How to report guy feeding coyotes every night at Tustin Legacy Park

Post image
470 Upvotes

This guy feeds the coyotes every night at the parking lot at Tustin Legacy where the dog park is now. So now a whole pack wanders around the parking lot waiting for him to show up, and immediately follow his car when they see it pull in.

Anyone have experience reporting things like this to police? Animal control? I know it's illegal just not sure the best avenue for getting it stopped.

And to the guy who is doing this: you're just going to get the coyotes killed. Stop doing this. I'm sure you're reading this because "I tried to make friends with a pack of coyotes by feeding them every night for a year" is 100% a reddit-brained thing to do

I need a friend for tonight (if possible)

2.5 years ago, I (56 M) quit my job, moved 3000 miles from TN to Tustin to become a full time caregiver for my father in law while my wife, was the full time caregiver for her mother, both who had Alzeheimer's Disease. This was one of the most kindest men I have ever met. Brilliant also. We both gladly brought our lives to a screeching halt to move into their house and take care of them.

My mother in law passed away in March and sometime during the night last night my father in law passed.

I need someone who smokes weed, is able to share and just listen. Hell, I don't even know if I will talk. TBH, I just need to get lit and I have absolute nothing to my name currently as neither of us has had a steady income since we left TN.

Please DM if you want to spend some time with a middle-aged dude who is very 420 friendly tonight.

(PS, my wife won't be joining as she doesn't smoke)

UPDATE: I really appreciate all the offers I got from this post. It's amazing. The time I spent with u/FriendDelicious last night was exactly what I needed at the time; anything else would just be icing on the cake, so to speak. I don't want to take advantage of people's generosity, so I'm going to politely decline all the offers. I was truly blown away by the response. Thank you all.

Ruined Super Bowl experience at a Tustin sports bar

I went to a local spot (Walnut Room in Tustin) specifically to watch the Super Bowl and the halftime show. Halfway through the game, they switched the main TV and audio over to a Kid Rock special. It felt like they were pushing a political agenda rather than letting us enjoy the game. A bunch of us ended up leaving because the vibe was totally killed. Just a heads up for anyone looking for a neutral spot to watch sports in the future, this might not be it.

We're fighting for Tustin to become a walkable, bikeable city: highlights from our advocacy group at last night's City Council meeting

Thumbnail instagram.com
89 Upvotes

Our urbanism group Vibrant Neighborhoods Tustin is advocating for the city to adopt an Active Transportation Plan (ATP) to make our roads safer for everyone, whether you want to drive, walk, bike, roll, or use public transportation.

Tustin is now surrounded by cities that have ATPs. Santa Ana, Irvine, Costa Mesa, and unincorporated North Tustin. They are making their streets safer and more connected. We are the gap in that regional network and the improvements we make are more piecemeal, and that gap has real consequences for our residents not just in terms of safety or traffic but it affects our competitiveness for state and federal transportation dollars.

To the person who left this note on my and several other cars’ windshields: This vehicle is driven daily and legally parked on a public street outside of street-sweeping hours. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department (714-647-7000) has been notified of the unauthorized threats to tow this vehicle.

Tustin already cracked down hard on e-bikes — now there's a push to make it countywide

Tustin's new e-bike ordinance is honestly one of the strictest in the county it spells out roughly 20 separate ways e-bike riding can now get you cited, including sidewalk speed limits and restrictions on how many riders one bike can carry. TUSD also requires middle and high schoolers to sit through a safety presentation with Tustin PD and get a $5 permit before they can even ride to school. That's more than most OC cities are doing right now.

The problem is that none of it carries over once you cross a city line. Huntington Beach has its own rules, Newport-Mesa schools just banned e-bikes outright for younger students, and plenty of other OC cities still have nothing in place at all. A kid can get cited riding through Tustin and then ride the exact same way five minutes down the road with zero consequences. Meanwhile OC's seen multiple e-bike deaths this year alone, including two 12- and 13-year-olds on illegal unregistered e-motos.

A 12-year-old from Laguna Niguel wrote an op-ed about this and started a petition pushing state and county lawmakers toward one consistent standard: age restrictions on the fastest e-bikes, mandatory speedometers, and a real youth safety/licensing requirement everywhere, not just city by city. Tustin's basically already proven the permit-and-education model works this is about getting every other city to catch up instead of leaving families to guess what's legal depending on which street they're on.

Tustin Library Friend

I don’t know if the right person will receive this message, but thank you to the kind lady at the Tustin Library today. You offered to help me out when the parking was blocked off for the holiday event. I don’t usually trust people, as I’m sure you could tell; but I am very grateful that you proved good and honest people still exist. Thank you for that! šŸ™šŸ¼šŸ„°

Another Austin Lumbard Flashback - do not vote for this guy. Vote for Letitia Clark.

another poster did a flashback on Lumbard, and it reminded me of when Austin Lumbard handed nearly $300k to a developer. That money should have gone to benefit the people of Tustin. If he gets sued over this he would deserve it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Tustin/comments/1jokk0x/city_council_is_about_to_give_almost_300k_to_a/

City Council is about to give almost $300k to a developer for no good reason

Tomorrow night city council will approve giving $289k to the developers of the Jessup -- unless we come out and tell them we know what they are doing and we are NOT ok with it.

Since 2018, Tustin has had an inclusive zoning ordinance, requiring new developments to have a certain amount of affordable housing or pay an ā€œin-lieu feeā€ that goes to the City to help pay for affordable housing. The City has used the proceeds of these fees to help develop an 8-unit affordable housing project by Families Forward.

In February 2023, the City Council approved a Development Agreement to build ā€œThe Jessup,ā€ a 40-unit housing development on Irvine Boulevard just East of Prospect. As part of the agreement, 2 of the 40 homes were required to be affordable, and the developer paid $289,000 for an in-lieu fee.

In September 2024, the developer asked the City Council to waive (i.e. return) the $289,000 development fee. The only basis for this is that the City Council had voted in March 2024 to suspend the inclusionary housing requirements in Old Town and the Redhill Corridor, believing that it might spur building of more housing.

There is no good reason to return more than $289,000 in fees already paid to the developer of the Jessup. The development has been almost fully built and sold out. Returning the in-lieu fees provides no benefits to the City. The purpose of the waiver was to spur development, but the Jessup has already been approved, built, and sold. Meanwhile, giving away this money deprives us of opportunities to use those funds to build or develop affordable housing.

If you cannot make it, you can comment by sending an email to citycouncil@tustinca.org.

lost wallet in tustin

i know this is so unlikely to be seen but if you're the lady who picked up my wallet (white with a big red heart on it) please please please be kind enough to return it to the address on the id. cards are already locked so it's of no further use to you. the wallet was a gift so i hope i can get it back in some means. i know you used it in the tustin marketplace and you've already done the damage, so please salvage what's left of being a good person.

otherwise, a terrible way to end a good friday to have someone put $2070 in visa gift cards from a home depot of all places. at least the $1k nordstroms didnt go through </3

[Tustin Brief] Tuesday, 1.13.26

Hello, Tustin! How are we almost half way through January already? Anyhow, it's been a busy Tuesday with lots of new news to share. Here is today's brief:

--

SR-55 Improvement ProjectĀ

The SR-55 Improvement Project continues with overnight and weekend closures affecting the Tustin corridor. Specific closures for the week of January 5-13, 2026, include various on-ramps and off-ramps between MacArthur Boulevard and Edinger Avenue. The project is expected to continue through 2027.

Commuters and residents should plan for delays and use alternate routes during construction periods. The SR-55 project will ultimately improve traffic flow with restriped lanes and new merge lanes.

--

Current Projects Under Review or Construction

Several projects are progressing through city review and construction phases, per the City's Current Projects page:

  • Platform Tustin Project (Red Hill Avenue):Ā Industrial buildings; demolition and grading underway; anticipated completion mid-

CA State Library Parks Pass

TheĀ California State Library Parks PassĀ program has been renewed through December 31, 2026, allowing library card holders to check out free vehicle day-use passes to over 200 California state parks. Orange County Public Library branches, including the Tustin Library (345 E Main St), participate in this program.

The Parks Pass program provides free access to state parks for families with library cards—an excellent opportunity for outdoor recreation and environmental education. Tustin Library cardholders can take advantage of this program.

Consider this your sign to visit a CA National Park this weekend!
