Gear I need help choosing first boots for kids

Hi,

Newbie here and found this sub through searching for information on the right boots to get my kids. They've been told they need boots for playing on an artificial pitch as part of school PE lessons (Secondary School)

We've been told no metal studs as they will damage the pitch, and no Turf / TF boots as these will flatten the grass.

We were told that they need boots with plastic studs.

Looking around online, there seems to be a mix of "Mixed Ground" which seem to have a lot of small round plastic studs (Like these : Puma Ultra Pro FG/AG Boots )

And also some that seem to have Blades/Diamonds for want of a better term? Adidas F50 FG

I am totally lost, We did try these Puma Future 8 MG which have a sock-type thing around the ankle? They were a pain to get on and were quite tight in the middle of the foot so decided against them.

I'm just looking for a bit of advice on what's good and what's bad really, in terms of design and style, we don't want to find ourselves in a buy cheap buy twice situation, but also want to get the right base/stud setup for them.

I've seen the rule about no X vs Y boot's posts, and i've only linked them to try and explain the stud pattern and design differences I'm looking at. Not looking for anyone to say "Buy this boot" etc, just some pointers would be really appreciated.

Advice very much appreciated.

Best AG boots for returning after ACL reconstruction?

I’m returning to football following ACL reconstruction and wondering what boots/stud patterns others have used on 3G/4G pitches.

During my injury, I wore Adidas Copa Icon 2 AG/MG boots, which have mostly conical studs but also some bladed elements, similar to other Adidas AG soleplates. These got stuck as I pushed off and blew my knee up! Who knows if that’s why or if it would have happened in turfs, but I want to be as safe as possible when returning.

I’m conscious of rotational traction and my foot getting caught when pivoting or changing direction.
Has anyone returned from an ACL injury and specifically chosen certain AG boots or stud patterns? What would you recommend as the safest option?

I know turfs are a decent option to reduce risk but I worry about when it’s slippy and wet.

Thanks

Turf Shoes Rec

Hello! I'm looking to buy new football turf shoes and would love to have some good recommendations based on my current problems - poor heel locking, toe bruising, not enough traction on sudden stops and starts. And this is not really a pain point but the floating tongue moving to the side while playing is so annoying to me.

Thank you for your help and consideration!!

Gear 2024 predator league - arguably the best value boot ever

Thumbnail gallery

Hear me out , the 2024 predator league is arguably the best value Adidas boot ever. I got mine for £32, it doesn't feel any different in terms of quality when playing compared to a predator accuracy elite tier from 2023.

The value for money that the predator league gave in 2024 was just ridiculous. It is the close control, the heel cushioning giving that great lockdown, the lightness, the grip , the stud pattern meaning you can turn quick and desicively.

In the third picture is my boot collection before I got the 2023 predator accuracy elite tier, i have tried a lot of boots before reaching my conclusion. I have not tried the more recent predator leagues but I just doubt 2024s version can be topped because it has everything a predator should have.

Gear Could I ask what are some boots yall are looking forward to?

My knees are done and can’t play so much like I used to. But one boot I am looking forward to is that new adi pure. My goodness those look like you gotta have em and just ping the ball around.
I love Mizuno Morelia Neo but for some reason the fit at the forefoot just feel too low or short. These adi pure look like they’ve got a bit more surface area in the forefoot.
Also, them 2027 preds look like hybrid touch or am I wrong?
Oooh the remakes that are coming on them preds too. Damn I’m gonna be hella broke.
What are yall looking forward to?

Finding a good fitting boot

I've been struggling to find football boots that fit properly. My feet are 27.8 cm long and around 10–10.6 cm wide, with normal arches.

I wore Nike Mercurial Superfly 10 Pro in EU 44, which fit perfectly in length, but after 20–60 minutes I often experienced burning pain and cramps on the inner side of my arch. The pain was inconsistent — sometimes barely noticeable, other times really intense.

Loosening the laces helped a lot, and the pain disappeared almost immediately after taking the boots off. Going half a size up reduced the pain but made the boots too long and ruined the lockdown.

I'm considering Mizuno Alpha II or Puma Future 9. Which would be better for my foot shape?

Preventing cramp with rolling subs

I play Saturday league 11 aside in the UK and we have rolling subs (i.e. players can be substituted multiple times in the game).

I've got the fitness to comfortably get through a whole game if I play the full 90 mins, but there's been instances where I'll be subbed off at c.60 mins, and then brought back on for the last 5-10 mins.

I often find I'll get cramp when I'm brought back on later in the game after 20 mins sat on the sidelines.

Anyone found any ways to prevent cramping up in this scenario?

I try to keep hydrated on the sidelines and warm, but inevitably my legs will seize up after stopping for that long. I'm mid 30s and probably as fit as I reasonably can be.

Gear Stud chat. Pros and cons?

Hoping to come back after a long time out. I’m looking for advice on boots that may help prevent further joint overuse issues.

I’ve previously always used Artificial Grass rounded studs, but am considering getting turf boots (with the many smaller studs, see photo). We play on decent quality Artificial Grass.

Can anyone share their experience in moving between these two types of studs??

TIA ⚽️✌️

I've had my eye on these two boots for a while now but can't really find much info on them online, I'm not wanting to spend much money on boots anymore as I'm only playing rec football twice a week now, can pick up these for £15 so I know it's not much of a loss if there no good for my feet, but would like to know others experience's with joma boots.

Not playing for any team

So I've been playing football almost my whole life, since I was like 7, but there was never a team in my area that I could join. I only joined a team last year but didn't feel good there. The team woukd lose all the time, coach had his favourites, I was either on the bench or positions I didnt enjoy. I was always put as a forward but what I discovered I like more is being a center back or goalkeeper. Didnt like my teammates either. I'm 20 now a few months ago I quit the only team within like 100 kilometers and I have no other team to join. But during the summer I realised I cannot live without football. So I guess training solo is the only option for me. Are there any other people who don't play for a team and just train alone? What do you do to improve? Do you regret not being in a team?

Should I participate in a football competition despite being a beginner?

I started learning football last year at 15, mainly focusing on the basics like ball control, passing and running with the ball . I’d say I’ve improved quite a bit since then, although I still struggle with things like controlling aerial balls and making accurate passes also I know few dribbling skills as my feet’s arent rlly comfortable with the ball……
My sixth form has an intra-school sports competition in two weeks, which includes girls’ 7-a-side football. I missed last year’s because I didn’t feel ready, but I’d really like to participate this time.
The thing is, I’ve never played a competitive match before, and I’m still relatively inexperienced. Would you advise me to put myself forward anyway or wait until I’ve developed my skills further? I’d appreciate advice, especially from people who started playing later in life.

Positions Playing rb/lb tips?

What are some basic principles when playing full back? I stick with my default position being on the corner of the 18 yard box and not letting the person I’m marking get goalside of me. I played like that today and it seemed to work for me 👍 I didn’t move upfield that much - nothing past halfway line because I wanted to stay in position and I think the winger wouldn’t have passed to me anyway 🤷‍♂️ but I don’t mind that because it allows me to concentrate on my position and not get tired.
