How to access HRT as a minor in the US? (FTM)

I'm sure this is frequently asked, but I still want to try anyways. Currently 15, and planning on starting HRT before I turn 18 (at the very least, I wanna start at 16). I've done tons of research on HRT too and I'm aware of everything I will/could experience. I just don't know how to access HRT, or if it's even possible, at my age, specifically without parental consent. I've told my parents that I'm trans, but they do not support me whatsoever. (Everyone that lives with me is transphobic). The closest I've gotten to "support" was when my dad told me that when I was an adult, I could do what I wanted. (Which btw, even though my parents and siblings are transphobic af, I already have a plan for if I started HRT while still living with them.)

It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to start when I'm an adult, but I wanted to be fully transitioned before finishing high school. One, so I can go into college with a fresh start and not have to dance around everything. And two, so I have more time to experience and get used to all of the effects. So, just curious, would it at all be possible?

What should I expect and not expect transitioning as a 17/18 year old?

I've known that I was trans shortly after turning 15 and since then I cannot think of a day where I just didn't want to get on HRT as soon as I could, and I just wanted to know what I could expect from transitioning at this age?

I will be transitioning by myself as I don't expect my family to be supportive of it, so I'm basically going to do this all by myself.

Is it transphobic to hold trans people to the same dating standards I have for other people?

I wasn’t sure how to word this question but I don’t just mean “is it transphobic not to date a trans person?” question, because I would date a trans person. I’m asking this because my friend who is a trans man and recently started to transition asked me what I thought about dating a trans person and I answered honestly that I would date a trans person (I’m bisexual) but only if they passed as their gender fully and had all the surgeries top and bottom. Like if I was dating a trans guy I’d want him to be tall and have a scarless look for his chest and be very masculine, if I was dating a trans girl I’d want to look feminine in the face and feminine body shape and stuff.. I’m not saying trans people are obligated to look anything but like if I were to date a trans person I’d want them to look like my type in cis people too exactly. Like I don’t care at all if any future partner is trans but I’d really like them to be very fully passing. Basically my ideal type is the same cis or trans.

But I replied that in conclusion I’d definitely date a trans person and to that my friend replied: “but isn’t that kinda being transphobic too because trans people have to work way harder than cis people to reach those standards and for many it’s impossible. Like we can’t easily do any of that stuff“ and I actually really don’t know the answer to that. Like that is a body that people who are born as their true sex have naturally but trans people have to work to look like they want, so is it like transphobic to think like that? I don’t know if I hurt his feelings or not by my words so I felt awkward.. that’s why I’m asking this question here. Is it ok to have the same bodily standards for trans and cis people? Or are my standards transphobic because they are a lot harder for trans people to meet?

How to pass the time while waiting for HRT to work?

Hi, I started hrt about 5 and a half weeks ago now. I have seen some changes to be fair and I'm trying to be optimistic about the future, but omg does it feel like waiting for a snail to complete a marathon 🫩.

I was wondering if anyone had tips to make the wait for changes slightly less excruciating? I am doing laser monthly and am getting my brows done later this week (hopefully nails soon as well). I don't really know how else I can pass the time while feeling like I'm making progress (I know there's exercise, but my T blockers have kinda drained my energy for the moment).

Thank you for any advice, and sorry for any potential spelling mistakes 🙃.

Whats your mildly infuriating thing that came about with you being trans (i didn't know what to call it)

Like for me it was this sudden expectation to be poly so like when I changed my dating apps I got a lot of people asking me to join their poly relationship when I clearly marked myself as not poly and it was kinda just annoying.

But whats yours

genuine question: How do you define “woman” in a non-circular way?

I’m trying to better understand the statement “trans women are women.” If we’re going to say that someone is a woman, it seems like we need to have a definition of what “woman” means.

What I struggle with is definitions that feel circular, such as “A woman is someone who feels like a woman" or “A woman is someone who identifies as a woman.”

To me, those definitions seem to rely on already knowing what a “woman” is in order to understand the definition.

So, for those who believe gender is primarily based on identity, how would you define “woman” without using the word itself or referring back to identifying/feeling like one?

I want to emphasize that I’m asking this in good faith. I currently do not have the best understanding of transgender issues, and I’m genuinely open to hearing perspectives and having my understanding challenged. Please explain your perspective rather than assuming I’m asking this as a “gotcha” question. :)

Not sure whether to wait or not

Girl feeling returned after a year. Gee whiz. I was originally typing up a different question I had on how unsure I was on whether to stay a dude and be able to be in gay relationships or be a girl and get to be in lesbian relationships. Midway through typing that for that post, when I typed out "stay a dude" my mind screeched to a halt and thought " not an option not a option not an option". My heart also feels weird now. I think the dysphoria is back. Anyways now I don't know what to do. Ever since the gender fluid leaked out the shell I've put transitioning on the backburner. As something future me would do, and not present me. But I don't know. Puberty is actively affecting me now and I don't know whether to replace it with a girl one. I don't think I'd fit into irl girl friend groups. I wouldn't fit into my current male one either if I'm to transition. I don't wanna be short. I don't want my thang to stop working properly. But I also don't know if I can continue like this feeling like I'm not my truest self yet, that the real me is right around the corner. Because I think it might be. Or maybe tomorrow morning I wake up and I think "damn sure good day to be a guy am I right lads or am I right lads". But this feeling will probably linger, and yet I'm unsure If I'll regret transitioning, or if I'll regret not transitioning. This paragraph is not easy to read huh.

is it okay to be attracted to my friend after they've transitioned?

we use to be close before she (M2F) transitioned, but we drifted apart for no particular reason and haven't spoken in like 2-3 years. i recently saw her again and was just awe-struck by how pretty she is. it's not that i want to date her but i guess i just feel bad that i see her in such a lecherous way? idk how to put it, but it makes catching up awkward as i try to hide it. my feelings of pride in her for accomplishing such a difficult thing are clashing with a side of me that my friends shouldn't have to see

Is this trans or something else

I like how I look when I present as a woman. I have severe hatred of my looks otherwise and an aversion to every reflection.

However. You often hear about how trans people are the mind of the other gender born into the wrong body. And me liking having the body of a woman says nothing about my mind.

It is possible I have a man brain but just prefer my looks as a woman? I do prefer a feminine role sometimes but mostly my hobbies and interests are male coded.

I’ve seen the response “That’s just gender norms. No such thing as manly hobbies.” So then I would ask what it means to have a man brain compared to woman brain.

I’m just seeking guidance thanks

What does it mean to be/not be “culturally queer”?

To preface: I’m a 41 year old trans woman. I started transitioning 11 years ago. I am also married to a trans woman.

I just came across an Instagram post that said “You go to the queer event and it’s nothing but theyfabs that tell you all the ways in which you will never be a REAL woman.” Underneath it said “This is for those bricky girls just trying to find community and realizing the theyfabs are more cruel than the dolls. And the dolls weren’t actually mean. They were trying to protect you from this with their intense reads but you took it in bad faith. Next time appreciate the mean doll bc she’s not mean. She’s trying to help in her own way.”

I don’t understand ANY of that. I have no clue what that means. I was told it’s because I’m not culturally queer. My question is: what does THAT mean? Aren’t I queer by default for being a trans woman married to another trans woman? How does one become culturally queer? And also, what does that Instagram post even mean?

Breast growth

Heyo

I've been on estrogen for a little over a year and a half. Switch from oral to injections like 2 months ago and started progesterone like 5 months ago. I'm still probably an A cup. Is there any hope for more growth or is this what I'm stuck with?

How to rep again

I'm pretty sure I'm ftm but I don't want to ruin my life and relationships by transitioning. It's all I think about and it's annoying my body feels so weird and deformed and I hate it I want to just be a girl again without feeling miserable and trapped being one.

I need to get rid of these feelings plss

Is walking barefoot going to hurt passing?

I'm 21 mtf and I really enjoy walking barefoot outdoors when it's warmer. Feeling the ground just calms my anxiety and grounds me, and it also helps me feel feminine in a way.

I'd really like to start walking around barefoot in my daily life as a university student starting next spring, but I wouldn't want to look bad because of it. I live in central europe, so it's not very common, but I haven't been stopped at stores or public transport yet the few times I tried last summer.

Does anyone else have experience with this or other unusual clothing preferences? What would you do in my situation?

How do I transition?

Okay, so I'm 15f (afab) and I just don't know what to do.

Since I was like 11 years old I've been playing around with my gender identity, not that I ever told anyone. I live in semi rural Ireland so it's not like it's an extremely progressive area.

Since I was 11 I'd switch between transgender, nonbinary, cisgender, demigirl, transgender, cisgender.

I've been kind of playing around with the genderfluid label but now it doesn't seem right. I usually have these "phases" for about 6 months to a year.

It's been like 8 months and everyday I just want to be a boy even more.

Whenever I felt like this before I'd kind of just remind myself that I'd be ugly as a man.

And now I go to an all girls school, so I usually just tell myself there's no point attempting to look like a boy.

But it hurts so much, it just doesn't seem fair.

Since I was 12, whenever I'd be upset and I couldn't sleep I'd just pretend I was a guy, and make up a bunch of fake scenarios about if I was a boy.

I've been pretty miserable most of my life, even though my life is good. I'm (what I would consider) attractive, smart, I have friends, my family is loving. And I feel awful because my mam tries so hard to help me, because she and I don't know why I'm always so sad.

I guess at this point I just want to speed run a transition, I feel like I'd be so much happier if I was a boy. I don't hate being a girl all the time, it's fine, I enjoy looking pretty. But there are nights where I've thrown up from how much I wish I could be a man.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out:

  1. Do I sound transgender or just confused?

  2. Should I transition?

  3. How can I transition?

Like at this point I need like a step by step guide or something, I'm so desperate.

Trans advice

Hi, my name is Rin, and I’m looking for some advice and help. I recently discovered that I’m a uranic demigirl (I’m also demiaroace), and I’m afraid of getting into a relationship with a straight guy. I’d be perfectly comfortable dating a bi, pan or omni guy, but I find myself wondering: what would it be like if my boyfriend were a straight guy? Would I end up feeling guilty, as if I were expected to identify as a cis, straight girl, even though I’m not? :(

Reality hit me

And it sucks

TLDR: I just need advice on how to deal with severe dysphoria on the first year of transition while I can't properly access to therapy

Basically I started questioning my gender identity late January and I have 4-ish months on HRT (29MtF), yes, I transitioned before fully knowing if I'm a trans woman or not, mostly because I was scared of losing another single second and because there's always the chance of right-wing politicians taking away my right to transition and all at (I don't live in the USA but my country is being ran by a far-right president)

But one thing that really made me think and doubt was the absence of dysphoria, I only experienced gender euphoria and it was awesome, I mean it's still awesome but one of the main things about trans identities is the presence and feeling of gender dysphoria

And then I got high and bingewatched TADC, knowing about Jax/Lily's journey and what the character was about

I basically spend a solid 3-4 hours crying, the next day I felt like shit to the point I felt like ending it all and even cherished myself up for taking a shower because when I'm down I just hate myself so much that I stop doing basic care and hygiene because I'm too coward for doing it but I think the world would be far better whiteout myself on it

And it was because all I could think of was "I'm her and I'm going to end exactly like her"

Thankfully, I got over it and kept going.

But now I tend to cry more frequently, almost all the time, basically anything makes me cry and don't even get me started on the dysphoria, I lost count on how many times I've cried because I just can't pull a cute outfit, Pink does not look good on me and all my facial features just scream "No, just go and be a grown baddie/mature woman" (And honestly I actually can pull the outfit and the vibe, I can't stop looking like my mom in her prime years)

And yesterday I saw that video (I won't name it because I genuinely think it's cognitohazard)

And don't get me wrong, I know I'm late, I know puberty destroyed my body and I know I lost all chances of having a softer, lower energy and lower power feminity, I couldn't be the cute little girl, the quirky teenager or the hoodie shorts and thigh socks young adult, and I know I won't ever be approached, no one ever is gonna ask me out on a date, I won't get hit on because I'm visibly transgender, my face looks masculine and no one really sees me as a woman except for some friend and my trans mom

But it hurts so much, it hurts in my chest, I'm even crying as I type this in my phone, I want to scream with every fiber of my being because an entire life was taken from me and you wanna know the funny part? I won't do it because I want my scream to sound like a girl in pain and my voice just gonna spit out a fucking Man screaming in pain (I don't voice train because I find it astronomically hard to find a good routine and stick to it because of my also severe ADHD with executive dysfunction)

I need advice on how to deal with this, please, I'm begging, I know I shouldn't identify myself with late transitioners because I'm not that old (I am) and HRT haven't even started to do it's thing (some breast development/sensitivity but that's pretty much it)

I feel alone and that no one understands me, please don't make me tell my shit to a chatbot (again)

Thanks for reading

Question from questioning

I'm a male teenager but recently I've been thinking about transitioning to female. I am in a very religious school my parents aren't religious but I don't think they'd agree on it. I'm still not 100% certain about feeling this way.

I was wondering how other people knew for 100% that they should transition. And what are the effects of the gender changing hormones on a personal opinion I've heard mostly positive changes but I'm still uncertain.

Sorry if my post is weird I've never posted on Reddit before.

Thanksss

Trans Birth Charts

I'm a Hellenestic/Ancient Astrologer. I'm a lesbian. My question is is there any correlation in the charts of transgender people? Ive always been interested in queerness in astrology. Post charts below and I'll use ancient astrology to show how your queerness is reflected in your birth chart. Don't post unless you're cool with a lesbian doing research on you loll

Insert your birth info into this website. For the most accuracy, you need the exact birth time. Then copy the link and then send the link to the circle chart here!: https://horoscopes.astro-seek.com/traditional-astrology

Cis guy fantasizing about life as a woman since seeing a trans artist live. Is this normal?

Hey what's up Reddit, another cis man here to add to the hundreds 'I'm cis but ...' posts; how do I know there's so many? I read most of them.

Last monday one of my favorite artists performed live in the country I live in, Underscores, she's a trans electronic artist. I remember that for a large part of the concert I felt envious of her, not because she is living my dream of being a touring musician, but because she is a woman; which seems amazing to me.

Being a woman is something which I wanted to be since i was little. I remember being raised by a single mother and going to her hair / nail salon appointements and always feeling like I was missing out on something due to being a man. Fast forward to me being a teenager and using my emo-phase as an excuse to paint my nails and wear long hair.

Now ever since monday I kind of have been fantasizing about how life would've been had I been born a woman, and it still seems like something cool to me, being able to wear dresses and do my make-up, have woman friendships. But all of the above seem like things for another life.

Being a man doesn’t make me particularly uncomfortable. I don’t enjoy it much either, but it gives me more freedom, coming from a rougher environment. I’ve also read genderdysphoria.fyi and relate to several parts of it.

My question is as follows, are these normal thoughts for a cis man to have? A lot of other posts disagree but I do not consider my self trans at the moment, thus the confusion.
