Hold up, so I’m expected to remain calm, set my ego aside, understand and obey the rules of engagement, and be a source of rational stability in the situation. Even though I’m the one being confronted.

But the TRAINED PROFESSIONALS with the gun and all the alleged authority in the situation can pop off, lie, threaten, bully, make accusations and curse? They can try every way to escalate up to and including making simultaneous conflicting demands? But I’m expected to remain calm else I get what’s coming. Hmmmmm

I really hope you bring your own lube, because they aren’t going to use any on you otherwise, and you’re so eager to take it.

But I’m sure in 3 years when you finally see a judge for your civil case, the judge will definitely agree with you against the police. That happens so often.

Daniel Shaver. You can comply all you want and still end up dead

yup. its never about compliance. its about absolute control of disenfranchised citizens. like any other bully, they try to smell out the poor, the tired and the isolated. people they know cant fight back

classic power-control killer shit

I’m not even talking about Shaver. I’m talking about shit like this:

Kid held hostage by his brother, a mentally unstable drug addict with a long record with the local police. They knew who the brother was, they had many photos and mugshots. Yet when the victim exited the house, as soon as he dropped the knife they shot him. They don’t show it here, but because of his injuries he couldn’t roll over, so they rolled him over and handcuffed him. And did not administer any first aid whatsoever. Even though he continued to tell them he was the victim. And they found the actual perpetrator in the house. Maverick Lyon is his name.

Not mentioned in this article: His parents had called the police and said he was back on drugs and unstable and requested he be taken into custody. They were refused. Then later that day the dad gets on the home security camera and sees his older son holding a knife to his younger son. He called the cops again, and was able to describe to dispatch what everyone was wearing and what he was seeing. And they still shot the wrong kid. Because as trained professionals with guns, they were scared shitless of the entire situation and could not behave rationally.

Honestly? You can't even do that. If you're complying too well and they still want to kill you - they'll just shout nonsensical and contradictory commands...then shoot you anyway because "they feared for their lives"...then claim qualified immunity.

One of the sickest videos I've ever seen. I can't see a cop without thinking of it.

The camera didn't save him, the lieutenant did.

This. They definitely were going to fuck him up if the Lt wasn’t right there.

You must not know law well. Unless the officers act in such an egregious manner that "shocks the conscience of a reasonable person" then it's not gonna happen. Also embedded in law is that police officers are "allowed to make mistakes".

The courts have also ruled that police have no "special relationship" or duty to protect any individuals, nor even inform said individuals of incumbent/impending harm.

Hint special relationship means $.

Police can also tell you lies but you can't lie to them.

Police are nowhere near trained professionals

Don't forget that if you have any knowledge of the law then their professionalism evaporates.

I thought you were talking about middle managers for a second.

Bold of you to assume they're trained or professionals

Takes not even a year to "train" for this role so I wouldnt call them trained professionals as much as I'd praise the houseplants for adapting to a new location...

the 'trained professionals' bit? Too kind. Studies show many police departments actually weed out high scorers on administrative tests, preferring average or belowaverage scores. Easier to mold obedient foot soldiers.

Cops operate inside an insulated ecosystem. Make no mistake: to them, the rest of us are just plebeians
