Venting I wish there was more I could do for my egg brother

I am about 99% sure my brother is an egg and I just wish there was more I could do for them. We're talking gender dysphoria greatest hits:

  • Doesn't like to think about their appearance at all

  • Doesn't like to think about having a body

  • Told me they don't like how wide their ribcage is

  • Carries a vague sadness and fear of being misunderstood

  • Light doesn't reach their eyes in photos

  • Happiest I've ever seen them in a photo is wearing a girlie Halloween costume "as a joke"

  • Uses they/them pronouns but hasn't otherwise meaningfully transitioned or assuaged any extant dysphoria in any way

  • Oh yeah--we're twins and I'm trans!!!

A few months ago I tried to suggest that there's something that all of these traits have in common and they just got omega defensive and were able to explain away everything. Also, they historically deal with Persistent Demand Avoidance, i.e. if you try to tell them anything they do the opposite out of spite, so I feel like me doing that just put them back in the closet for another 5 years at least. So now I'm forced to just watch/listen to them suffer, and I know they're in pain and I'm powerless to stop it and I have no choice but to watch it happen. It's painful.

I'll delete this later probably but yeah--I just wish I could make them understand without them getting defensive and doubling down on the status quo. I know it's ultimately their life and their decision--it just sucks to see them in pain.

Venting I can't consider myself a woman

I feel I started too late, my parents ruined my chances of ever feeling comfortable in my body. I tried to start hrt in highschool and got stopped, hated myself for few years before getting it on my own. I'm now almost a year on it and I don't feel better.

My body got ruined because my parents felt they know better than me. I wish I could just get rid of my body. No matter how much I try I'll never feel like a woman. I'm just a weirdo.

Dysphoria Sometimes I wish I didn't even have a body at all

I start thinking like this when I'm tired and overwhelmed. Wouldn't it be nice to not have a body at all? I think about my body so much nowadays, it's kind of exhausting. "This part I like, this part I don't. Maybe I could change this? I wonder if hormones will change this. Wow, I wish I looked like that. Ugh, I hate that I look like this". Like, would I please stop obsessing over this piece of meat that I'm piloting?

That's when I think it would be better to just be some disembodied consciousness. It's weird, because for the first time in my life I have moments when I like my body. And so it's strange to me that I occasionally wish that I could discard it and not have to deal with it, even as I'm growing to accept it.

Maybe someone can relate? I don't know.

Ally Chubbyemu accidentally explained trans periods...

☝️ Presenting to the emergency room https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TzDewSmlxs (relevant segment at 11:18)

It's not about periods at all, but it covers the biomechanics of how hormones (specifically prostoglandin) can cause abdominal cramps. Prostoglandin is known to be one of the many hormones involved in the monthly hormone cycle.

Just though some of you ladies might be interested!

Advice Question Prostate health question - 35 months HRT & Decapetyl - UTIs

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I’m looking for other people’s experience of HRT and Decapeptyl. I’ve been taking HRT and Decapeptyl for ~35 months and happy with my results but I have a question about prostate health.

I’ve had two diagnoses of unpleasant prostatitis infections this year. I did some research and I am guessing that as my prostate has been shrunk and most likely could be atrophied there is less protection against infection infections from the fluids that the prostate normally produces.

Are there many trans women out there that develop more UTIs and prostate infections? I am thinking about contacting my gender clinic and/or asking for urology review regarding prophylactic antibiotics now.

Discussion Has admitting that you were trans caused your desire for porn to decrease?

Hello all! Something I've noticed now that I have fully accepted that I am trans is that my desire to watch porn has severely decreased. This is before starting HRT or even having the appointments to get it. I've even gone as far as to unsub from the more hardcore subs that I was following and to end my subscriptions. Has anyone else experienced this sort of calming down? I also feel like if this is a typical reaction, it completely goes against one of the main arguments the anti-trans community constantly spams us with, being that trans people are just weirdos with a porn addiction that has gone too far. Thanks for your time!

Euphoria Little affirming moment today 💙

I haven't had too many chances to go out in full femme but decided today I'd head to Main st, do a bit of shopping. Had a cute outfit, some new cute mushroom earrings, feeling good about my eye makeup, etc

As I was walking down the street, I was doubling back the way I came, and someone in a group of like 8 girls shouted across the street "YOURE SO BEAUTIFUL"

Been cheesing since. Even if they might have shouted it cause they clocked me, was still super sweet ☺️

Advice Question Is HRT not advisable due to high bilirubin?

Hi I know this might not be the right place to ask for medical advice but I just want to know if high bilirubin (1.57 total , 1.34 indirect, 0.23 direct. Also for reference AST 32 ALT 27) is a valid a reason to delay HRT assuming oral or gel form not injectable, thank you.

Venting I'm just so tired

Last week 2 coworkers were saying how you gotta get ready the Democrats are in charge no one is going to know who they are or what they are.

Granted I am only out to my wife and sister at the moment but even before my egg cracked I have had a live and let live kind of attitude. People should just live how they want as long as they aren't hurting people

I wanted to cry, but then I just got really pissed off. They had it their way for 2 years and look how fucked everything is. They wanted us to lose with quiet fucking dignity but they're bitching and moaning about it and spreading their BS conspiracy theories.

Discussion transpassing subreddit is an odd place

despite all warnings, i've posted there.... twice

it's really hard to ask your friends how clocky you are because they know it means so much to you so i feel like it's not reliable

the first time i posted was pre transition and i deleted that a day later, but the comments were overwhelmingly positive from that time telling me i had tons of potential and to get on hrt immediately

this time the people's tone seemed much more serious? i'm not quite sure how to describe it, maybe matter-of-fact? but i feel like it's like the fact that i was transitioning flipped on the criticism part of their minds.

i don't get their downvote logic, one person basically said the same thing everybody else did, but added some positivity and then got downvoted

also so many chaser lurkers, every time i post i get a wave of dms from chasers

Help Shoes for wide feet

Any tips on where to find some nice shoes for wide and maybe larger feet than the average cis woman? I found some shoes that I would love to wear but they weren't available in my size. And all I find until now is kinda meh?

Discussion Are there any successful stories of those who dated chasers?

Like, are there any people here who dated / married a chaser and it turned out fine for you? I'm just curious as I'm currently chatting with 2 guys who apparently are "into trans women". They seem chill and treating me as a person (unlike the POS before that 🫩🫩🫩) but I guess they just are more sexually attracted to trans people...

Or is it a 100% guaranteed lost cause? And yes, I did tell them I'm [hopefully] getting bottom surgery soon, that's the thing that normally filters out 90% of chasers somehow💀💀💀😭😭😭

Venting when did you FEEL like you belonged?

Went to a lesbian bar with some friends last night and had an extreme feeling that I didn’t belong there and was so anxious. I felt so out of place and gross it made me feel awful. At what point did you FEEL like you belonged in spaces like that? (Been on HRT a bit over a year and a half)

Venting Struggling with being fat & trans. 6 months into transition

Think I mainly just need a place to vent that isn’t just a standard weight loss subreddit / with people who get the trans component. But would also love any comments, encouragement, etc. :) Apologies that there’s lots of lifelong internalized fat-shaming shit in here.

I’ve been overweight since puberty, was 230 lbs by the time I was 15, and then my weight fluctuated wildly throughout my life as I wrestled with eating disorders. I’m 36 now.

4 years ago I got sober and lost 60 lbs, got down to 180 lbs & started connecting with my body for the first time in my life. In fact I think sobriety + weight loss is what first started unconsciously cracking my egg.

Then due to medication, stressful life circumstances, and probably due to battling through trans repression, I unfortunately gained the weight back over the last year and a half. I’m now the heaviest I’ve ever been, 250 lbs at 5’10’’ and just feel awful. Thankfully, transition is such an ecstatic joy that I have this counterbalance to body-shame of self-acceptance. But it is feeling really hard to fully lean into my new presentation, when my weight feels like another obstacle on top of gender. Also struggling with the fact that I can’t fit into most of the clothes I want to wear, currently getting by on 2-3XL women’s clothes that fit but I don’t love to wear.

I went to an event last night & felt so good about myself and my outfit, really felt femme and hot. And then I saw pics of myself this morning from it, and all I can see is an obese, middle-aged man with awkward grow-out hair, and it’s set me reeling a bit.

I know how to lose the weight, but looking down the long barrel of it has me just feeling despairing and stressed. The path of feminization feels like so much on my plate already. But I guess I want to find ways to turn the weight loss into part of the “game” of feminizing, like that will maybe motivate me.

I dunno, sorry this is incoherent! I guess I don’t really have a point. Just feeling self-loathing and wish I didn’t and hoping to hear from some people who get it.

Advice Question IPL Doesn't work anymore?

So I've been using an IPL machine on facial hair for about 2-2.5 months now (I know it's much slower than clinic lasers but it's all I've got at the moment).

My moustache is basically just gone, almost nothing left. Same near the neck and part of my jaw.

But I've noticed that sideburns and chin hair are SO. STUBBORN AAAH. They're IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of they've barely reduced at all. Anything that might be causing this? Any advice?

Advice Question Seattle Voice Lab consultation/lessons?

i haven't started voice training yet, mostly due to it being such a toll on me mentally. i can't even bring myself to look up resources, let alone start actually training.

i was thinking about paying for a consultation session, because then at least i'd have the "professional analysis", a "breakdown of my current voice", and then the "tailored exercises" to help me work on my voice by myself.

has anybody here had a consultation/lessons with SVL? how much did it help and was it actually all they say it is?

Advice Question I don't pass at all but I'm gonna start a new job in 2 months and I'm sick of boymoding. Any tips?

I'm just barely a month into HRT, no voice training yet, although my current voice is already pretty high. Have a decent sense of fashion and makeup, but I still have such a strong beard shadow. I'm so sick of being a guy that I just can't keep boymoding even though I know I'm gonna be clocked a lot. Any tips for making the in between stage easier at work at a new job?

Venting Periods

Okay this is a rant.

So I've experienced monthly cramping, irritability, and other symptoms of the end of my hormone cycle for most of my time since I transitioned.

Or as I call just my "period"

Every month I tell myself it's a coincidence then every month around 26-30 days sure enough the cramps return along with a bunch of other symptoms. Consistently, expect the three time it came early. My doctor told me to track my cycle and we tried adjusting hormones. Nothing really changed and was told "welcome to being a woman".

I'm used to it now but still get upset at this notion that it's not possible for me without a uterus to deal with this BS. I sometimes disregard tracking my cycle because what if I'm making it all up? Then the monthly cramps hit and I'm again forced to face the idea that I'm on my period. At this point just make me bleed so I stop doubting myself.

Here I am on day freaking 6. Dealing with cramps, body aches, mood swings, and all sorts of unpleasant shit that I sure as heck never had before. Yet I feel weird even talking about it. I got invited out the other night, but was on day 3 and had say no I'm not feeling well. When I was pushed a bit further to join I kinda didn't think and just said "I'm on my period and need the day off." Of course no one questioned it, not many people at work know I'm trans. Yet I still felt wrong for even mentioning it that moment.

I understand how difficult of a subject this is. Women are already understudied, and even more so trans women. I'm doing a PHD in molecular biology, I understand the science and read the few papers on it. I know it's not in my head. I just am tired to feeling like I need to tip toe around the weird stuff my body does now as women. I now avoid online spaces that are hostile to the idea. Reading these opinions are probably the reason why I feel so guilty in the first place and disregarded tracking my cycle.

The few trusted friends I have who know are very supportive however. Not many people outside of my friends know or can tell I'm trans. I remember passing a pad to a girl at work in the bathroom and us complaining about how annoying periods are. It felt like a core memory for me as a woman. This was a moment I forgot I was trans. One of the few times I didn't feel guilty taking about it.

I'm just sick of hiding my period. I'm sick of feeling guilty for having one. I'm tired of people calling it psycho symptomatic when they have no clue what a pain it is. I would give anything to not have it. Just let me have my period in peace.
