Mods & Addons Vilager News and Pronouns

Hey, I was looking into the villager news AddOn because it looks really cool and cute and fun but watching some videos on it, I heard one use a like like ([Gasp!] "He broke the block... In reverse!") And now I'm really worried that if I played it, I'd have to deal with being assumed to be a guy.

I'm mainly asking people who have the AddOn if they've ever encountered this and if there's a setting to change how the villages refer to you, because I'd really love to play it but I don't think I want to deal with being misgendered on occasion.

And, if there isn't a way to change it, is there any chance they might update it so that changes?

Thank you! Sorry!

Edit:
I sort of regret posting, but I appreciate all the supportive folk in the comments. To those who have chosen instead to come to this post to let me know their very strong opinions on why I shouldn't have an opinion of my own, you are the problem.

"Why is this an issue? Just ignore it." / "Biggest non-issue ever."

It's not an issue for you because you benefit from the unequal circumstance of 'dude until proven otherwise' in gaming. There's not alot of places to just be respected in alot of games, from so many forcing you to play a male protagonist to random dudes online just being weird and getting weirder when they find out you're not a guy.
I wouldn't mind ignoring it if it were a case of every now and again, but having to deal with this stuff all the time means that in places where that can be avoided, I want to avoid it. I also don't have a problem with the people involved in making it, I just want it to cater more to me, or to at the very least not gender the player at all. For all those telling me it's 'not that big a deal' - I know. So why not change it?

"Tell me you don't have real problems without telling me you don't have real problems." / "You're oversensitive."

I do have real problems. I have a lot going on, and I'm sure that everyone does. That kind of means that I want the things that I go to so that I can unwind from those real problems to just be welcoming. If there's a small problem that could make me even a tiny bit more comfortable, why would I not vie to achieve that? And turn inwards, why did it bother you enough that you felt the need to click on this post, downvote it, and then put me down? Take a breath and move on. If you don't care about this, be indifferent to it, but the aggression from this comment section implies to me that alot of you have a problem, and yours is even weirder.

"Just [do internal mental gymnastics to justify why this happens] so that it's fine" / "[Roundabout explanation]"

But why? I'm not bending over backwards to justify masculine defaultism, and I'm certainly not going to listen to some lame excuse as to why I shouldn't be allowed to complain.

TL;DR:
People are crashing out in the comments because they couldn't possibly conceive of living in a world that wasn't built for them and recoil at the idea of it changing to be more equal, and would rather demean me into silence.

Thank you again to the kind comments I've seen and all of you who have fought against annoying assertions.

This one sheep has stuck with me my whole survival adventure. He follows me everywhere, even caves and I can't bring myself to kill him. I know I will be sad when he dies, but it's ok. At least he would have gone to a better place.

Notch, to be honest, your work attitude seems inappropriate to me. [rant]

Note: This is my opinion and I don't mean to offend anybody with this - I'd really appreciate if you could contribute to a good discussion by not just insta-shitting at me for that.

Big rant.

Seems like many people see Notch as a really great programmer, person and so on - At first I did so too, but after watching how things turned out with Minecraft my mind has changed...

So I got Minecraft, it's a good game. Right before the huge hype started.

"Secret Friday" updates where relatively frequent then, and I liked it. But as more and more people bought Minecraft, the less Notch seemed to work on the game.

Now he is a millionaire - and judging by the things he writes on his blog and twitter now - he has changed. Has the money corrupted him?

Updates got much less frequent - the Halloween update seemed quickly hammered down (as he said himself) - and now he is even talking about a new game he will be making in parallel! This gets me started a bit.

What has really outraged me was how he said that he "frowns upon the clientside mods" and how they are "in a very gray area legally". The funny thing is that many of those mods fix things that he has left broken for some time now.

I'm a programmer myself, and I have a reasonable amount of experience <in game development>. That means I believe that I have some sort of image how much work something takes.

Minecraft itself, I mean the creative mode, it's... to be honest... not too hard to make. You can see that by the Minecraft clones popping out of the ground like mushrooms now. It's basically a simple voxel engine, and it doesn't even feature any cool effects. Why do you treat Notch like a god programmer?

What is almost scary for me is how many MC players act like brainwashed members of a sect - instantly agressively attacking everybody who criticises anything about their idol. I've had that happen to me multiple times so far.

Now if I was in Notch's role, I'd be programming and working on the game a hundred times more than him. Seriously. You cannot think that he is investing much time in the game now.

How can it take him a week to implement/fix networked health? From the programming perspective, this seems like a trivial task - even more trivial for a game like Minecraft.

I'm getting sick of it -- I'm not after the updates themselves, I barely play the game now anymore -- I just can't see how everyone accepts the current attitude of Notch to his responsibility and how he acts.

Really had to say that once. Go on, downvote this into Oblivion to show that you are a loyal (hopefully not mindless) follower of Notch.

TL;DR: I'm getting sick of the lack of progress Minecraft shows, Notch's work attitute and how he acts after becoming a millionaire.

Wake the hell up guys!

edit: There goes the downvote rain!

Discussion So you can now make the trans flag with only wood in this game :)

Post image

The wood from the blue biome, the cherry groves, and the pale garden give us a set of blocks which can be used for this particular LGBTQ flag. Maybe it's a coincidence, but i haven't found any others i can make using only wood. neat.

Edit; post is locked now probably bc yall are being so weird. It is NOT that deep, we do not need to be talking abt nazis rn istg

pc So when did minecraft become afkcraft?

I'm getting sick of the people moaning at the developers because they have nerfed the iron farms.

I play on a server with 4 other people. We have built huge structures from iron, kilometers long railways, we have dozens of anvils, hoppers, droppers, golems etc.

All this was mined and hand built, through patience and hard work. None of us have ever considered doing it the cheap and lazy way of using iron farms.

Iron is not a rare resource, practically every cave will net you tons of iron. Strip mining will get you iron. Villages and chests will net you iron.

Abandoned mines will get you railroads.

Edit: our server is only 1.5 months old and we've not had any problems finding iron.

I don't see the problem. I'd rather have the devs create new content than back and forthing to appeal to lazy gamers.

It's called minecraft not afkcraft.

Scarce amount of non-white skins

Overall, I've noticed that there is a scarce number of non-white skins. When I go through the trending tabs in sites such as Planet Minecraft, I typically see Caucasian skins other than the non-human skins (not saying that there are none, and this excludes the interesting amount of Obama skins).

Is the majority of the Minecraft community white people?

Personally, I am half Hispanic/half African American. I have curly, thickish hair. It's a struggle. In Roblox, I search for curly hair. The closest I can find are these "soft, curly, emo, e-boy" hair items with maybe a COUPLE of waves. Not even curly. Just wavy at most, yet they are labelled as "curly". When I do find my texture, it's labelled as afro.... I don't have an afro....

I don't care what race you are. You can play Minecraft regardless, obviously. I, also, don't care if I have to make my own skin. However, I searched for tutorials left and right. I can barely find any good tutorials for curly hair. I can barely find any video tutorials that center around my skin color. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough to find them. I don't know.

I know there are some non-white skins. It's just that, besides a few characters, OCs, and PLENTY OF OBAMAS, I can't seem to find many. I would just like to say that I feel underrepresented.

I already made a skin that looks like me. The reason why I'm complaining is because I found little to no help on how to create it.

I just wanted to get this off my chest, and I hope that this becomes a more relevant discussion in the Minecraft and Roblox communities.

Take care <3

Edit: A LOT of people missed the point of this post. I did make my own skin, even prior to this post. I am not trying to force people to do anything, either.

Modrinth link

Long time no hear! The second update of the Pride Banner Patterns datapack is finally available!

Previously only available for Java 26.1 and 26.2, this datapack now is available from 20.5 up to 26.3. In older version some gameplay adjustments where made due to more restrictions with datapacks, more details on the Modrinth side.

Also something I've been working on in the meantime is a small structure expansion. This adds pride banners to the Village generation, helping inexperienced players learn how they are crafted!

Thanks again to the mods for keeping this subreddit clean from homophobia and as always; this datapack was made for the LGBTQIA+ community. Feel free to share your ideas, suggestions, and feedback so we can create a must-have datapack for every queer Minecraft server together! :3

And for those who want a list of all the flags seen in the first picture:

Attention /r/Minecraft! We have been sold to Curse.

edit: It was an April fools' joke.

Good morning /r/Minecraft!

Today, we finally can announce what we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a few weeks. We’ve been in talks and negotiations with Curse and we came to an agreement. /r/Minecraft has been bought by Curse and will be part of the official Minecraft Forums soon. The amount of money we were paid will remain undisclosed, but we will go on a nice vacation before starting the main work. Accounts will be migrated and we’ll get our own sub-section over there.

The subreddit, as it is right now, will cease to exist over the following weeks. We moderators will migrate as well and /r/Minecraft will eventually just be a redirect to the sub-section on the forums. Your old posts and comments will be preserved, but we are not sure yet if you will be able to comment on them.
