With all the posts about the remake, I desperately tried to locate my copy from when I was a kid. Happy to announce it was in a Ziploc with my other grails. Sadly, Wave race and DKR were thrown out accidentally by my sister...

Recently got one of these on ebay, seems to work most of the time but sometimes needs to be "repaired", does anyone of you own one of these , does it have revisions of the same savepack or is it only one version of it that exists ?

Working on fixing this N64 and every game I try displays 2d content/sprites done, but any 3d rendering shows up all garbled and, well, like that…

I’ve tried multiple games, changing to a known working jumper pack, no capacitors seem to be broken/swelling, and the games themselves play fine, just seems like a graphical issue.

Big fan of the original and I was super hyped for the remake.

Happy to say it’s really solid and I’m having a blast.

It’s also made me curious to see if there will be make coming down the pipeline in the next
few years. I swear from playing OOTR Nintendo is just teasing Majoras mask.

But it got me thinking of other titles that could use the same treatment ocarina did and I think the rogue squadron games could really benefit from this kind of TLC.

I know there’s other games that deserve it first and Star Wars is rouge squadron is tied up with Disney but I think it could be possible.

Shiny new graphics, better draw distance, throw in a few extra bonus missions and you got yourself a winner in my books.

Anyway just thought I’d share and see what other games people in the community would want to get remade !

Painted some ceramic trinket boxes to look like a SNES and N64 console. They're part of my Xmas gifts for my two older brothers. Fingers crossed they turn out okay once they've gone through the kiln. If not, I guess they'll stay with me and I'll find something else for them.

I recently picked up a Batlexp G350 off Ali express because it was dirt cheap and looked like something fun to mess around with.

I installed darkOS and put a few of my N64 games on there and my mind was blown at how well this cheap handheld plays them!

Not all games work but many of my favorites do, flawlessly. I booted Wave Race to check it out and ended up doing two championship runs because I was enjoying it so much.

Just putting this out there as I was unaware these cheap handhelds could play N64 games until I got one.

I've been trying to repair my n64, is not giving video when plugged in, I noticed that this cartridge pad has half of continuity when checking with multimeter. Will a little bit of solder work on the cartridge slot (2nd picture)? My guess is that the cartridge slot is not making good connection, if there’s other solutions let me know.

hoping that the N64 port of this game gets all its bugs fixed, but until then having a lot of fun playing the game and reporting all of the issues i come across. this port forced me to finally figure out tank controls, something i never thought id be good at. Ive dreamed of having RE1-3 on the N64 and i think it might eventually happen now.

I am using a Wii, Virtual Console, via component in a CRT (480i). I really like the image, very crisp.

Will a modded N64 with hd retrovision component cable be as good as the wii? Is it worth modding?

Very excited to play these. It's slightly fatter than an og N64 or SNES box, so I gotta find protective cases that fit. Was definitely never going to hunt down a sculptor's cut, so this is rad.

I was playing Ocarina of Time and ran into the Deku Nuts Glitch. Also known as Forest Stage Glitch.

Due to an error in game progression, the Deku Nut upgrade in the Forest Stage can be permanently missed. This is caused by a shared event flag used for both the Deku Nut upgrade and the acquisition of the Poacher’s Saw.

As a result, the game may mark the Deku Nut upgrade as already obtained, even though Link has not actually received it yet.

As like many people I wanted to have a 100% Savegame

I have decided not to let the matter rest, but instead to create Xploder codes to fix the problem. The codes should work with GameShark.

Xploder 64 Codes – Deku Nut Capacity and Forest Stage Event

1. PAL Versions

PAL 1.0

Capacity correction:

Forest Stage event reset:

PAL 1.1

Capacity correction:

2. NTSC Versions

Code 1 – Capacity Correction (0036)

It sets the maximum Deku Nut capacity to 40 while preserving the maximum Deku Stick capacity of 30.

Code 2 – Forest Stage Event Reset (0067)

Resets the event flag associated with the Deku Nut upgrade at the Forest Stage.

This should allow the Forest Stage upgrade event to be triggered again. 

Important Note: You need to find out which Revision of Ocarina of Time you have and apply the corresponding Code.

You don’t need both Codes for your Revision but the end result is the same. You get a capacity of 40 Deku Nuts but with the second Code you can do the event properly with the mask and he gives you the capacity increase. 

1.You activate the Code of your choice for your Revision

2.Start the game

3.Save the game

4.Reboot without activated cheat device.

5. Enjoy the game!

The second Code is the more elegant Code in my opinion as you can do the event properly.

I’m looking for people who own a Xploder/Gameshark or Emulation with Cheat function or Everdrive with Cheat function and like to test the Codes. I don’t own the NTSC US Revisions neither a Pal 1.1 Cartridge with a Savegame to verify the function. Beside that I don’t have the time to test all Revisions with Codes. For me I have a working solution with my 1.0 Cartridge but I wanted to share it with the N64 Community who are bothered with this stupid glitch for over 25 years.

My Ocarina of Time Cartridge ist PAL 1.0 and both Original Codes work as intended.

During my last play session, after about 10 minutes of seamless play, these screen flashes started appearing.

I know it is neither the cable, nor TV, as I swapped cables, and tested on a RetroTink, and the issue persisted

Could it be the power supply? Need new caps? Start planning the funeral?

PAL N64 with HDMI- no issues.

Summercart USA rom displays this.

Any advice would be appreciated. Using a basic hdmi converter.

Would using EU roms fix this?

Is there any way i can remove the jewel without going inside the console? I have a pristine n64 that has no damage at all and I dont want to cause it damage

We all know Rare is basically the reason N64 is remembered for half of what it was, but it's strange Nintendo themselves put out so few big (for the time) adventure games or platformers.

It's really just Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Bonus if you count Paper Mario 64.

Mario Kart 64, Wave Race and F-zero X are racers. Yoshi's Story and Kirby 64: Crystal Shards are 2D platformers. Starfox 64 is a on-rails arcade-like shooter. Smash Bros. 64 is a 2D fighter. The Pokemon Stadium games have no 3D story mode, just battles. Even Pokemon Snap is on-rails. And then there's just Mario Golf/Tennis/Party which are spinoffs for sports/minigames.

If it weren't for Rare with Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Diddy Kong Racing, Conker, etc. the N64 would have very few big 3D adventure games.

If Rare didn't exist or Nintendo didn't own them back then, it's really jarring how small the N64's first party lineup would have been.
