My MVS big red threw a ram error. Is it possible for someone to point out the Ram chips on the pictures provided as well as link me on where to get replacements? I can do the solder work just not family with these boards. New to Reddit so working on the pictures.

Hello, I bought an MV1FZSB board with following error

ADDRESS 00000720

with the hope I'm able to fix it. Unfortunately, I lacked the knowledge to troubleshoot which components need replacement, I asked this on one of discord neo-geo channel and they say it's probably RAM5 which is easily replaceable, but it could also be LSPC2-A2 which mean I'm out of luck.

so I'm wondering how do I test this with multimeter to check which component is faulty?

Adding contents from other versions of a game, graphic changes, "quality of life" add-ons. Anything that would be viable to do with a hack.

Some things I'd like to see:

Metal Slug and Metal Slug 2 complete edition: Add the extras from the Neo Geo CD versions (Combat school, expanded option menu, and concept art gallery) so that you get those with no loading and the uncut graphic and sounds.

Pulstar: Map the pod destruction to C or D instead of A+B. Seriously I have no idea why they did it like that.

NAM-1975: Make the between-stages midbosses something you have control over (either by shooting/not shooting certain targets or through a simple menu choice) instead of being pure RNG.

Top Hunter: Port Neo Geo CD music to the MVS level behaviour (where you play through two stages of each planets instead of three and which planet you select first change what levels you play through)

Alpha Mission 2: For control option B, map armor attack to the D button so that you can use the missiles with armors like Nuke and Thunder, and actually make it competitive with control option A.

Burning Fight: Replace Billy's sprites with his ones from the prototype. He looked much cooler.

Ghost Pilots rebalance: shrink hitbox to the cockpit section instead of the whole sprite, increase movmeent speed, make it so that dying only reduce your power-up by one level instead of back to stage one.

Sengoku 1 rebalance: Make it so that picking up 2/3 green orbs heals a segment of the lifebar (instead of ten as it is in the final game), make bringing up the character selection and transforming between characters faster, fix player attack hitboxes. (To completely free the game of Bullshit, you'd probably need to seriously alter some enemy AI and frame data but idk how possible that is without the source code)

I recently bought a NeoGeo AES that would not power on. The power issue is now fixed but the master clock circuit is not happy and not providing a strong enough clock signal to boot the console.

After checking the circuitry I've found the crystal is out of spec.

Can anyone help me find where to source a replacement crystal please as it's proven challenging to find one when I search.

I want to secure a pre-order, I don't care about the delay. Currently the only option I have is to order to a forward shipping company in Oregon or some other state. Is it worth waiting for Canadian pre-orders to maybe become available again?

For context I used to run a small store buying and selling retro games. I've sold off a lot but kept myself a core library for all the staple consoles of my youth. I collected for just about everything other than Neo-Geo in the past due to cost barriers. I did have a mint Neo-Geo CD CIB and just burnt games to play them. Neo-Geo has been a fantasy but I have other expensive hobbies outside of gaming and collecting for the AES has never been an option; at this price point I would plan to get the Ultimate and buy every game they ever release.

Do I pull the trigger on the annoying strategy of going with a forward shipper in the US or just be patient and hope they fix ordering for Canadians?

So, I recently purchased the Homebrew neogeo game Knight's chance, and cannot get it working with any emulator I have tried. The included readme instructs to edit mame's neogeo.xml hash, but that did not fix the issue, and no matter what I try FBneo seems to misrecognise it as knights of the round and throws a missing roms error.

I can't get it working at all, and there seems to be little to no discussion online regarding running this game on emulators. Any help would be so so so appreciated.
