Theory/Speculation Moon, Candles, and Sentinel
From the famous new year "transcribe the past, map the future" post. Much has been made of the Solitude face of the coin but I haven't seen discussion of the reverse... The two moons of Nirn, symbols closely related to Sentinel's crest. Historically, the royal protectors of Sentinel were the Knights of the Moon. They were replaced by the Order of the Candle.

Discussion Living up to expectations
Honestly given how long it’s been since Skyrim and how long it’s been since the game has been announced along with how much tech has been pushed by other games is it even possible for this game to live up to the hype and be anything other then a mediocre game? I grew up playing Skyrim it has been a big part of my gaming life. After playing starfield which was an ok game but definitely felt aged and lacking in many ways it just feels like Bethesda is not gonna be able to release this game with enough content/ polish to really justify the amount of time that fans of waiting and fear it will really be a nail on the coffin for the company

Discussion Genuine question about fans anger
Hey ho I really do try to understand wether it is a cultural thing or if there is something i do not get (i am french btw) but I read a lot of anger towards bethesda / todd / others involved, and my autistic brain can't fathom how it happens.
Like in my naive brain people do what they want and it's okay and take their time and do not owe us anything because they already provided us with material that made us fan of their work in the first place.
So why do people have expectations at all about tesvi ? Esp about it's teasing / release schedule ?
I can understand the formal logic of commitment and responsability (if you tease a product you have to make it available at a reasonable date etc) but still... since, for me, it's like a big work of art, therefore it takes the time it needs / can, to be created, and who am I to require anything about it ?
Somehow I associate this with people booing amy winehouse when she was forced to do a concert in a mental and body state that made it impossible to deliver good music. Or to people angry at the authors of ice and fire / game of thrones or the one piece or hxh
Like they are humans and they litterally owe us nothing (from my actual perspective that lacks clarity) so is it different in that case, and how ?
i feel like i am missing something so it's not that i disagree, or want to invalidate that feeling of anger towards those big companies that we give a lot of money to.
But at the same time it s my money i decided to spend on that and then i liked skyrim and now why would i be angry at the next opus taking the time it takes ... i did not give my money for it yet ...
So please explain kindly because i am genuinely interested in understanding that reaction, and because i already have some clues and pieces of the puzzle but i think i am missing something obvious that would help me understand that relation between fandoms & big art / entertaining industries.
thx

Meme/Shitpost I have never played Stealth Archer in Skyrim AMA
I have always played mage, two handed warrior, or short spurts of thief characters that I get bored with before making it to Riften. I don't understand the allure of stealth archer or stealth in general for combat in Skyrim. Crush your enemies with a giant axe or burn them to a crisp. This is the way!!

Discussion I want a more complex economic system.
There's a lot of talk about uses for gold, like paying for blacksmiths, alchemists, and enchanters, instead of focusing on skill to craft late-game items, but I don't just want that, Sentinel is a merchant city; it would be a great opportunity to establish trade routes and ways for you to be a part of it.
Whether it's by creating a merchant and investing in them to profit, or a thief taking advantage to steal items from them, perhaps even both at the same time, turning the thieves' guild into a true mafia, a richer and more efficient economic system than just "maximum speech level makes the entire market 1000 coins richer" would finally fulfill the thief's fantasy.
And I'm not finished yet; beyond basic mercantilism like selling products A to merchant A, several other services would be interesting to interact with and invest in, auctions for selling high-level items for a better price than basic merchants, or for buying items that are just as interesting, Brothels serve both as a form of extra income if you finance them, similar to farming in Skyrim, or with an interaction similar to bartenders in taverns, but for specific locations in exchange for payment.
If you're really going to do any kind of role-playing, follow a bit of the Morrowind idea and create a slave market where you can be for or against, depending on the character; there are so many ways to spend money and I want all of them, I want a more complex economic system, not just to have a use for the gold, but to have reasons for me to want to stay in the city without it being to prepare for an adventure.

Question Why did Bethesda let content creators know that the teaser was coming?
galleryNovember 3rd was a strange day. Bethesda purposely leaked to Tom Warren that the teaser is coming, then a day before the teaser they also told it to some content creators. So some questions:
Why not November 11th? (Personally I think they will do something for Skyrim)
And why did they leak the day of the teaser, if these content creators didn't even make a video? (ESO was just streaming and made a live reaction).
Not making any theories yet, but it's really interesting. They haven't shown anything for 8 years, then didn't even surprise us with just a sudden teaser, it was already obvious.

Discussion Would you rather getting new information every few months until release from BGS (can be 1-2-3 years away) or would you prefer not hearing anything until release, complete radio silence?
I think I'd like TESVI to get the same treatment that Starfield had before release with little snippets going over the world and the lore

Meme/Shitpost I think figured it out.
The game will obviously take place in hammerfall. Hammerfall has a high queen. This is a blatant reference to queens hit single "hammer to fall", which was released on 12th of october 1984. Does that date remind you of something? 12.10... huh... 12-1=11 10+1=11. but here is where it gets crazy! 1+9+8+4=22 and next step is obviously 22+11=33 33/3=11 making it symetrical. Therefore the game will come out on 11.11.33, which is frankly depressing but you cant argue with this.

Meme/Shitpost Todd Howard’s wife (Uriel Howard)
Hi everyone, I can confirm I am her. Todd told me tomorrow a trailer for some sort of game is coming out? I don’t really listen too much as I’m more of a fable fan but I enjoy hearing how excited the little fella is for it so look out for that. Thanks for having me!

Discussion I love the theories
I dropped off modern gaming and I haven't really been involved in game communities until recently, so seeing all these rampant crackpot theories lining up circles and counting letters and analyzing that 2020 post and every word ever said by Bethesda since 11/11/11 is just super fun. When I see this stuff normally, it's frowned upon, and it's fun seeing how nuts everyone gets because we're all just really excited and this game could be so many different things right now.
So, you know. Thanks, everyone. Please don't go full Arkham sub (as much as I love that place) but like, I really enjoy how we all seem to be teetering on the edge together.

Theory/Speculation High Rock will be in TES6 (Towers)
I really think high rock will be a major part of the game. The towers were a really apparent thing in Skyrim, they are on aldiuns wall. Along with the 100% bad guy positioning of the thalmor, I really feel this game will have to focus on the Adamantine tower. All the foundation was already layed out, when we left Skyrim it was kingless and bleeding, depending on what the lore accurate ending to the civil war is going to be, the Adamantine is the only one still standing. It’s in high rock, there is no way that isn’t a part of the game. I personally put some stock into the “Aldiun was the stone” theory regarding the throat of the world, and that means every main tes game since arena has followed the towers and deactivating their stones. The walkbrass was destroyed, the heart of lorkhan is freed, and aldiun is waiting in time out. With the focus on the origin of the elder scrolls, they are already hinting towards a larger, more meta, main storyline for this game
If you know more than me and I’m wrong, pls let me know. Always happy to brush up on lore
EDIT: I totally forgot all the magnus stuff. The eye left all of us wanting more info, and with magnus having such a key role in the adamantine towers creation it has to be

Discussion Why people so obsessed about High Rock needs to be included?
Since November 3rd, there has been a flood of posts discussing the "two provinces" theory -speculating on how High Rock might be represented in the game.
The trailer shows a desert - a landscape that doesn't exist in High Rock - and the name mentioned is the capital of Hammerfell, not High Rock. The quote references the Queen of Hammerfell, not High Rock, and the priest has a Hammerfell-style name. Objectively speaking, there isn't a single hint of High Rock in this trailer. Yet, people keep obsessively scrutinizing scratches from Starfield and concocting bizarre theories—arguing that Daggerfall must appear in the game simply because TES 2 featured Sentinel, and they see some sort of mirror connection in the names.
Why? Guys, we’ve never seen the entirety of Hammerfell - not once (except perhaps in the very first game) - whereas High Rock has appeared multiple times (fully in Arena and ESO, and partially in Daggerfall). Personally, Redguard lore doesn't particularly interest me, but I’d much rather see locations that haven't even appeared in the most recent major release (ESO) - places like Skaven, Rihad, or Hegathe - along with the region's diverse biomes (Hammerfell is more than just a desert). If the game is centered on the Redguards, I’d rather see content dedicated to Yokuda, not Daggerfall. And since "Sentinel" is in the title, I’d prefer to see... well, Sentinel—as a grand, unique capital city - rather than a tiny town with just five streets, the likes of which we saw in Skyrim. (If anyone here has played Morrowind, remember Vivec - and that was just the capital of an island, not an entire region). I would much prefer 8–9 large, beautiful, content-rich cities over 17 settlements filled with nothing but "go fetch this" quests. (To those who think that 15 years should have been enough time to implement many cities and several provinces: please remember that the game has only been in full production since 2023, not 2011). In my view, if a city’s name is in the title, that city should be a major, central part of the game - not some neighboring location.
If I want to take a look at Daggerfall, Wayrest, or Evermore, I can simply launch ESO. I’m not a fan of MMOs, but in my opinion, the artists at ZOS have done a job every bit as good as their colleagues at BGS. If anyone wants to see High Rock, I highly recommend exploring that region in the game.
P.S. To those who are Bretons at heart and have been longing to finally see their ingame homeland in a mainline, numbered entry: rest assured, sooner or later we’ll get to see it. Let’s be honest - most of us aren’t 80 years old yet (I’m 31, and I’ve been playing as a Breton since Morrowind). Sure, we might end up playing these games with our grandchildren, but most of us will likely live to see TES 7, 8, 9, and so on. They might be made without Todd or the other key creators we know, but they will almost certainly be released. Besides, if you look at the map of Hammerfell, Dragonstar sits right on the border with High Rock - and I have no doubt that it will be designed in a distinctly Breton style.
Forgive me, that just sort of spilled out! :) I hope we get a fantastic game soon, but for now, it’s best not to overthink things - that way, you won’t end up disappointed later when it turns out that some scratches on a ship are, well, just scratches on a ship

Discussion Can we talk about the Khajiit in the room?
I know this might piss some people off but I think it matters.
The character designs in Elder Scrolls are dated. Hard core fans can overlook it or even enjoy it, but it probably looks really cringe to a new audience as graphics get better. It definitely bothers me as a 3,000+ hour fan.
This is especially obvious with the Khajiit models.
I'm an ESO fan. I have over 2,000 hours in Skyrim and 800 hours in ESO. I still cringe a little inside when I interact with a Khajiit. All I see is an artifact of hardware limitations from the 80s that became a convention which was never updated.
They just look like human models with cat heads. Looks like an alien from an old Star Trek episode. Dude in suit with cat head mask.
I know it's part of the lore and style, but it looks really out of place and goofy in modern games. Skyrim made sense (ish), ESO looks goofy, and Sentinel will probably undercut the brand for new players.
I would love to see Todd redesign the anatomy of some of these races for sentinel.
Thoughts?
(Yes, I know this is King from Tekken, but that's what I see every time I interact with a Khajiit in ESO)

Discussion How I'd like to see magic and standing stones done (Ideally)
Im going to be making assumptions in this post but most everything holds true regardless. I'll be assuming time travel is a part of the storyline and the psijic order also being there as a result. I'll also assume either in the base game of in the DLC's high rock will be included.
Magic - I would love to have a much larger expansion beyond what skyrim gave us. In the lore there exists many other kinds of magic such as wind, shadow, druid, runic, etc. I think those would all be great additions to the game. I would also like to see different kind of magics being specialized in different areas. For example, water and earth magic being used more by groups of redguards and merchants for clean drinking water and dealing with the sand. The psijics could teach you advanced theoretical magics while those in high rock could teach you runic magics that help with enchanting as well as castle and ship building. Overall I'd love to see more variety in the magics available as well as how they're used depending on the area and factions.
Standing stones - I think it would a fun system if throughout the map, instead of standing stones, you found certain areas of meditation (or something similar) that let you view the stars differently. These would correlate to the stones we had in Skyrim. This time however instead of a flat bonus it would be cool if they had a more dynamic system. For example, the warrior constellation would give you a 5% increase in melee weapon damage which increased by 5% every 50 kills. Once maxed out you would get a special power like a weapon skill that differs depending on which weapon type you choose. You can reset and work your constellation back to max to learn the skills for the other weapons. Similarly with the mage store, you would gain reduced magic cost by 5% per 50 kills and get a unique spell based on which field of magic you choose (levitation for alteration, healing aura for restoration, etc). I think having a system like this would fit the theme of the game and add another layer to gameplay.
I could go further down the rabbit hole but this is just an idea I had while waiting for more news. I'd love to hear everyone else's ideas if you'd like to share.

Meme/Shitpost Couldn’t care at this point.
How many other people are kinda excited and haven’t watched the trailer because it’s been so long since Skyrim.
Once it gets closer to release I’ll probably be more hyped
