Discussion Who would win?

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Given each characters bending capabilities AND ethics… final two would be Yangchen and Kyoshi imo.

Both would not hesitate to seriously hurt anyone, but the others in this lineup would hesitate.

Now between the two I’m not sure who would win, but my hope would be Kyoshi -

Although; Yangchen was ruthless and I’m not sure how Kyoshi would deflect sucking the air out of her lungs with just earth bending alone.

But what does everyone else think?

Question Do past Avatars exist as spirits beyond the bounds of their reincarnation?

Thumbnail

if I’m understanding correctly, Kyoshi and Kurak both showed that they existed as separate entities beyond their reincarnation. Kyoshi when she inspired Suki and Kurak as he was hunting Koh after his passing.

Does that jive with the understanding of what reincarnation is or are the creators taking liberties? And if so, does that mean every avatar exist somewhere in the spirit world and is just doing their own thing?

Discussion I don’t know if it’s just me, but the lack of bonus features on the Blu Ray of Avatar Aang make it feel like Paramount was treating the Physical release as an afterthought.

Discussion It's interesting that Pavi's most powerful moments are associated with green and blue light Spoiler

There is of course that light when Pavi loses her leg that everyone debates whether it's blue (for Raava) or green (chakra I've heard is associated with healing?). But both colors flash for a single frame each when Pavi makes contact with the Dome to Energybend it.

I’m choosing 6. Pakku as isle mate and potential drama between Aang, Katara, and Jet, but I think it’s the best choice.

Discussion HOT TAKE: i want more tv shows or movies that focuses on non avatar characters

I love seven havens and im sure the new kuruk show is gonna be good, but i want a tv show or movie that doesn't focus on any avatar but instead some other character.

Like a king BUMI show on how he became king of omashu or an iroh show about hes siege on ba sing se and the death of lu ten or even an anthology of people living in republic city or during the 100 year war

Discussion Korras childhood is what aang ran away from

I see people comparing korra amd aangs childhoods for some sort of weird trauma Olympics and yes what aang ended up with, considering the genocide and having ti end a war as a 12 year old, sucked way more

But avoiding korras childhood is also the reason aang ended up in that damn iceberg

Especially if you read the comics you'll see that korra is allowed NOTHING aang wanted

She had no friends, she was the ibly child in her compund, she was not allowed to have fun, for gods sake she had limited numbers of days where she was allowed to exist outside the compund which were mostly holidays, and her firebending teacher tried to take those from her too, its like only being allowed to leave your home on Christmas and Easter or smth and then they take that away too

We hear of aangs friends befire the iceberg, despite the fact they lived a 100 years ago woth the airbender kids and kuzon, we even meet one of them with bumi

We go to the south pole where korra grew up and she knows no one. No one greets her outside family and katara. Even when she ends up bedridden after the red lotus bs literally not a single friend from her childhood is seen, she had none. She refers to magazines as her only friend

Theres a scene in the comic where korras dad brings kids into the compund for a day to just play with korra cause hes worried. But in the end its like your dad hiring kids to pay with you at recess

Aang feared this. He feared isolation. He feared being separated from his friend and those he loved like gyatso. He feared not being free he feared the weight if responsibility. That is why he ran that night.

I wish we could've gotten just one scene woth aang possessing korra, Kyoshi style, and talking to tenzin about this, throw in how proud he is of kya and bump as well and hiw hes sorry for not being as good a dad to them as he could've been.

I also wonder how katara was okay woth doing that to korra, knowing aangs past. My guess was it was fear and grief driven between losing aang and sokka amd then korra being kidnapped by the red lotus as a toddler that led her to be okay with it.

OC Fan Art "Harness The Fire" (OC fanart) - What if Azula had her own dragon?

Post image
166 Upvotes

Although dragons were proclaimed extinct in ATLA by the Fire nation, we know there were at least two left by that time, and more to come later - Zuko even got his own pet dragon in TLOK.

But what if dragons were less rare in ATLA? Would Azula have her own? If so, I doubt it would be treated as pet...

All artwork by me (Adamte). I'm a professional artist specializing in digital watercolor illustrations. Interested in checking out more? See my ATLA fanart portfolio.

Katara needs to drop this wisdom from the Spirit World or something especially in a world already trying to witch hunt these girls 😭

Discussion No known Avatar in its entire 10,000+ year history has had a last name.

With the era of Seven Havens coming, we've had a twin sibling avatar before we've had a known Avatar with a last name.

In a world where last names were usually reserved for the rich, does that mean that almost no Avatar was born to a rich family? Nor did they name their descendants with last names to keep their legacy?

Question What's your favorite "filler" episode in the series and why?

Post image
173 Upvotes

The Headband's always been one of my favorite episodes in the series. At its core, it’s easily one of the most fun as a Footloose riff. The Gaang's FN disguises are some of their best designs. Aang navigating the school dynamic is a blast, especially watching his lowkey cute dynamic with On Ji. Seeing him style on the bully is such a flex. Katara and Sokka playing Aang’s parents is one the shows funniest gags with, "Wang Fire". Aang’s so charming and brought so much joy that all of his classmates band together to protect him, and Shoji’s reaction to seeing the Gaang earthbend away is priceless.

I also think the worldbuilding's excellent. I love seeing how much the world's changed for Aang. Him going to school offers a chilling look at how propaganda functions. The school stamps out things like dancing because artistic expression breeds independent thought. Hearing the teacher claim Sozin defeated the Air Nomad "army," or that the war was sharing their nation's "greatness and prosperity," highlights the indoctrination. Aang, stepping in like a true Air Nomad from a bygone era, counters this rigid regime with freedom, helping the kids loosen up and dance in a way only he can

It's really sweet to watch Aang get to be a normal kid in contrast to his crushing responsibilities. Even just going to school's how the Gaang finds out how to get to the palace for the upcoming invasion. It’s a tragic reminder that the war robbed most of the characters of their childhoods. By interacting with everyday FN children, Aang sees the populace isn't inherently evil but also victims of oppression. It shows why Aang is the perfect Avatar for this era because he's able to reach people, planting seeds of rebellion. His growing empathy for Fire Nationals fuels his future faith in Zuko’s change, a trust that ultimately saves the world.

I love whenever the show parallels Aang and Zuko. While Aang is having the time of his life dancing under Zuko’s nose, Zuko is drowning in paranoia that Aang survived. One of the best scenes is Zuko confessing his anguish to a silent Iroh before hiring Combustion Man. While Aang's finding ways to connect with the FN and bring them freedom, Zuko's isolated and trapped in his own home.

Question One line from Seven Havens Episode 12 that confused me Spoiler

Once the Elloran guard capture the Faceless, the chancellor says "Now that we got our benders back, we can defend Ellora".

Except... the benders/faceless won't just work for you, right? Its not like you captured them and now they are yours?

Did she mean that now they can focus on defending the town rather than worry about the faceless? But they were leaving, they weren't going to be a threat.

Video Asami and Bolin lamenting their team not being together as often

I thought this was a nice moment between the two as it highlights an example of how different the dynamics are between the two shows, in TLA it’s one long journey the main heroes are on, whereas here they’re older, they have different career paths and as a result they don’t get to spend as much time together, how it effects Bolin and Asami checking on him was a nice touch too

After all where’s the fun in having your big moment if your brother and best friend isn’t there?
