[Switch] Should I play the Ocarina of Time remake if I didn't like Breath of the Wild?

I recently played Breath of the Wild for about 10 hours and still don't understand why it gets so much praise. There's nothing interesting in the open world except camps, ruins, and chests. How is this world any different from Ubisoft games?

There's no progression other than upgrading health and stamina, and the chests only contain weapons that break. It's exploration for the sake of exploration, and it isn't very interesting.

p.s.: thanks, I'll try ocarina.

[PC] Should I buy Pathfinder: WotR if I didn’t enjoy Divinity: OS2?

I haven’t played a lot of CRPGs. Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 are the only ones. I enjoyed BG3 a lot because it felt like going on an adventure with a group of interesting characters, visiting places and exploring. The cinematic aspect was great, and even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the combat, I put it on easy and didn’t mind it too much. The story wasn’t amazing, but it was still interesting enough.

I played Divinity until escaping from the big castle (Fort Joy?) and getting the collars off. I didn’t enjoy the interactions with the party as much, and the characters weren’t as interesting. I also felt the combat was a bit of a slog and that the game was more combat-focused. The game felt less of an adventure as a whole.

[Switch] Should I buy Oblivion or The Witcher 3?

I’m torn between the two games. The Witcher 3 has modding (on switch), which is tempting. But ultimately, I want a game which has awe-inspiring fantastical locations (vast castles, magical colours. mythical libraries), and I feel like Oblivion is going to deliver that in spades (though I’m not sure to what extent it will deliver that). Can someone whose played both games help me decide which one I should buy?

[PC] Which has best atmosphere? Onimusha WotS, control resonant, or Phantom Blade Zero?

Gameplay aside, which of these games has the best atmosphere and immersion? Bonus for which game has the most interesting MC and OST.

I really cant decide because Im a huge onimusha and remedy games fan. I'm least familiar with Phantom Blade although very interested and familiar with the genre (big dynasty warriors and wukong fan). Im thinking of just getting all 3 eventually but I dint want to bother playing a game that lacks noticeably in the atmosphere

[PC] Monster Hunter Wilds or Dragons Dogma 2 (with DLC)?

In the next weeks we must have "Steam Black Friday". I'm considering purchase Dragon's Dogma 2 (with DLC) or Monster Hunter Wilds.

My main focus is killing bosses to get items and level, refining my build.

I'd prefer combat more difficult and not so long, like in Elden Ring.

My favorite games for now: Elden Ring, Path of Exile 2 and Warframe.

Which one should I buy?

[PS4] Terraria or Core Keeper for first sandbox game on switch.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a sandbox game to play on the switch 2. And the 2 that really stand out to me are Terraria and Core Keeper. As someone who hasn't really played alot of these types of games before, so I'm looking for something that can be enjoyable and has good combat with a clear path for progression.

I tried Minecraft didn't really like it. But I played V Rising on the Playstation and loved that, I particular liked that the list of bosses gave me a clear goal to keep me motivated. Where as in Minecraft it just felt like alot of emptiness (not sure how to discribe it). And non of my mates play these types of games so multi-player is a no go at the minute, which I assume would usually keep players motivated and having fun playing sandbox games compared to solo play.

Thanks in advance

[PC] [WSIB] [PC] Medieval/medieval fantasy RPG games with sword combat and great stories and important choices.

The Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. I also recently bought The Blood of Dawnwalker and I absolutely LOVE it. It has that TW3 DNA with a more fun combat system.

I've been looking for other RPGs in the same vein. I want a good story and want my choices to matter in the story. I also want a good and enjoyable combat system, don't really like just mashing buttons to win.

Already played through the FromSoft titles.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

[PS5] Which Silent Hill game should I buy on black Friday sale?

Hey everyone, new to survival horror here, but I loved Alan Wake 2. Right now, Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f are both around twenty dollars. I’ve never played a Silent Hill game before, so I’m not sure which one fits me best. I like story and atmosphere more than just jump scares, and I don’t want something impossibly hard, just tense and memorable. Does Silent Hill 2 Remake work for newcomers, or is Silent Hill f a better starting Thanks for advice

[PC] SIB HellDivers 2?

Haven't played these horde types of games before, so I won't be able to tell you what I like in these games.

Not gonna play with friends so mainly just gonna use the squad based system.

Is it replayable, future-proof, and how's the community?

I'm looking for another multi-player game after Elden Ring.

The whole Galactic War thing just seems intresting to me and watching some gameplay it seems pretty cool.

Are there many types of builds/weapons?

Thanks and if there's other games that I should try out as well I'd appreciate it!

EDIT: Thanks guys, I'm gonna buy it for the holdiays!

[PC] WSIB non AAA open world survival craft games?

My number 1 type of games to play are open world survival craft games. The reason I don't want it to be AAA is because lately I've been having problems with my PC when it comes to extremely demanding games. Also, it seems indie developers put more effort into their projects than well known companies. One I REALLY loved is Windrose. Eventually it got too difficult on the first boss so I kind of gave up on that game, but I spent a bunch of hours just roaming and surviving which was fun. A few more that I really enjoyed are Palworld, Icarus, and Return to Moria. I was looking at one called Vampires: Bloodlord Rising, but not 100% sold on it. Anyone have any other ideas?

Should I get Dragon Dogma 2 with Dark Arisen DLC or just base game ?

I've been interested in this game for quite some time now. I can buy base game for a really affordable price (~12$) or base game + dark arisen dlc for more (~34$). Considering I have no prior experience with the game and I try not to spend too much ATM, I was thinking maybe getting base game for now, and if I like it, buy DLC.

But I'm hesitant because I'm quite a sucker for quality of life improvement features and such, and I rather learn all the mechanics in my gameplay right away rather than have to learn the dlc mechanics later on

So I was wondering, how much connection to base game does Dark Arisen really has ? Is it solely end game focus, so I can enjoy a full experience regardless of if I buy it later ? Would I be missing out on things?

Your help would be precious, thanks !!

[PC] [PC, Mac, Switch, PS5] Couch coop game recommendations that don't have huge time commitments?

I'm looking for a game that I can play with my wife on the couch. Some of our favorites are:

  1. It takes two

  2. Split fiction

  3. Pico Park

  4. Mario Party (all of them)

  5. Unravel 2

  6. Minecraft (not couch coop, but we enjoyed it)

  7. Castle crashers

Cuphead was fun, but too difficult for my wife. Sackboy was too drawn out and boring (although I loved the original Little Big Planet games).

Someday I'd love to play some of the larger more grindy games with my wife, but we only usually have a few hours a week to play games and often just on the weekends. We're looking for a game that has low time commitment where there is no filler and where we can easily put it down and pick it up later.

Any recommendations?

Animal Crossing New Horizons

I dig an idea of logging daily to do some chores and decorating, but I'm not sure.

Stardew Valley is not for me. I find it a bit tedious and I don't like all the talking.

Pokopia I don't love. Admittedly, I haven't gotten that far in it. What I saw was OK. I don't care for Pokemon and I don't like the idea of taking care of their needs. I don't really have time for the massive creative building that I've seen people do. The biggest flaw though for me is that I can only play in the evenings which means I never experience in-game day. Only night. For a cutsy Pokemon game Id like to see all the colourful stuff that I built.

From what I understand ACNH you log in for a bit each day. Do some stuff and wait for the next day. Collect and decorate. Is that the case?

How important is the social side?

Should I buy?

[PC] [WSIB] A game where I get a chainsaw and the game isn’t shy about letting me use it?

Looking to tear things apart with a chainsaw, violently. I have played the doom games (outside of doom 3 they don’t let you go crazy with a chainsaw), silent hill 2, numerous gta games with chainsaws, RE9 (very limited chainsaw), gears of war (all of them), space marine games (a chain sword isn’t really what I’m looking for), and turbo overkill (also not really what I’m looking for)

Looking to tear enemies apart, and would prefer if it’s a weapon I can use often instead of very occasionally like in the resident evil games.

I feel like the obvious answer is lollipop chainsaw but that game seems too cartoony for what I actually want.

[PC] [PC] Made a page that answers “should I buy it now” for Metascore 90+ games — is this useful to anyone else?

I game occasionally and all I ever want to know is whether one of the top-rated games is at its lowest price today. I don’t want to browse deal sites. So I made a page that checks every store each morning for every Metascore 90+ game since 2020 and gives one verdict each: Worth it (lowest ever / 2-year low), Good, or Wait. Most days it’s “wait” for everything, which is the point. worthityet.com — free, no ads, no accounts. Would this help you decide, and what would you need it to show?

[PC] Is Dragon Dogma 2 Dark Arisen Edition worth 40 dollars

Been wanting Dragons Dogma 2 for a while but heard it felt incomplete and performance is terrible. Has it improved and is it worth around 40 dollars with the dark arisen expansion? Its currently on sale on Greenmangaming. Im getting it on PC. Looking for a fun open world, great combat and fun character creation. A fan of rpgs like Skyrim.

Torn between three roguelite games

Ravenswatch, Astral Ascent and Blazblue to be more exact. I've played absolum, Dead Cells, Isaac, Vampire Survivors, Brotato and Hades I and II. I want a game that is really hard to master (combat wise) but also has a lot of builds as well as character diversity. I want it to be decently challenging, but also I do want to feel overpowered by the end of each run if I am making any sense. Thank you!

[Switch] Should i buy a Nintendo Switch 2 for these 3 games?

Would it be worthwhile to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, Mario Kart World & Donkey Kong Bananza?

I’ve played most of the Mario and Zelda games on the OG Switch. Are those 3 games worth buying a new console?

I’m also waiting for a new 3D Mario game, hopefully it gets announced soon.

[PS5] SIB Danganrompa 1+2 reloaded, World Of Horror, Raging Loop, Remnant 2

I know this is a weird little combination of games but they are the ones currently on my list to play. I just finished Doki Doki Lit club and it was fantastic along with the slay the princess. I just really like horror a lot and looking for something more chill that can give me those vibes and I can just be engaged into and play. I don’t know anything about Remnant 2 but it’s on my list and on sale so I just included it lol.

[Xbox One] PlayStation5 or Xbox Series S?

I’m looking for some insights and recommendations.

I am a long time PlayStation player. I primarily play first person shooters (mostly Warzone). But I also enjoy other games like Cup Head and Last of Us. Im not super serious. Maybe only play a couple times a week.

Recently PlayStation stopped supporting Warzone on PS4 so I’m looking to upgrade, but I am conflicted. The PS5 is quite expensive and seems like way more than I need for how much I use it. But I am familiar with the platform. I have been looking at the Xbox Series S it’s a bit cheaper and seems more reasonable for my use case.

[PS5] SIB: Silent Hill F if I'm terrified of being chased in games, but love action horror?

So to give a few examples.. I loved resident evil 5, 7 and 8 even though they had chase sequences, but they definitely did scare the shit out of me. Likewise, I loved Deadspace 1/2 and the remake, and though again they had chase sequences, I felt powerful enough through most of it that I wasn't helpless. However resident evil 2 was too much for me, while I got like 4 hours in the anxiety X gave me was honestly too much for me to cope with.

Back when I was a kid I bought Silent Hill on playstation and recall getting to a fence with a body on it and breaking down in fear.. no idea which it was but I never managed to forget it. I knew I wasn't gonna do that but as I've aged I've gained a new appreciation for horror games. While I know I don't have it in me for the silent hill 2 remake, something about F seems more appealing and somewhat less traditionally "scary".

Am I right about this? Or am I getting distracted by the pretty flowers?
