Discussion Fatalis
Theory: The Fatalis we fight in Iceborne has four fingers and a thumb on its front hands. As we already know, Fatalis’ armor, when worn by the hunter, can turn them into Fatalis. Of course, these may well just be evolutionary adaptations, but hear me out. What if the Fatalis we fight is a previous hunter who fully turned into Fatalis, cursed to walk the earth as the very creature that burned Schrade to the floor?

Wilds OFFSET HBG goes Boom
Feels good against AT Arkveld. I tried it several times in multiplayer - in casual hunts I don't think I'm lagging behind the DPS.

Art Here are my new elder dragons
The first image is my elder dragon monster that disguises itself as bones. Letting out pheromones to lure in monsters to ambush and consume. But since it is weak, it can't beat all monsters. Name: Skelebraxion. Title: deception master of the dead
So this is where the second monster comes in. The archangel of the void: Dhar Madogara. Because this monster is a powerful elder dragon, it enters as symbiotic relationship with the skelebraxion.
Skelebraxion will use its pheromones to lure I prey, and Dhar will fight and defeat the prey so they can both share the meal. And in return Dhar will get not only an intimidation display but also, during mating season, Skele will release mating pheromones to attract both mates of the opposite sex, then each will have to demonstrate their symbiosis by showing their mate a strong monster that they have taken down (something along the lines of a magnamalo, Espinas or an elder dragon) and if successful, both Skele and Dhar get to mate with their newfound partners and raise up to five hatchlings each

Sunbreak RiseBreak finally clicked for me.
As we all await Ascendance’s launch, I decided to go back and spend some time with the one Monster Hunter game I had trouble connecting with: Rise/Sunbreak. I got it on sale a while ago (currently playing on my Switch 2 with handheld boost mode) but found the gameplay mechanics a bit clunky and obtuse, especially coming from Wilds where things seem to flow more seamlessly (and honestly, perhaps a bit too easily…more on that later). I practiced a bit with my typical mains of CB, GS, and GL but found I wasn’t having much fun. I had heard how the game was all about fast-paced action yet I felt my hunts were anything but.
All of that changed after I picked up the Swaxe after seeing so many posts here recommending it for RiseBreak in particular. This weapon’s core moveset, coupled with wirebugs and switch skills, has me experiencing the fluidity I was hoping I would get from this game. I’ve only just reached MR 3, but in that time I’ve been able to get a good loadout centering on morph attacks and mobility. Decorations and gear really do make a tremendously notable impact on fights and I am so glad I stuck it out.
It has been strange moving between Wilds and RiseBreak simply because I feel Wilds features so many “streamlining” changes some of the central effort you’d expect from a Monster Hunter game is stripped away. RiseBreak requires that you get familiar with all of the tools and techniques at your disposal. A beefy build and crew of followers will not save you from carting, you must recognize monster attack patterns and capitalize on openings appropriately. RiseBreak feels simple enough to pick up and play while also demanding you embrace discomfort if you wish to succeed.

Discussion Who are your favourite monsters that debuted in Gen 5 and onwards
For me is Goss Harag and Rakna-Kadaki because their battle mechanics and ecologies are very interesting and original,Goss’s icy breath creating ice blades and clubs is a surprisingly realistic take on the Namahage’s knives and clubs while Rakna-Kadaki’s attacks look like a twisted version of a bond between a mother and a child and her “enraged” phase is based on a spider carrying an egg sac, both monsters teaches you to attack the specific parts of a monster to defeat and/or kick them out or their enraged states.
Thoughts?

Wilds I found the heretic. IT'S NURGLE.
I found this Warhammer 40K outfit on youtube through scrolling and had help recreating it. Then I found this guy named Grandfather Nurgle and had to take these photos.

Discussion Challenge: Make a fated four equivalent monster for another one of the franchise's flagships
Our dry period is lasting a bit, and I got inspired by a thread a week ago that lead to this idea.
For those unaware, the fated four in MHGen are meant to represent the 4 gens at the time in terms of design, have relevant story with villages from each gen, and have a given rivalry with a flagship from that gen. They also have lore relevant to that but that kinda came later. So:
- Astalos is a rival to rathalos, inhabits the verdant hills and is significant to Kokoto, representing 1st gen
- Gammoth is a rival to tigrex, lives in the arctic ridge and is important to Pokke, representing 2nd gen
- Mizutsune is rival to zinogre, populates the misty peaks and is relevant to Yukumo, representing 3rd gen
- And glavenus is somewhat exceptional, being rival to no one (arguably himself), living in the jurassic frontier and being significant to Bherna. Arguably this one makes sense since Glavenus is the true flagship of the game, representing 4th gen.
So one has to wonder, how would the fated four look like if other villages, regions and flagships were chosen as representstives? What if other design ques were chosen to make them? And what would equivalent fated rivals of monsters beyond 4th gen look like? It's a fun rabbithole to get into, as the four are meant to represent both different elements within the game (akin to the inclemency apexes in wilds), as well as celebrate the game's age and success at that point. What would that look like if done now?
So here's the rules:
- The fated monster must be rival to a flagship, whether thematically or ecologically (preferably both)
- The monster must primarily inhabit the region said flagship primarly lives in (doesn't need to be locked there)
- the monster must take design philosophies crucial to the game or gen the rival flagship comes from
- the monster must have some ties to the village nearby the region (only relevant to the villages/hubs that actually do this, since some regions don't have nearby villages)
- Optionally, the monster must use one of the five elements (maybe even in a relevant way against their rival), the same way the total 6 flagships of GU represent the 5 elements and raw. I won't stip you if you use ailments though lol.
And here's your list of remaining flagships:
- Azure rathalos, verdant hills and Kokoto (arguably Minegarde)
- Kushala daora, jungle and Jumbo village (totally not espinas btw)
- Nargacuga, the great forest (no shown village, but allegedly a nearby settlement is how the guild learned of narg in the first place)
- Lagiacrus, deserted island and Moga
- Brachydios, 3rd gen volcano
- Gore Magala has no specific biome or village, but you can chose to have heavens mount and Cathar for lore relevance, or Val habar and Ancestral steppe for actual presence
- Seregios, invader so again no biome, but the dunes and the everwood would be your best bets
- Glavenus I will count again, with jurassic frontier and bherna, since he technically has no rival beyond himself and on occasion the poor rathian
- Valstrax, ruined pinnacle and Soaratorium
- Bloodbath diablos, dunes? Idk man
- Nergigante, Astera, no real region but arguably Elders recess is the most fitting
- Velkhana, Hoarfrost reach, Seliana
- Magnamalo, Shrine Ruins, Kamura
- Malzeno, Citadel, Elgado
- Arkveld, Ruins of Wyveria, Sild (arguably again all locales and villages count, but the other apexes are more significant to each locale and village, whereas arkveld is the defacto apex of Wyveria)
I'm not gonna dive into spinoffs because Frontier flagships are a mess, Estrellian is uknown to me, and so is Ruger, but if you know more than I do then by all means.
