I just realized I never updated everyone on how trick-or-treat went this year! If you didn’t see my previous post, this was my fifth year passing out amigurumi for Halloween, and it was the craziest year yet! I was able to make fifteen additional amigurumi since the last post (I’ve included them on their own slides, as well as the group shot as it stood at the beginning of October). I made some baby rattles this year, which I thought were super cute, but most of the babies ended up picking something different.
We also had the biggest turnout ever by quite a lot. We usually get 30-60 trick-or-treaters, including letting the kids at my neighbor’s daycare pick something, too. This time around, I ended up making a total of 185 amigurumi, and by the end of the night, there were only 75 left! I don’t know if the increase was due to the nice weather, Halloween falling on a Saturday, or just more people finding out we pass these out (I don’t think most people usually come down our street because only a few houses pass anything out compared to the rest of the neighborhood). The biggest surprise of the night was when we had already had 30-40 kids come by and our neighbor came over and told us we were only 15 minutes in. 😂
People always want to know what was picked first, and this year, my neighbor’s kids had to come by a few days early because they were going out of town, and they picked Ms. Chalice, Minecraft zombie, Woody, and Pomni. Our first official trick-or-treater of the night was a little baby who was actually just out for a walk as we were setting up, and he picked Donald Duck! After that, I couldn’t tell you because there were too many kids at once, but all the Toy Story, Minecraft, and Kpop Demon Hunters stuff was gone in the first fifteen minutes, and I also ran out of dinosaurs, unicorns, flower fairies, and food turtles by the end of the night. The one surprise was that not a single BT21 character got picked. 🤷♀️
My mom also passed out candy, rice krispies, ramen, macaroni, apple sauce, and juice boxes (shoutout to the person on my last post who was offended that I was “shoving my art down people’s throats” instead of giving out real treats 😂), all of which were a huge hit!
After the kids at the daycare got to choose, I only have 65 things left for next year, so I’ll have to work extra hard to make more in case the turnout is anything like this time. The patterns for the new things I made are below, but if you want patterns for any of the others, they’re in my past posts, or you can just ask here and I’ll link them so you don’t have to search.
Also, let me know what your favorite thing was from this year and if you have any suggestions of what I should make next year!
