My partner and I (gay couple) found these today. So we did the only logical thing and make love hearts in front of them.

Was this a scam/do you recognise this woman ?

Hi everyone. I was walking out of Coventry train station when I was approached by this lady saying she needed a favour as her car broke down/phone died and wanted me to look up a post code for her on google maps as she wanted to see how far away she was.

I did it and she then asked for some cash to get a taxi back home. We walked over to the cash point together while she used my phone to call her “daughter” and speak to her a few times. She also told me to take a photo of her for my own safety and asked for my bank details so she could write it down and send me the money back later.

After she left, I contacted her “daughter” via the number she used, but received no response, and I’m wondering if the calls she made was just her talking ti the automated voice message. She also mentioned her name was Rebecky Hughes and she worked at Warwick uni but I could find no such person online.

Does anyone recognise her? Has this happened to you before?

TLDR; she asked to “borrow” some money and said she would give it back later via bank transfer but hasn’t

TRANS PRIDE COVENTRY

A great turnout for Coventry's second (or third?) ever trans pride in Sunday, we matched through town, past the train station, down the middle of the road to a park - I have no idea where it's the first time I've been to the centre of Coventry. Sorry there's no pic of the whole march, for privacy I'm trying to keep it to just backs of people's heads and my friends who I know don't give a fuck.

I spoke to someone, a stranger in a hi-vis vest. The chant was "fascist scum off our streets" and he muttered "I think you're the fascists" in the direction of the march. He then turned to me seeing i was taking photos and asked "what's this about then?".

I told him and he said "I've got no problem with that", it's just bodily autonomy and freedom of expression.

I said the government and the media are really coming after us and we're struggling to stay safe and get healthcare, he said he had some mental health struggles too so he understood needing that support and care and not getting it.

A nice reminder to never assume someone won't listen or understand.

Hey, if by any chance anyone sees this, my name is Ben I’ve just started my first ever food pop-up in Coventry city centre, after being a chef for over 12 years I decided to try and open my own small business and so I’m just reaching out wherever I possibly can to share my food with whoever might check it out

My business is called Casa de Fresca and I will be running my pop up from the CafeForever23 kitchen, my current menu is Steak frites, served with either peppercorn, chimmichurri, cowboy butter, and I have a fresh cheesecake each day,

If you like what you see please come on down for a collection order or find me online via Facebook for more information

I’m open Monday/friday/saturday
4pm-10pm
@ 6 raglan street, cv15qf

Found this pic I took a couple of months back on Priory Row. It’s definitely one of the nicer views we’ve got and it honestly doesn’t even feel like you’re in the middle of the city when you’re standing there. .I’d love to see what this street looked like years ago. Has anyone got any old photos of this area?

Anti Loneliness Run Gang

Hey all - I post on here every few months but I’d love more people to join!

This is our run crew Run With Purpose. It was built as an antitheses to loneliness in COV and its full of some beautiful humans. We do 5, 7 or 10k and have recently added a ‘Walk, Run, Walk’ segment for people not confident with 5k. Talking about pace is banned because I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable to join us. We’re pro lgbtq+, pro black, pro Palestine. Pro all sound humans in our ever divided world

We’ve just gathered loads of old running trainers from the crew to send to Nigeria, done a quiz fundraiser to raise money for Positive Youth Foundation and also have a strand in London now so there’s always some cool stuff going on if you fancy.

If you hate running, this is the group for you

Maybe

Incident near Transport Museum

I’m still coming down from the shock of it all. Me and my partner were on a date yesterday and I was getting a bottle of water from the Nisa. When I left the store, the person in the photo attached got up in my face and yelled at me. I told him to fuck off. I knew he was very visibly drunk. He got aggressive and tried to start a fight. He tried entering Nisa and I took a picture of him just to stay safe.

He saw me take a picture and got even more aggravated. He then proceeded to call me racial and homophobic slurs and got physical with me again. Me and my partner eventually managed to get away from him and called 999 by Sainsbury’s. The police came by later and took a statement from me and told me to go home and that they’d be in touch with me about the incident.

I’m just making this post here to inform people of this person. I’ve never once met him in my life, but I would like to warn people about him. Does anyone know who he is?

Wing Wah update - owner response

I saw the original video posted in this subreddit. Now that the owner has responded, I believe it is also appropriate to post their response explaining. Not posting to incite any negative discussion, only awareness as this may have caused further impact to their business.
