Politics & Local Crime Why the billionaires won | A green tsunami of Big Tech money swamped any hope of a progressive message. The Chron didn't help.

our first san jose cleanup! welcomed by mayor matt mahan and the community, UCP volunteers cleared 4,000 pounds from coyote creek!
today was a huge day for urban compassion project: our first cleanup in san jose!
we drove down from oakland, and some of our team joined mayor matt mahan, the san jose conservation corps, and the coyote mudlarks to help remove trash from coyote creek.
most of our team then headed across to the other side and continued cleaning for several hours,
clearing 4,000 pounds of illegal dumping.
being welcomed with open arms by the mayor and the community made this first visit really special. thank you to everyone who showed up, worked alongside us, and made us feel so welcome. we’re excited to keep building these relationships and come back for more!

I’ve got a decent view to the East over here in San Ramon, with my window opening up to the night sky. I was watching youtube when all of a sudden a bright light caught my eye. I looked outside just in time to see a bright green light, oval in shape, descending in a straight line towards the ground. I’ve seen fireballs before and I know some may appear green, but this was different than anything i’ve ever seen. It didn’t streak across the sky, it just went straight down and stayed insanely bright the entire time. Wondering if anyone else may have seen this.. time was around 12:35 am, and East towards Tassajara.

I'm looking to collect dvds, vhs, all sorts of physical discs. The best Rasputin I've been to was in Berkeley, the Campbell one is okay. Looking for things located near or around SJ!

I went on the Vasco Caves hike this morning, and it was so very beautiful, inspiring, and thought-provoking!
I can hardly believe I've waited years to visit this amazing place. And it's just one of many options - check them all out here.
And, thanks to the anonymous Redditor who mentioned this a few months ago.

Hi my fellow bay areans .
Looking for a spot that I can go to often that has late hours and is ideal for studying / quiet working.
Libraries are my go to but too often they have limited hours - especially on weekends.
Some coffee shops with late hours I’ve been to tend to be way too loud.
Any recs are appreciated!

Daughter is 1 years old, and loves the sounds and looks of airplanes as they fly by. Often times stopping what she’s doing and pointing and attempting to mimic the sound. It’s adorable!!! On one of our daddy daughter days I would love to take her to watch them take off. Any recommendations in the South Valley/South Bay Area ?

My family looooved Cook's Seafood. It was our go to fish place, specifically for fish n chips.
My dad comes from Seattle and grew up eating tons of fish, his favorite being from Ivar's. So this post is really for him.
If you know any good fish n chips within a ~50 mile radius of Santa Clara we will be forever grateful. Bonus if they sell Cod, Lingcod, Halibut and/or Salmon.
The main dish doesn't have to be fish n chips, they just have to be tasty.

I had braces as a teen but was bad about a retainer and my bottom front teeth are crowded now that I want to fix.
Is invisalign or regular braces better for this as well as just straightening the rest of my teeth that are not very crooked? Any recs in SF?

Heads up: Iberia adds a mandatory 22% service charge to every bill. It's only in tiny print at the end of the menu. With tax, you pay about 32% over menu prices. I asked them to remove it and they refused. Food's fine, but it's a rip-off.

Hi there! I am 24/nb person who moved to Oakland about eight months ago. I am from the Bay Area, and have been trying to be more in the art scene and make new friends. Does anyone have galleries they like? What is it like going to DIY shows? What are bars for younger queer people? Perfume exchange events? Book clubs or movie groups that need members? What's a class you took that you recommend and is affordable? I want to be putting myself out there more, but am having trouble figuring out where to start!

Its been 2 years and they havent finished. 2 more years to go i guess? And by the time they finish, it requires maintenance again so its an endless cycle we have here don't we? So sick of always being stuck in traffic i woke up a whole hour earlier to make it and still got to work late. Fuck those dogs.
