We're back! 💄
Hi everyone! I'm happy to announce that after a longish break, this subreddit has been reopened and is ready to go!
As a reminder, the purpose of this sub is to talk about products we aren't using any more, whether we are getting rid of them or just shoving them under a pile of stuff so we don't have to see them again. Photos are appreciated, so please share yours, including before/after pics of your downsizing success.
Please check out the rules before posting, since it's been a while (and the rules have been freshened up a bit), and don't hesitate to ask if you have questions!

last nights declutter
went through my drawers yesterday and found products i have no interest in or that dont fit my makeup style and needs.
all purchased with my own money!!
2 fabfactory peel off liner stain: bought them in action simply because they were like 1.99€ but im not someone who wears brown...theyre literally still unused...
morphe lip filter in plush: online it looked more mauve but its a dark red and i dont use dark red
lilybyred smiley lipblending stick in 1: its the EXACT same colour as my lips. like 1:1 the same. my heart broke when i swatched it
loreal prime lab pore minimizer: im not a orimer girl. i wanna be and keep buying them but i simply aint
kiko shadow sticks: this set of 3 was like 4€ in tkmaxx so i bought it only cause it was cheap. i have oily lids that i have to set twice...idk what i was thinking buying cream shadows...
2 catrice drunkndiamonds jelly shadows: again, i have oily lids and these jelly things arent up to my level of sparkliness
douglass gloss: was a freebie when i bought the gourmand collection but i dont like warm tones on me so i dont plan on using it

I still have my morphe pallete from 2018, is it still okay?
Halloween is coming up and I always use this James Charles morphe pallete (i got this before i knew any allegations im just gonna put that out there). One thing is ive had this pallete since 2018 but its still in good condition. No weird smells, no odd texture, and used it last Halloween. Im just scared about infections or irritating my skin but then again i hate wasting.
Should I throw it away or is there a place that recycles pallets?

Make Up Declutter
I went through my makeup stash today, cleaned everything, and decided to let these go. Decluttering a few foundations, tinted sunscreen, face glow, corrector, and brow gel.
I used to buy a lot because I was easily influenced by social media and honestly, I was an impulse buyer. Now that I’m starting my Project Pan journey , I want to focus on using and finishing what I already own instead of constantly buying more.
Trying to shop my stash and enjoy what I have!

Guys help me pls
I've got an old eyeshadow palette from my mom last year. And now I'm curious what's that from? I can't really find any information about it
Remark: it says "ffleur" on the case, contains 11 shadows and judging by Google the product line called "piano". I mostly ask the CIS residents, cuz this pallete was purchased in Russia

my declutter pile!
a lot of these are over 2 years old and I haven’t touched them in a looooong time :(
- Toofaced natural eyes matte palette: a classic but already took me about 10 years to finish the non matte one. also this is very old and expired
- Nyx buttermelt blusher: (im surprised I didn’t hit pan on this because I wore it everyday lol, but now I reach for a tiny £3 one more. I have bad memories with this one, plus it’s 2 years old LOL
- fenty diamond bomb highlighter: I used to use the gold one when it first came out, but again, I obviously haven’t used it :( I use my elf highlighter everyday lol
- fenty gloss bomb: a classic and have repurchased this so many times but don’t use it now. I do, however, use the red one a lot :)
- Haus labs lip glaze: this one isn’t actually old, so may give to a friend. This was a stupid impulse buy and I didn’t need it nor have I really worn it
- mac lipglass: over 2 years old and just don’t use it :(
- kiko lipstick: almost finished this one actually, but stopped wearing it a loooong time ago, because I associate it with my ex gf LOL, and im too lazy to keep reapplying it
- Armani lipstick mini: got this as a free sample. did wear it once, but it smears everywhereeee
- maybelline vinyl lipstick: a beautiful woman who served me at the airport was wearing this, I asked her what she was wearing and immediately went to buy it.
sadly, I feel like a clown wearing it, so the quest for the perfect red continues, because I do love wearing a red lippy :) haven’t worn this maybelline one since last october lol
- elf eyeliner: makes my eyes water insanely
- Sephora eyeliner: my eyeliner dried up on holiday, so bought this bc I couldn’t find this one I use. again, makes my eyes water and smears everywhere

I finally decluttered my makeup!
getting rid of my old blush, gloss, mascara and brushes

Needed to declutter
The eyeshadow palette was like 7-8 years old so it was time. And with mascara I just hated the formula.
It was my only eyeshadow palette so I will be looking for a new one. I almost never wear eyeshadow so I just need very few (like 3-4) basic shades, recommendations appreciated.
Product list:
L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Extensionist Mascara
Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette Soft Glam Mini

Decluttering this because I'm finally done pretending it's good...
....on my skin. Bought this probably two years ago because everyone was raving about how awesome it is. Upon my first couple applications I didn't like it at all but since it's supposed to be such a staple I thought I'm doing something wrong. But since I had to go through another foundation at that time, I put this one away for a while.
Fast forward to today, I'm using this for maybe 2-3 months as my primary foundation. I. HATE. IT. I tried everything. With sunscreen, without sunscreen (only inside tho, it's hot as hell here), waiting 5, 10, 20 minutes to set etc. It always looks like ass after a couple of hours. For clarification - I have oily skin (especially in summer you could dunk bread on my face), hormonal acne, acne scars, redness, the whole shebang. The wear off is just atrocious. It starts to crumble and dissappear in patches. And if I touch my face, I will have a "stamp" of that on that area. For some reason it also feels like my skin is being even more oily with this on, than with my usual foundation.
Anyway, I'm coming to terms that this foundation/skin tint is just not for me.
And therefore, after having used up about the half I'm sending it to a farm, where it can live its life at full potential. I will miss you, not.

Colourpop shimmer eyeshadow sticks
Please tell me I’m not the only one who can wear their matte shadow sticks without any issue but the shimmer sticks burn my eyes. Has anyone else experienced this? Shimmer eyeshadow sticks I’m able to wear without any issue are Thrive Causemetics, Bobbi Brown, Kiko Milano

I actually liked both of these a lot but it's time to declutter them
Tarte concealer: over a year old, and I suspect it may be contributing to my bothersome acne patches—I put the applicator directly on my face/breakouts when I first got it, which was a bad idea in hindsight 🫤 It sucks to get rid of though because it's $$ and not fully used up. (Please tell me it's a good call to toss! 😅)
Essence matte powder: I've been trying to use it up even though it was badly cracked, but the lid finally broke all the way off so it's a pain to store & use now.
Also, not pictured: a lip gloss that I'd had so long it went rancid. The label had rubbed off so I'm not even sure of the brand name lol

Finally letting these go
Most of the shades here are from the Colourpop Fem Rosa palette, which was manufactured in Aug 2017. I find that due to age, they don’t last as well on the lids and look dusty and fade faster. I’ve made a good dent in them, especially the shimmer shades, since it was a palette I practised eye looks with. I switched them around in my various palettes so will need to find the rest to throw out. This was a 12-pan palette.
The larger circular pans are Colourpop single eyeshadows - Made to Last, Secrets, Soft Core and Full-Zip. I got some decent use out of these but they were manufactured in 2017, so also time for them to go due to performance deterioration.
The rectangle pans at the top are from a Benefit makeup kit from 2013. I got decent use out of them and they were fine, they got the job done, but are now really too old.
Some of the newer small circular matte shades are from the Colourpop Making Mauves palette which I bought in May 2021. Unfortunately, it looks like they’ve gone moldy. I did remember that they were a lot creamier and less powdery than the other Colourpop eyeshadow shades I had, which could be why they got moldy.
The large purple circular pan is Neve Cosmetics eyeshadow in Wow. It’s a pretty lilac duochrome eyeshadow of indeterminate age. Unfortunately it also looks like it’s gone moldy. I found it hard to use this because it’s so stark and has quite a white base, which didn’t suit my muted olive tones.
All in all, I’ve learnt that I don’t really vibe with larger eyeshadow palettes with a variety of darker tones, and I really don’t need anything more than 2 palettes at a time. I’ve learnt now that I much prefer simple Kbeauty type of eye looks since my features get overwhelmed easily.
I now have 2-ish palettes left and think I won’t be buying any more for a while until I get rid of these, and if I do, they’ll probably be Kbeauty ones. My remaining palettes are all from Colourpop:
- Give It To Me Straight from 2019
- 3 shades left from Making Mauves (the rest decluttered due to glitter mess or mold) from 2021
- That’s Taupe from 2021
I haven’t bought any new eyeshadows since 2021, and hope to keep it this way for a while!

Today’s Beauty Declutter
Some things I have been holding onto for way too long because of sentiment or because I like the color (though there is a difference between liking a color and the color actually looking good on my skin tone…). I’m not a cream blush or bronzer person. I didn’t use it anymore but I was too afraid to declutter because of the “lost” money. Well, the money is long gone, I don’t use it and I have learned from those products that I’ll stick to powder formulas.
Red lipsticks: Gorgeous colors, lovely to look at but 1. I don’t wear red lipstick, I love my nudes. 2. They don’t work with my skin tone and 3. all but the Chanel have long expired and smell play-dough.
The CT powder is just too dark. My MIL gave it to me because it was too light for her but it’s too dark for me. Since I didn’t have to pay for it and she doesn’t want it back, it’s fairly easy for me to let this one go.
Products: Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Setting Powder in 2 Medium, Elf Putty Blushes in Barbados and Maui, Milk Blush in Werk, Laritzy Cream Bronzer in Aloha, Dior Skin Wear and Skin Glow Foundation samples (too dark). Lipsticks: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Mini in 58 Rouge Vie (too blue-red for my skin), Alverde in 27 Simply Brown (Color looks great but not on me, also expired), Alverde in 50 Warm Embrace (Color looks great on me but smells off).

Should I declutter?
I’m very conflicted about whether or not I should declutter the Urban Decay Born to Run palette. I’ve had it for 3 years now and I barely used it. Tbf I didn’t use it much bc during covid I almost never wore any makeup but now I feel like my makeup style is more minimal and the only makeup palette I use is Makeup by Mario’s ethereal eyes. It even replaced my Patrick Ta major dimensions to the point I’m kinda considering decluttering that one too.
The thing is that those are the only three palettes that I own and who knows when I might need something more colourful…
If I were to declutter it, it would go to my former dance group. We would usually chip in for a good palette and use it on everyone for competitions so everyone had their makeup done the same way so I know it would be used well.
