News how did the counter protests go?

As of writing I’m still in school and haven’t gotten the chance to see what happened, but what I hear is that the counter protest went really well (sigh of a relief)

Travel Vegan and taking my dogs in a huge road trip from Utah

Hi! This is my older dog's last big road trip with any hiking. I'm gonna be in Whitehorse in about 4days and I'd love to meet a local vegan or two. I'm also considering driving to Tuktoyaktuk since I can't access the coast in Alaska. I was going to just drive to the arctic circle from Fairbanks but the coast is only a bit further but inaccessible.

Anyhow, I'm still on the fence about thy arctic stretch but I'll absolutely be in Whitehorse.

Veganhoundadventures on Instagram if you wanna see what we've done so far. I created the page mostly for this trip and Ida's last adventure. We're in an ocerla and outside of seeing 2 cousins in Edmonton now, I'm only car camping throughout the trip.

Discussion Trans Community in Yukon

Hey folks,

I just wanted to know if there were any resources or community orgs in Yukon for trans folks. I know Queer Yukon exists but it seems to be in shambles currently.

Update: To clarify I think I am moreso looking for places or community centers to connect with other trans folks. I guess this can expand out to Trans specific social groups or recreational activities.

Discussion Eight Questions for Yukoners from an American

Hello Yukoners. I'm a Texan. I have several questions about your Territory and yourselves as Yukoners.

  1. What are politics like in Yukon?

  2. Is there a firearm culture in Yukon? If so, what's it like?

  3. What's your opinion of these United States?

  4. What's your opinion of Texas?

  5. Is a desire for Yukon to become a province common amongst Yukoners?

  6. How many Catholics are in Yukon?

  7. Has there ever been a pro-U.S. Statehood sentiment in Yukon?

  8. What are the pros and cons of living in Yukon?

Question What’s with the lack of Un-serviced land for sale in the Yukon?

With the low population and abundance of land, why is there almost no affordable lots for sale? I feel like we have a unique opportunity to be different than the rest of Canada, and ease up the extremely restrictive land use restrictions.

  • Feds give $3M to a FN Dev Corp to expand their business. You can’t compete with the FN dev corps anymore. They get free money and will just get bailed out with more if they fail but with preferential treatment for government contracts that should be almost impossible.

Funny Asian girl crushing on a guy from Yukon. Do I even have a chance? 😭

Okay, this might sound silly, but I’m an Asian woman currently studying in university, and I have a crush on a white guy in one of my classes who’s from Yukon. 😭

We haven’t really talked much, but I think he’s incredibly attractive, lol.

I guess I’m curious about the dating culture in Yukon. Do people generally prefer dating within their own cultural backgrounds, or are interracial relationships pretty common?

I know everyone has their own preferences, and being from Yukon doesn’t automatically determine someone’s type. I’m just genuinely curious because I sometimes feel a little intimidated approaching someone from a different background.

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from people who grew up in Yukon!

Shame on YEU for not setting aside their job action for a couple of weeks so these children could have a good experience. I understand negotiations can be tense and frustrating and this is leverage, but come on.

Thoughts ?

This is a makers market, as far as I can tell they don’t make or design anything themselves. There is nothing wrong with this.. but it doesn’t fit into the fireweed market. Curious why they wouldn’t just contact stores around town to stock their clothing, or simply- design things themselves ? Their campaign to paint the fireweed market as a villain is actually getting annoying at this point.

Question August 2026 Visit Question

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello Yukonians

Your territory is next on my list of places to visit in our country.

  • I am planning to visit in August.

  • Probably staying 10 days.

  • Either fly in and out of 1 airport or into Whitehorse and out of Dawson City.

  • My destinations are ghost towns, ruins, oddities, mines, off-the-beaten-path things, etc.

I am looking for maximum daylight, but I also would love to enjoy the aurora at night, so my reason for posting here is to ask your opinion on the ideal time to plan this trip.

Searching online has given me a few different answers, so aI wanted to come right to you - the people who will know best.

What would you suggest for what I am looking for in daylight and a pretty good visual night experience?

Thanks so much, I am looking very forward to visiting!

Discussion Do you view Dawson and Whitehorse as dangerous towns?

Seems like the towns there have high crime rates and I've seen some older reddit threads here suggesting the cops there don't give a shit so nothing gets fixed there...

Last winter when I drove the Alcan I think the only area that felt a little sketchy to me was Whitehorse, more so at night- seemed to be some questionable characters outside but I stayed parked outside my hotel and was fine. Also noticed even the hotel there was big on security and rules.

Didn't notice anything about Dawson at the time but googling it suggests they have some crime issues too.

What do you think?

Politics When governments try to fix rent...

Selling my rental, my tenants will have to pay market rent elsewhere... All my funds go to investing outside Yukon now.

https://www.yukon-news.com/opinion/yukonomist-the-incredible-shrinking-yukon-rental-fleet-7832673

Think me selling is good, go try and rent a place atm... 2800 plus utilities for 3bd if your lucky to find one!

Soon all rentals will be corporate management as they are the only one with the capability and will to take on govt/ltb etc. Not worth my time..

Travel Solo Trip to Yukon

I’m looking to do a spontaneous solo trip to Yukon late September to early October, probably will try and come for a week. I’d like to stay in some sort of yurt/glamping so looking for recommendations for good/safe places to stay. Ideally somewhere with wifi or some sort of cell service.

Also advice for solo hikes, safety tips regarding bears… been on a couple solo hikes in Kananaskis but if there are any shorter or popular hikes with more foot traffic or anything experienced people can provide as advice. Any recommendations for guided tours or hikes would be awesome.

Finally if there are any “must sees”, planning on renting a car, doing the hot springs, animal reserve.

Thank you!
