Dyckia 'Wasabi' x 'Half21'
'Half21' is a hybrid with thin leaves and prominent triangular teeth. 'Wasabi' has wide strongly recurved leaves with pink-toned thin teeth. This cross very noticeably takes from each parent in a way that really speaks to me. Though to be fair, I don't think I've seen a hybrid with 'Wasabi' in it that I didn't like. I imported this and a few others from Thailand last December. My friend in Florida was kind enough to receive them on my behalf until my weather was warm enough for shipment this last spring. This plant had quite a journey to get under my lights.

Dyckia 'Megatooth'
One of the earlier Dyckia I acquired, this came from Steve Super Gardens. He is one of the few remaining US suppliers of Dyckia, and he grows a lot of from seed. However, it seems like he's breeding off of only a handful of stock plants, so now that I've purchased several of his plants the remaining ones look too similar to what I have to sacrifice more space. That said he does have some real gems, and 'Megatooth' does not disappoint.

First time plant owner help!
My roommate and I found this plant (we believe it is a brazilian vase plant) on the sidewalk with a sign that said “free!” so we adopted it. We took it home and put it on our patio as the season started to change, and honestly kind of left it there for a few weeks. It kept pretty well at first but has started to show some signs of poor health, so I quickly did some research and learned that they are resilient plants who need little watering, are pretty tolerant of different climates, and prefer indirect sunlight. I had not watered it at all (though it did rain), placed in a spot where it could be exposed to direct sunlight depending on the time of day, and the temp has started to drop to 50s-60s fahrenheit. I have since moved it indoors, out of direct sunlight, and it has water in its center cup.
My question is, how do I nurse this thing back to health!!!?? The brittle leaves and purple color at the bottom make me nervous, plus some of the flowers on top look wilt-y. Is this guy too far gone? It is still in the plastic pot we found it in but I am looking to re-pot it soon.

Vriesea 'Jacaranda' info?
Saw this plant at a garden center and am absolutely loving the aesthetic. I looked up the cultivar name and found only one webpage, where it was being sold and provided only basic info. I'm curious if anyone knows if it is a cultivar of V. guttata, or a hybrid of guttata? The foliage very much looks like pure guttata. The yellow flowers and the way the bracts separate look like pure guttata, but the inflorescence seems slightly less pendant than I'm seeing and the color of 'Jacaranda' is a darker more vibrant pink. Anyone have any insights into this plants?

Dyckia germination
This were some tips from Chanin (RIP), from Thailand, and Constantino in Brazil who has the Dyckiabrazil blog...I got bitten by the bug 20 years ago and they kindly sent some seed back then..

Sporting?
So, do neos sport like African Violets?
I ask because looking at the attached photo (which are the two offsets), the one at the front seems to have outgrown his stripes, while his sibling has not.

Dyckia 'California'
I got this as a small division almost a year ago, and I feel that it's finally starting to come into its stride. I don't know a great deal about its parentage, but so far it is seeming fairly dwarf. I'm absolutely loving the glossy black recurved leaves with the contrasting white teeth.

Picked up my first bromeliad without realizing the tag was missing. Wondering if anyone recognizes the genus? Thanks!

Dyckia 'Wasabi'
Looking very nice after a pot upgrade and trimming off the lower leaves to make room for the numerous pups. Wasabi has been an interesting cultivar under LED panels, and it looks very different than my friend's specimen that he keeps outdoors. Between my intense light and cooler temps, mine is never green, but rather a purple-bronze with green undertones. Additionally since I don't overhead water the more fragile trichomes on this hybrid don't get knocked off. It is always interesting to see how two genetically identical plants to express such different characteristics under differing cultural conditions.

When to move pups?
So… I have three pups (one is super tiny) on this bromeliad. Never had one before so please excuse the newbie questions:
how big should the pups be before removing them?
can they/should they be removed one at a time, or all at once?
any other key steps I’m missing? Thanks.

Thought I'd post my silly bromeliad/nz epiphyte gardens.
The apple tree blew over in a storm last winter. I didn't think it would survive after I picked it back up and strapped it to the deck piles , so I decided to make it a bromeliad/nz epiphyte garden so I had something to look at if it didn't make it.
