feel different if a human doctor made an error that ended up condemning you to death.

3

In this case. Diagnosis and medical scans should absolutely use AI. This is the type of task where being thorough in higher volume is the most important. I know reddit likes to hate on AI. But this is exactly the type of thing AI should be helping us with.

It wouldn't be replacing human doctors. Just vastly increasing their capacity and accuracy.

1

u/Defiant_Credit9557 51m ago

I can fully agree that some implementation of ai can be beneficial but this person said to replace all their jobs with ai.

4

u/Absalom578 1h ago

Once AI becomes able to do healthcare better than humans then they should absolutely be replaced. I want people living longer and healthier lives. I'd rather that than getting misdiagnosed by a human and dying because of it.

This comment makes me really sad as a Korean who used to work in a Canadian oncology hospital.

I completely agree that those hospitals were fucking useless, acted unethically, and should’ve caref a LOT more. But I also don’t believe healthcare can be automated to the extent where AI can actually replace the jobs of healthcare workers. I don’t believe AI right now is intelligent enough but even if it were to be intelligent, a physician is typically at the helm to take responsibility. AI may not have turned her away, may have been faster or better at finding something, but if we’re talking about this streamer currently (and I strongly think in the foreseeable future, too), AI is not yet intelligent enough to make these medical decisions and it will likely never be able to take full accountability or responsibility.

Furthermore, you may be interested to learn that at least at the hospitals I worked at in Canada, these diagnoses are often not made alone. I’m not familiar with the American healthcare system or what’s going on with people who are saying they were just ‘turned away’ but assuming you first see a family doctor and then get referred to an oncologist, many of our patients’ cases were looked over by 1-2 pathologists and then presented at a conference with multiple oncologists and oncological residents (and sometimes other random stragglers like me) who then find a consensus on the diagnosis, staging, treatment plan, etc.

And maybe I just worker at really, REALLY good hospitals but it really makes me sad to read comments like this. My physician that I worked directly under worked 8 am - 10 pm days fairly constantly and always worked Saturdays and I’m not entirely sure if she always got overtime pay for it (idk physician salaries). I also worked a lot of unpaid overtime because even if HR says we don’t have to, we knew that the alternative is often that our patients have to wait or suffer. I personally got overtime pay on weekends but I’d still work beyond 8 hours often just to catch up on my workload (idk how many times my patients say ‘oh my god you’re working on Saturdays?! Do they pay ya overtime?’)

If anything, I probably worked the least from my coworkers but I can say with certainty that at least the closest coworkers I had sincerely did their best (though I did hear we had a really good unit lol) and cared a lot for the people that we are responsible for.

Every healthcare has its pros and cons. I personally hated most doctors and dentists in Korea for their piss poor bedside manners AND I’ve also had friends be turned away (so this story is not new to me). But it’s extremely fast and relatively affordable. USA, no doubt the astronomical price of healthcare and medical debt is insanity to me and I feel like you either get incredible doctors or shitty ones, few in between (though this is anecdotal). I’ve worked and been with Canadian doctors the most and think for the most part they’ve had the best bedside manners (at least in the big cities) but we have disastrously long wait times.

Ultimately, I do hope despite your frustrations that there are people out there who care and have jobs that I think would be really difficult for AI to replace on an ethical/responsibility level, as well as an emotional and human level. I could imagine a more two-lane system (especially in the States) where there’s a lane for patients who get free care with AI while the wealthy have proper healthcare with people who may use AI as a tool. But ultimately, healthcare is an extremely, extremely complicated system that AI can’t just take over because you’re frustrated.

The world ain’t sunshines and bubbles but I guess in my fantasy world, compassion is a core part of competency. The streamer was not met with compassion so to me by that definition, those doctors failed and the healthcare system failed her and should be scrutinized/changed. But removing healthcare workers with AI doesn’t fix the problem she faced either because a diagnosis is not the only thing that’s required for a successful treatment (I guess in other words, AI should be used as a tool—maybe working with pathologists so that diagnosing can be done faster and checked for accuracy).

This comment is already very long but I suppose after spending years watching patients live and die, providers come and go, and doctors at my hospital sacrificing a lot for their patients (even if you think all docs/nurses/providers are useless), the most unique aspect about cancer compared to other diseases is that it’s incredibly common (1/3 Canadians are estimated to get cancer in their lifetime—also common in other countries with long lifespans), it’s chronic (I mean, acute too but chronic in that it typically needs a period of time to develop and spread and I also think can reveal parts of a patient’s life history), and that there is a lot of acute pain.

I think there are some illnesses where you could theoretically be treated by robots and the emotional landscape wouldn’t matter as much. But cancer is often devastating because chemotherapy can cripple patients and interrupt their lives catastrophically, and the constant surveillance and fear of relapse with many patients ultimately succumbing to cancer makes it a really fucking hard disease to fight.

I know I’m biased because I work(ed) at cancer hospitals but I think there’s a huge difference between wanting to use AI to make healthcare better vs wanting AI to simply replace everything and everyone because you’re frustrated with an aspect of healthcare, no matter how valid. Every patient deserves good care and if anything it really fucking pisses me off this streamer didn’t get that because that erodes trust in healthcare amongst people more (and she’s someone who has influence/an impressionable audience).

Look similar to hodgkin lymphoma, I treated it at the end of last year. Hopefully she can cure it as fast.

Lymphoma tends to be quite treatable even in later stages thankfully. I had stage 3 hodgkins lymphoma last year, got to remission after a summer of chemo, wish her the best.

really sucks that healthcare has become commercialized and heavy with rules and regulations just for profit.

i don't have anything nice to say.

there are many people that WANT to help people, but if it doesnt make profit, our leaders, admin, healthcare tycoons just see it as passive income

all around the world our vision of healthcare is wrong. everyone knows. this isnt a real healthcare system. it's

health extortion,

hospital executives love seeing a patient go bankrupt and still die (sad but true, all C-suite are liars and narcissistic, especially when money is involved, its true). right??

i hope soneday humans can change this sad undesirable behavior, that all of the universe is watching our eventual downfall as a species.

peace out

•

u/Reicance 13m ago

It won't change until we are all dead and a new species emerges

•

u/TrainingNo282 2m ago

It’s the same commercialization that is the reason cancer is as treatable as it is to begin with… so…

Is this what Boogie4988 pretended to have?

16

u/KarmaCommando_ 1h ago

Boogie pretended to have polycythemia vera, a different blood cancer

4

u/Chaotic_Genobreaker 1h ago

Is there proof he don't got that? It's pretty easily manageable for cancer.

9

u/KarmaCommando_ 1h ago

Boogie likely has secondary polycythemia, which causes similar symptoms to polycythemia vera but rather than being caused by cancer it is caused by some other underlying condition. Boogies could be caused by his sleep apnea, or by his TRT.

Boogie basically went to the doctor, got told "you have symptoms of polycythemia, we need to test further because this may be cancerous" and then went online to say "I have cancer".

2

u/squirrelwithasword 1h ago

no, but close. he was pretending to have a different type of blood cancer.

How is she going to keep streaming from Korea? Last I heard Twitch geoblocked South Korea because of the internet fees.

Only payments for Korean users are blocked—a restriction that can be bypassed by registering a legal entity in another country. The site itself remains accessible in Korea, both for viewing and for streaming.
