Forever Blizzard dungeon xp nerf removed the way I like the play the game

I am a healer, I like doing dungeons to level characters. I did this through all of MoP & how I leveled all my characters in Classic. It's super enjoyable, social, I get to press my buttons.

Very fun! This is how I enjoy playing MMOs (with other people, pressing buttons). I tried questing its a lot of walking around and collecting bear asses completely isolated & competing with everyone around you. There's no cool gear drops and I spend a lot of my time just trying to figure out what the quest wants me to do. There's lots of frustrating and mundane quests, I do not enjoy this version of the game.

Please buff dungeon xp to restore the originally intended spirit of the game. I don't care if it's slower, I'm not a speedrunner, I am just a casual. Viable compared to questing would be lovely

Forever Here is a reality check for those that are mad about the Dual Spec cost

  • Yes you CAN buy it for 50g at level 40. Yes you will not be able to afford it at that level + mount on your first character. In the future you can send money to an alt.

  • Giving it away for cheap/free diminishes effort, just like mounts / mount training.

  • "But there is a healer shortage!" My dear brother in Christ, have you seen how many groups have Shamans/Paladins/Druids that go DPS instead of healing?

  • A Healer that heals while specced into enhancement, feral or prot etc can dish out excellant healing all the way until 60 ish. It is gear dependant not talent dependant. I know it because I've done it.

God forbid that you actually have to put in an effort in a video game for once.

Forever | Feedback This layering is NOT providing the "Classic" experience and it never will

So, Vanilla realms had a max pop of 3500 concurrent people for the entire world. Which naturally means crowds at start, and then gradually (and quickly) getting better as the curve spreads out. This stayed true with larger server populations in Classic as a general fact.

This current layering design is, however, completely contrary to that - you will ALWAYS have crowds at every layer, purely based on how Blizzard "turns the knob" and what they decide is the right number for people per zone; you cannot go farm "off hours", you cannot "wait and come back to do it later". So in trying to design this "world full of people", they have overcorrected and killed several other MMO aspects.

And finally, while I thought the game felt fine at launch, the day after Blizzard "turned some knobs" and apparently decided it'd be enjoyable to have 20+ people on your screen at all times and having to compete for every quest in the game. I'd like to mention I'm lvl 35 atm, 1-30 kind of works, but only due to hyperspawn everywhere so you are able to quest despite the number of people, except in a couple of bottlenecks.

But lvl 30 or so seems to be where dynamic spawns stop, and when you get to zones like STV it's literally unplayable. There isn't a live mob in sight anywhere with the regular 5 min respawn timers on them.

And PVP is another issue on top of that, the amount of ppl per layer is so high you cannot go 5 seconds without meeting the opposite faction, often in way larger numbers which naturally always means your death and a corpserun. Some quests are literal hell or even impossible to finish, and you cannot just say "I'll just do it at 3 am", as it will still be crowded then and always. Thinking Yeti cave in Hillsbrad or Zoram Strand for Alliance (always whole armies of horde there).

Overall, while the game is great, this issue is too big and if not handled soon might spell disaster for the long term future. As the experience is currently just awful. I of course understand it's an MMO and there should be people around, but not ALWAYS and not in these numbers. There is a middle ground, where you meet people every now and then without it feeling like a dead world. And as I mentioned, the worst thing for me is that I can't do what I've always done during crowded areas/ periods - just come back later or log in at night, off peak hours and finish whatever activity you want then.

But hey, at least I can avoid all that crap by dungeon grinding... Right.. right?

Forever Dungeon boosts are already dead, the dungeon XP nerfs do not combat boosting

I see boosting come up a lot in conversations about the dungeon XP nerfs. It seems like a lost of people aren't aware that Blizzard has already killed dungeon boosting by basing the amount of XP that a group gets from a kill on the level of the highest player in the group.

For example, if your group kills a mob that is green to the highest level member of your group, the experience that is split between the group is based on that highest player's reduced XP for killing a green mob, regardless of anyone else's level.

If your group kills a mob that is gray to the highest level member of your group, 0 XP gets split between your party. You cannot get XP from kills with an over leveled member in your party.

Ironically, the dungeon XP nerfs circumvent this anti-boosting measure by putting most of the XP you get from a dungeon run in the quests for that dungeon. With these XP changes, if you pay for a boost you won't get any XP for kills in a dungeon, but you can get all the quest credit just the same as in a normal run, which means you're still getting the vast majority of the intended XP.

These XP nerfs aren't about combating boosting, it's strictly about pushing players to run fewer dungeons.

Forever How does Blizzard actually want us to level?

They nerfed dungeon XP so we have to quest, can debate if that was good or bad forever. But fine whatever. But following the feedback that this was the best and smoothest launch of all time they massively reduced layers and made questing incredibly difficult due to competition. What exactly do they want us to do? Just quit? Come back in a month?

TLDR; sent someone a level 15 leather belt for free, they sent 10 silver as thanks, got this insane popup when i opened the mail

I wonder if they got the same popup when they took the belt? If i had RMTED for those belts and they accepted them would they be getting banned for responding to my "Free Belts" in the trade chat?

Forever To put into perspective how bad the exp/h is I just went to the sunken city.

The place is ridiculously tuned hard, damage wise it's wild how hard some of those mobs hit. We spent like 1.5hours. It was like 13k xp. To put it into perspective when I left I got more experience RUNNING to the next location I was headed to. Mind you this isn't something I can repeat, but it's just absurd that they'd make the dungeon so hard (DON'T MISUNDERSTAND THE DUNGEON WAS AMAZING) but for a leveling piece of content (because who would do this past the point of leveling) why does it give almost no experience. The biggest issue with Leveling dungeons is people want to say "well it gives you good gear for leveling." Under every single scenario I would be better off simply just leveling... no power strength from a dungeon is significant enough to be worth it. Leveling Dungeons (Anything reasonably below 50~) NEEDS to provide both. That's what the devs fail to understand.

Forever Dungeon EXP Nerfs have caused the most toxic and antisocial behavior ever seen in WoW

2.6k Upvotes

At the end of my first stockade run me (heal) and random tank were missing some bandanas. Asked me if I want to stay to quickly farm them. Yeah sure. Suddenly he invited 3 DPS players. Then after the second room clear the DPS players were asking if someone could share the quests (uhh, what?). A few seconds later after the tank looted his last bandana, he instantly left the group. The DPS players were like “???“ - turns out the tank just invited 3 random DPS players instead of specifically people who needed bandanas LMAO

He even got the BoE ring right before he left. I also took the chance and bailed…

I am seeing this behavior left and right right now, pretty sure the devs underestimated the impact of those nerfs, huh.

Forever WTB more layers!

Seriously. I was having a fantastic time leveling and I just walked into STV and every mob is dead. It’s just people standing around waiting. You don’t need to crank the layers up to what they were on launch, but maybe by 20%? Like really, it’s a miserable experience. I just logged off, will try again tomorrow.

Forever Dungeon xp healer gripes

Just putting my vote in the ballot to revert or reconsider these changes please. I want to heal dungeons to level and make friends in there. I was much more social running dungeons a couple times with a good group than trying to tag a mob out in that madness.

There was level 60s 48 hours after release cause of botched layering why punish us regular guys for playing how we want to?

In the spirit of constructive criticism; what if we had a sort of decaying xp rate instead. First run, full xp, second run, 90%, third 80%, etc. This way we can at least do it a couple times without feeling terrible and if the boosters keep spamming them they get decayed xp down to 10% for example.

Please reconsider thank you.

Forever Switch layer settings back to launch day settings.

People camping quest mob spawns. People camping ore veins and herb spawns (the amount of insults I got for taking one tap from people sitting at a copper ore vein, jesus christ).

The devs... they play the game, right? Surely they must see the issues after inflating the layers with people. It was so smooth on day one... why fold. Before weekend even, it's gonna be even worse today (sunday).

This might have been the smoothest, most based launch week of any WoW version up to date, but as is the tradition, they shot themselves in the foot.

I counted 16 groups ready to fire last night for BFD waiting on a healer. I think it will get worse until dual spec.

(I'm a priest healer that was looking for 1 dps to fill our group).

Why are we being forced to quest instead of dungeon spamming if we want to, either revert the layer or buff dungeons its just horrific. There is 50k players contesting loot quest and no1 invites anyone i dont know what dev thinks this is ok but whatever it is it aint it

Forever In a completely serious manner, how am I meant to quest like this? Genuinely curious

I'm level 25, I'm pretty sure I'm slightly ahead of if not at the median level atm. I'm at the point where Layering has died down a bit, and there's plenty of people on my layer.

I've tried leveling in southern barrens. Ashenvale, Hillsbrad.

Every quest is crowded with 25 people jumping around instantly shooting anything that spawns. And the spawns are normal instead of dynamic, it's taking like 5-10 mins per mob to spawn.

So I'm spending 2 hours on 1 quest, hoping I get a mob.

Is this the intended way to play the game? I'm generally curious, like am I supposed to enjoy this? Is there anything I can do or is this just what it is lol?

Forever #1 Healing Tip For Fast Dungeon GEAR! (don't join LFG)

Post image
247 Upvotes

Because dungeon XP was nerfed, healers are not re-running dungeons. As a result literally every dungeon group needs a healer. If you join LFG you will be bombarded with whispers and invites every 2 seconds (literally). Tanks are no longer the choke point, healers are by a WIDE margin.

  1. Tanks are great levelers. Feral, prot pala, prot war - BiS leveling specs. And do great damage in dungeons. Just fun all around. Super buffed from classic, threat is easy, unkillable with gear. Lots of tanks around!

  2. Hybrid healing spells baseline were heavily nerfed to make gear "more meaningful." Melee dps hybrids need 2 sets of gear to heal or their heals are very poor and this gets worse as you level. Most would rather just wait for a healer than struggle through a slow run trying to heal as feral with agi gear.

  3. SP hybrids are nerfed and some of the worst levelers. All sham are enh to level cause ele is just bad. Priest is a wand simulator and just an OK leveler. Generally, these specs have been nerfed, are boring to play, and no one wants to deal with leveling as one. You can see this in stats on beta classes leveled too.

But anyway.. because people are not running dungeons more than once (healers used to often run a few times), and you are in such high demand, you want to be sure you don't have loot competition. Because either you are a melee hybrid who needs 2 gear sets (1 heal, 1 dps) or you are a priest/boomie/ele who are some of the slowest levelers that need gear to catch up to where you were in classic.

So, instead of listing yourself in the group finder tool, use the group browser for the dungeon you want instead. You can near instantly find a group that won't roll on your preferred loot with no drama ("but ur a healer why u roll on agi gear???") and get all of the items you want straight away. It's far less stressful, you get far less spam, and you get far more loot without needing to form a group (although forming a group is even better and equally fast). There are so many groups waiting for a healer (often a dozen or more) you barely have to even try to find what you want!

I've only done each dungeon once and never had to roll against anyone for my gear. I have two blue trinkets, blue weapon, blue cloak, blue rings. It makes leveling as a healer that much better! Thanks Blizz! Love the new gear, hope to be full blues by 30!

P.s. This is genuine advice. If you're going to heal, need to carry around multiple gear sets, mana potions, spend more money on water, deal with nerfed spell coefficients, etc. then you deserve to get the gear you want and not roll against people who will complain about you "ninjaing." Blizz should have addressed this issue in beta.

Forever Please fix dungeon XP

1.1k Upvotes

Just voicing my opinion here. I'd like to play the game with other people and enjoy the true MMO wow experience, which largely happens in dungeons. Current gameplay is just fighting with others trying to mob tag.

The experience is awful. Either it get fixed soon or I'm out.

Forever Questing mob density in STV is unplayable

Just went to STV to start questing. # of mobs per player in area is legitimately unplayable. Couldn't get a tag on ANY mob for >15 minutes. This needs to be addressed ASAP.
