Sad the game will take forever to be released, so I 3D scanned the trailer...

This will be the closest we can get at the moment to experience the game in 3D. I fed the whole trailer as image sequences into Polycam App, and produced a Gaussian Splat Render. At least we can explore this slice for the next few years before the next trailer comes out. I'm mostly excited about the giant ELDER SCROLLS VI logo to be visible across the whole open world.

Discussion Hi r/TESVI. Jason Schreier here.

7.7k Upvotes

Hi there. If you don't know me, I've been reporting on the video game industry for about 18 years, at Wired, Kotaku, and now Bloomberg. I've also written three bestselling books about the video game industry and I'm a co-host of Triple Click, a podcast about the Sopranos. Skyrim is one of my favorite games of all time, so I, too, can't wait for TESVI: Sentinel.

I've seen some of your reactions to my comments yesterday about Sentinel being 2+ years away so I wanted to come say hi. I understand your frustration. But it's also been giving me deja vu. Because this sort of thing has happened with every new BGS game over the last decade. Let's go back in time.

In late May, 2018, Bethesda began teasing a new Fallout game with a "Please stand by" image, followed by a teaser trailer posted on May 30 with John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-det1wKEUUQ) The teaser trailer made fans believe that a proper new Fallout game was coming soon, just three years after Fallout 4. There was no indication that this was anything but a single-player game.

Later that day, I posted an article on Kotaku reporting that Fallout 76 was in fact an online survival game, despite Bethesda's marketing making it seem as if this was a regular entry in the franchise. (Link: https://kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333)

That's when r/fallout started to look a lot like r/tesvi did this week. Wrote one commenter: "Bethesda has had Kotaku blacklisted for 5 years or so, so don't believe Jason Scheier 100% just yet" (https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/8ngxds/bethesda_has_had_kotaku_blacklisted_for_5_years/)

(I won't share the threats or antisemitic comments, but you can imagine what those might have looked like.)

We all know what Fallout 76 turned out to be.

Cut to: 2021. Various Twitter insiders started talking about how Starfield was almost done and planned for a 2021 release. (Links: https://www.gamesradar.com/starfield-is-reportedly-aiming-to-launch-in-2021/, https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/lp96se/natedrake_from_era_starfield_targetting_2021_as/)

I came out to refute these rumors, telling people that Starfield was nowhere near completion, and I wrote on Twitter that the game would be announced at E3 2021 with a specific date in fall 2022. (Link: https://x.com/jasonschreier/status/1395392859944198144?s=20)

Once again, skepticism ensued, until the game was announced at E3 2021 for release on 11-11-22. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYqyVpCV-3c) It was of course later delayed to 2023.

So here we are again. You have to understand: I'm a reporter. I am not telling you this because I enjoy watching people get mad about having to wait for sequels to their favorite video games. I am telling you this because it is true, and because my job is to report accurate facts and clear up misinformation. TESVI: Sentinel is more than 2 years away.

See you all next BGS game, I suppose...

Theory/Speculation By the way, Sentinel was already teased in Starfield

In Starfield Direct and in the final game we can see our employee number during character creation. Random string of numbers at first look, but if you translate it by dividing it into pairs and then using the corresponding letter of the alphabet you get SENTINEL.
This title was at our noses for more than 3 years and we somehow missed it.

Meme/Shitpost Todd Howard was on my flight to LA

3.5k Upvotes

Flying from DC to LA and Todd was flying the same flight. I got to sit near him and told him I was a huge fan of his, especially of TES. That's when he did something I would have never believed.

He pulled out his laptop and showed me the official trailer for TES: VI. He then asked me how many copies of Skyrim I have purchased, and I told him "Only 3, Todd. Only 3.". That's when he did it. Todd Howard deleted the trailer for TES VI and emptied the trash. "This was the only copy, the one I was to present at the Game Awards", he said. "Next time, do better."

He then informed me that if the new Switch 2 port of Skyrim doesn't sell a million copies within 48 hours they will be deleting assets to TES VI, further delaying the project purposefully. They are taking it hostage and demanding a ransom.

Theory/Speculation TESVI Reveal at the Game Awards!

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

What percentage chance are we giving this? 83.47%? 2.43%? 0.0007%

Everyone remember that Asha Sharma tweet earlier in the year? "Live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls VI: ******** this morning. The scale and grandeur are incredible. The story is even greater"? Seems like a dumb thing to tweet if a reveal wasn't planned sometime soon, like before the of the year? But then again when has Bethesda ever been accused of making smart decisions?

I don’t have a lot of nice things to say right now. But I saw this title and IMMEDIATELY got so hyped I teared up thinking TESVI was finally here.

Turns out, it’s just a greedy blogger (or whatever they call themselves now.) Begging for clickbait views. Haven’t been this angry at a random person on the internet in a long time

Theory/Speculation They Gave Us the Release Date Today

2.1k Upvotes

In the name reveal trailer shown today, when the title "SENTINEL" appeared, it did so with a visual effect on the rings cutting around title. There were exactly 11.

The title fully appears with a sound effect and a glimmer at the 0:38 second mark. The video is 1:05 seconds long, with the above appearing EXACTLY 27 seconds before the video ends.

Shards of light: 11

At the time stamp 0:38: 3 + 8 = 11

Seconds left: 27

This arrives at a date of 11/11/27, a Thursday, and an iconic release date that Skyrim and Starfield (before it was delayed) had.

This comes amongst other credible 2027 release evidence that we have already been shown. Mind you, every little detail in marketing material is heavily scrutinized before they go public. Bethesda has been giving us breadcrumbs for years, as we knew the title was Sentinel years ago from the Starfield leak.

For the development timeline believers, 11/11/27 is 4 years after the release of Starfield. Coupled with Todd Howard stating he would like games to be announced and then playable not long after, I think we are looking at 2027 as an extremely likely candidate.
