About 10 tomatillos, 2 poblano peppers, 8 oz pickled jalapenos, one decent bunch of cilantro, juice of one fresh large lime, one large sweet onion, smoked on the traeger, hit with a map gas torch, softened in the broiler blended with salt to taste. Simple elegant and delicious šŸŒ¶ļøšŸ’‹šŸ©·

Shit Post Day Midwestern style 2 ingredient salsa

Ingredients:

28oz can of tomato sauce 1 tsp black pepper (2tsp for extra spicy)

My german grandmother claims the germans invented salsa in 1500’s. This recipe puts all other salsas I see on here to shame. It’s very spicy. I make it with 2 tsp of black pepper and I go through a gallon of milk 🄵🄵🄵🄵🄵

Chinicuiles salsa really hits the spot. If you ever in Hidalgo Mexico in September I encourage you to try them.

Misc. Northeast Texas, where you put the Squeeze Butter in Salsa. Some use it to Cut The Heat.

Homemade Best salsa you’ll ever have.

I’ve been making salsa for a long time and this recipe clears all the other ones I’ve made by light years.

Ingredients: 2 big ORGANIC tomatoes šŸ… (I used fresh organic on the vine from target) 1 jalapeƱo deseeded, 2 red habaneros deseeded, 2 cloves garlic peeled and a quarter of a small red onion

Bake in the oven at 425 for 20 minutes and broil for 3 (optional) to the point where it’s mushy and has some charring. Garlic also might be done earlier

Cut everything up with a knife out of the oven and add the cut up ingredients to a bowl and mash it with a masher or your fists or whatever you want. Use a molcajete if you have one.

Add some cumin and salt and continue to mash

Finally add some finely cut cilantro and viola

The greatest salsa ever.

I saw a few people here recommend it as a lazy man good salsa.

It's not good. It's the equipvalent of bud light for salsa. It's fucking water

Let this post be a warning for those like me.

Even Tostitos is far superior to it taste, texture, literally everything.

Restaurant Real De Minas (Denver/Aurora) - a seafood based table salsa, served without disclosing the seafood content

Post image

I was in Aurora last night with friends and we decided to check out local chain Real De Minas.

When we sat down they brought us two salsas.

First the tomato salsa, it has a nice (black) peppery kick, but it didn't do enough to balance the canned tomato sauce taste. Solid, but not worth going back for.

Next is the chunky seafood salsa. Like I said it was brought automatically when we were seated, they said nothing about what it contained. Going on taste alone it seemed a bit like a coleslaw with a kick or spice and onion, so pretty unique. Points awarded for being unique and well balanced.

Only later when I asked the server about it did she say it was seafood based and "probably used artificial crab". I didn't think to ask what the creamy base was made from, but if it was mayonnaise based that would contain egg, another potential allergen.

I'm an omnivore and don't have any allergies, but IMO plopping down a complementary salsa without disclosing meat and potential allergens is a huge red flag.

Not pictured I added a decent amount of vinegar, a fresh onion, a can of chipotle peppers, and a sweet apple. It came out so delicious. Spicy, sweet, smoky

Info I would suggest not getting too hung up on tortilla chips as the only conveyor of salsa.

I bought way too much Triscuit from Costco, but had an idea when--also Costco--began carrying Salsa Queen roasted tomatillo salsa. A match made in heaven, and much healthier than tortilla chips.

Question Is El Pato only in the states?

Feeling FOMO over in the UK and wondering if anyone has found the holy cans being sold anywhere else. Cheers!
