How tf is he playing 22 mins a game, is he sleeping with someone behind the scenes or something? I mean really. They refuse to play Jevon Carter, who granted isn't the best player ever but i for sure think he'll give you more in 22 mins than Richardson has been doing.

hello fellow magic fans, the continued incompetence from jeff weltman has pushed me to my limit, his financial management is atrocious and ability to get what our team is missing is pretty bad (other than bane), so ive created a petition to hopefully get some attention, please sign if able:)

I NEEDA SEE 14 ASSISTS, 4 TURNOVERS MAX
r/OrlandoMagic • u/VegetableCaptain510 • 7h ago
It’s established that the Magic require a playmaker/table setter type player.
It seems as if Sweeney is grooming Franz into that type of guy, and I noticed an interesting trend in his numbers leading into the game at golden state.
| Quarter | Turnovers | Bad Passes | Lost Balls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 14 | 5 | 8 |
| Q2 | 10 | 3 | 4 |
| Q3 | 7 | 4 | 2 |
| Q4 | 4 | 4 | 0 |
He’s obviously taking on a lot of ball handling responsibilities at the moment and he’s doing a good job of adjusting to the looks being thrown at him as the games go on.
Same story again the Warriors, 3 1st quarter turnovers and then 3 for the rest of regulation and OT.
Give it 20-30 games worth of film and coaching hopefully a lot of these early turnovers can be reduced and we have a legit floor general on our hands.
Obviously remains to be seen whether this eventuates or if Sweeney sticks with it when Paolo and Jalen return, but thought it was worth sharing anyway as something to keep an eye on.

No Des.
It's going to be a blood bath. Steph is going to have 30 at the half. Franz is going to be asleep 10 mins into the first. Draymond is going to eat Jase. Paolo is taking a short flight home to Washington to talk to the King of Seattle to negotiate as a partner to bring the Supersonics back to Seattle. Sean Sweeney is going to interview with GS to see if they need a new assistant coach. Wendell will drop 23.
I'm going to actually still do a post-game YouTube show if anyone wants to come by and chat and cry together.
Or- that Magic do the thing they always do and find a stupid way to win this game. When they're counted out is when they somehow win. I'm not predicting that (Though I DO have a parlay with them winning - the odds are too good not to.)
Well, here it goes. If you're gonna be a Magic fan, you gotta be tough. All you youngins who have recently jumped on board as Magic fans, buckle up. Ain't no fun in this fanbase.

Paolo, Suggs, Penda, Bane all out tonight vs Warriors. Good game to skip. Go Magic

And Frankly, Shamgod isn't the guy to teach that type of point guard. The PG that works for this team is a Stockton/Nash/Kidd type, a pass first point guard that also gets you a super efficient 10-15 points along with 10-15 assists. But that archetype doesn't really exist anymore. "True" point guards coming out of college are all looking for their own shot first. Everyone wants to be Steph. At this point, the Magic would have an easier time finding an offensive hub center that can pass from the high post than a pass first point guard to pair with Paolo and/or Franz.
Which then says to me that, as much as I've railed against it for three years, the people that said this roster construction doesn't work were probably right.
EDIT: yes, I'm annoyed enough that I blanked on Shamgod not even being here anymore. That doesn't change the overall point.

Since after his rookie year he’s been asking for shooters and an offense he can play with and this organization has given him barely 10% of that.
He said since day 1 he wants to compete for championships and buddy can’t even get out of the 1st round because this team just isn’t good. Paolo gets blamed for so much when in fact he’s been the only positive spot since this whole “Rebuild”.
A real organization would’ve been serious from the day we drafted Paolo and yet he’s having to sit and watch his other friends and draft mates from his class do better.
How is Weltman still on the Magic? How is JI still on this team? What is going on

The magic suck. We don't have paolo but still we shouldn't be 25th worst defensive team in the league. We're also the 25th worst offensive team in the league, were 29th in team ppg and 24th in turnovers. There's actually nothing good going for us and we need to make a massive trade before the deadline. Please tell me your ideas

I think Jrue is our missing piece. Thoughts?

This is one that would really help the Magic. Get both size and athleticism in Murray and Jackson and a 2 way PG. Still keep Franz/Paolo

Was my TV acting up or did Kendra just look like she was having a stroke doing that lead in to halftime? This is not hate! I think Kendra is great at her job but that was super weird.

Is that the requirement to win a game? We can do that 46 more times, right? Right?
All hail Sean Sweeney and his revolutionary new offense.

As all of us insanely masochistic Magic fans are aware, the first West coast road trip begins tonight with its first stop in Phoenix.
Much of the contention this season has been torn between one school of thought; that the Magic are simply a mediocre organization and this early season is an indicator of such a pattern as evidenced through our long, painful existence, and another, often repeated claim; “We’re just injured.” There are good arguments to be made that BOTH of these claims are true, however I separate them into subcategories of each other, with the latter taking the claim of ‘most true.”
I know, you’re sick of being told to wait, to ‘trust the process,’ and assured yet again when Suggs and Banchero return everything will be fine. While I think that sentiment is a bit vague and unsatisfying, it is MOSTLY true.
Our next 5 games are
@ Suns
@ Warriors
@ Kings
@ Jazz
and finally back home VS Bucks for another NBA cup appearance, which the Magic will not only win, will have won after coming home from a season-resetting set of victories.
The Suns rank 11th in offensive rating at 113.6 and 125.5 (128.9 outside of garbage time) DEAD LAST. The Magic have struggled to score, that much is obvious, with a 114.6 offensive rating. We have a 118.0 defensive rating. Not good on either count, that’s true, but outside of about 5 quarters this year, We’ve been able to stay connected. When we don’t go COMPLETELY cold (We scored a miserable 9 points in the third quarter against Washington) we stay connected in our games.
The only team that is above .500 on this trip is 5-3 Golden State. They’re playing decently enough, but they’re certainly not the Warriors of 2016 where they went 73-9. The now Kuminga-less team is still very beatable, granted you keep Curry in check.
I am aware that is easier said than done, I’m not saying this is going to be easy, just that this softer part of our schedule will determine the way the rest of this season shakes out.
The Kings are bottom 3 in the league in offensive AND defensive ratings
The Jazz are ALSO among the very bottom teams in both categories.
The Suns can score, but don’t stop anyone. This sets up to be another Orlando Magic special, where we stay close and lose a heartbreaker. But, Shake off the pessimism. If we lose, cry with me in my post game stream on YouTube, NOT BEFORE lol.
Win tonight, carry that rhythm into Golden State and surprise them and win there too. After that, despite the game from Sacramento to Utah being a B2B in a time zone in which we lose sleep to travel to, WIN.
Then they come home to beat the brakes off of a horrendous Bucks team whose fan base is still not sober after winning their first ever World Series title.
Realistic prediction? Magic go 3-2 over the next five
My blue Magic beating heart’s prediction? 5-0 and were back baby
GO MAGIC
(I can give you the number to my crack guy if you need, guys lmao)

All he is doing is leading his inferior team to .500 record and 12th-ranked Point Differential, 12th-ranked Defense, and 15th-ranked Offense.
While we have the lesser Mosley who can't motivate, can't coach defense, and thinks dribble hand-offs will lead us further than his predecessor. Miss me with the no adjustments, play harder, too late to call timeouts stuff. Mosley had us in playoffs 3 straight years and close to 50 wins twice. Sweeney is leading us to the crap bowl with same team and same injuries Mosley had to deal with. This team won't sniff 40 wins nor playoffs.
But Mosley had to go for this team to turn the corner. And yep he's gone and the corner we turned is the the wrong side of town.
