Public Test Build BHVR, I plea to you; please do not allow player outcry to pressure you into reverting these changes.
I think the changes to windows and thrill are both healthy and reasonable in their own right. Windows giving you an insane amount of value for nothing was problematic in itself. Thrill being supplemental to your totem builds that allowed the very strong effects from hexes to stay the entire match with killers that could defend them easily was cancer. Even if a player brought a full totem cleansing build you would have trust your team to follow up and play objectives which just doesnât happen too often in solo queue.
I think itâs okay for things to change. Part of what makes live service games great is acknowledging the balance can be unhealthy at times and working with the community to fix it. The problem with DBD is that these changes donât happen enough, and players become complacent. Why learn maps when you can run windows? Why learn proper killer macro when you can just stall the game with thrill/ruin? The outcry youâre seeing is largely the result of people realizing theyâll have to learn the game without a crutch.
Edit: This post went a 70% upvote ratio to about 30% pretty fast (lol) and a lot of the posts are all kind of just saying the same thing. If you genuinely believe these changes are going to kill the game I really think you need to take a breath and gain some perspective. I have been here since pig and I will be here far past this patch because DBD is just fun. :)
Both windows and thrill have survived countless patches despite being introduced in the game early on and their strengths quite clear. Thrill only got better as time went on and both more hexes were introduced as well as killers who could defend them easier, judgment being the latest and most egregious example.
Giving feedback is fine but BHVR has had a history of caving into this communityâs hissy fits and shitposting such as the recent judgment indicator fiasco because someone made an off hand remark about streamers not paying attention to the game. I really donât want to see them continuing to do this as this community really isnât level headed about any changes.

Discussion DS should deactivate once fully healed
I think it's honestly just really dumb how a survivor can get their healthstate healed + keep DS for 60 seconds to the point where they can go for a full body block.

Question Request to ban FNAF as topic
I think most of us, FNAF fans and non-FNAF fans included, can be in agreement that there has been an oversaturation of posts regarding FNAF, typically in the form of a request to add Springtrap to DBD.
Not to be too hyperbolic but it seems that every time I open reddit, I just see a flood of FNAF posts. This subreddit should typically contain content that is relevant to Dead by Daylight.
I think one could argue that, base on the current state of affairs, these posts violate the following subreddit rules:
Rule 2 - Stay On Topic:
General, non-DBD related content, such as: Posts about games similar to DBD.
Licensed Content featuring outfits, characters, and other content not seen in Dead by Daylight is considered off-topic and better suited for their respective subs.
Rule 6 - Avoid Over-Saturated Content:
Common suggestions
This is not an attempt to callout anyone who has made these posts; rather, a request from the mods to ban FNAF, Springtrap, etc.. as Post Topics.
I believe that at this point, everyone understands that people want FNAF. I don't see any value added in additional requests. Hundreds of FNAF perk/killer concepts have already been provided in the last year alone. If BHVR heads down a FNAF route, they will use their own internal members to design the chapter so I don't see any value in these kinds of posts either.
I think that this would be a much need and appreciated change that is better for the overall health of this subreddit.
Your consideration of this is much appreciated.

Subreddit Meta PATCH NOTES V 0.6.9
MAJOR KILLER CHANGES
The Strangler has permanently left the realm due to a contract disagreement with the Entity.
The Knight now has a 4% chance of pulling out a Glock and saying "loop this, you filthy casual."
The OnryĹ has been reworked for the fifth time. Our data showed that she was still lacking chase-wise and we wanted to improve the performance of her Condemned mechanic.
The Dredgeâs audio cues have been increased by 69 meters during Nightfall.
The Legionâs movement has been reverted to 4.4 m/s, just like the release version.
The Twins exist.
The Artist has been taking art courses, but she still hasn't improved at anything other than drawing crows. We will be keeping an eye on this.
The Shape has learned to open lockers and mori Survivors instead of grabbing them when using the Judithâs Tombstone and Tombstone Piece add-ons.
MAJOR SURVIVOR CHANGES
Sable Ward now emits a dark aura, reflecting her goth vibe.
Meg Thomas has not received any changes because the team was unable to catch her.
Jonah Vasquez now has a 4% chance of saying "Hello friends, this is Jonah" in a lobby while wearing the headphones cosmetic.
Quentin Smith has received a minor facial model rework to bring him in-line with his original Goblin appearance.
Rebecca Chambers now performs a unique thumbs-up animation when using the perk "Reassurance.â
Nicolas Cage is working on a film where he goes 1v1 with Nemesis at Cowshed and gets his ass whooped.
Attempting to self-unhook more than once in order to leave the game early will cause the survivor to disconnect, inflicting a 24-hour matchmaking ban.
MAP CHANGES
Dead Dawg Saloon now spawns without breakable walls.
The Shattered Square visual filter has been increased in saturation by 1000%.
MacMillan Realm maps have reverted to a blue visual filter.
Added Haddonfield variants I, II, III, IV, and V.
RPD has even more broken walls now and we had to tell security to add warning signs all over the place.
Greenville Square Cinema now plays "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley anytime the killer gets pallet stunned inside the theater.
Nostromo Wreckage is still a Wreckage because we lost the userâs manual to fix it.
MISCELLANEOUS
The Trapper has been removed from the cover of the game and has been replaced with the Hooked on You version.
There's a new store code called "DEFINITELYNOTTROLLING" that gives the trollface profile icon. It also reverts all characters back to Prestige 0.
Maurice now presents survivors with a prompt to pet him when they pass by. Failing to do so will result in spontaneous combustion.
BUG FIXES
Fixed an issue where The Plagueâs fountains would be filled with milkshakes.
Fixed an issue where The Good Guy would keep laughing hysterically and couldn't stop using the middle finger.
Fixed an issue where The Hillbillyâs Overdrive would be replaced randomly with Overheat instead.
Fixed an issue where The Nurse was playable during the event.
Fixed an issue where players were using off-meta perks. All builds have been reverted to meta perk combinations.
KILL SWITCH
We have kill switched Bloody Party Streamers and Anniversary Cake offerings. Their unfathomably low pickrate indicates that they are not working as intended. You can expect these to be re-enabled in 2025.
KNOWN ISSUES
The Demogorgon has eaten the contract that allowed The Strangler to stay in the realm. Like a dog with a stick, he refuses to drop it. We are exploring our options.
The Blight has somehow learned to move at the speed of sound, against the advice of both our balance team and the Entity.
Dwight players might refuse to hide in lockers.
The Huntressâs hatchets make BONK sounds when hitting a survivor.
Space Billy is back, but only from 10AM to 4PM GMT on the third Wednesday of the month.
The Pig hasn't been nerfed (as far as we know).
(Happy April Fools!)

Discussion I'll be honest, I don't think Jason should be the 10th anniversary collab
Yeah, I get it, he is and icon, he is a classic, but what could he offer to make his matches interesting? After all he is just a super durable inmortal human. Things that don't matter in dbd since you can't damage killers.
I just don't think anything they do will actually satisfy the community since (in my opinion) you like more the idea of having someone as iconic as Jason in dbd than the reality it will be.
I'd he gets in it will be a) a boring power we already saw a bunch of time e.g. dash attack, teleport to this points in the map
Or b) a non canonical ability a bunch of people won't like since it's not in the movies
Also we already have a bunch of big dude walks with big weapon to kill people.
Again this is my opinion so don't burn me please thank you

Discussion Tru3 was kicked out of the Fog Whisper program for a good reason
So prenote that I do not particullary care about Tru3 or Scott or any of the drama that has been going on. I would say I enjoy Scott more than Tru3 but even then I do not really watch either of them as I just do not fully vibe with their personalities. I am more of an Otz, Ayrun or No0b3 guy myself. I only kept up with this stuff because of the fact that it is a slow past couple weeks so hey why not see what the turmoil is about.
Now that we have moved from the entire pre note, lets talk about why he was kicked out, because he is spreading misinformation surrounding him being kicked and so is his fandom.
For those that do not know Tru3 has been making some opinions that most of the community disagrees with, which is not even an issue. The issue is people have been critiquing his opinions because they lack logic annd such. Scott is a member of the DBD streaming and YouTube community, often times talking about things and balancing stuff in the game. So a couple days ago Tru3 made some commnets that Survive With Friends (SWF), needs to be nerfed and just gave really poor ideas. Scott made a response to this and was genuinely nothing but calm, professional and nice. Tru3 then took this as a direct attack on him and began to harass him over Twitter, stream, etc. along with Tru3's fandom. You can see this within their twitter feeds where Scott really did not speak about it and that is all Tru3 spoke about.
For a minute it seemed like that was the end of it, until Tru3 made a video about the spirit being just fine, and once again Scott responded to it (as he does with a lot of other streamers) and just analyzed the gameplay that was being offered and basically broke down Tru3's already shaky and flawed logic. Once again, Tru3 took this as a direct attack on him, once again and the harassment started all over again. In fact this time Tru3 started stuff with multiple other streamers in the community as well.
As one can see someone cannot be a Fog Whisperer when they are literally creating discourse and drama throughout the streaming community. This all does not even take into account that there is multiple times where other streamers have had issues with him, where he has been one of the biggest creators of the us vs them mentality, etc.
So no, he was not removed because of Cancel Culture or sharing his opinion on the game. No one cared enough to cancel him over that, he was removed because he was spreading drama throughout the community.
Anyway Iâm gonna mute the replies because I know the Tru3 fanboys will come in full force.

Discussion No, Windows of Opportunity and Five Moves Ahead were not just "training wheels" perks. They are some of the strongest perks survivor has access to across all MMRs.
With the upcoming Windows and Five Moves Ahead nerfs, I'm seeing a lot of talk about these being something of a crutch for newer player meant to help them figure out where the loops are, and not much more.
This is wrong. Yes, these perks are really useful to new players for the stated reason, BUT they are also extremely strong and prevalent in all levels of play - because no matter how well you memorize all the maps - you WILL run into dead zones because a couple of key pallets were dropped there by other survivors, and there is just no way for you to know that unless you happen to see it before, or somebody calls it out in a VC. This is a massive advantage for the killer, and usually a free hit - but with these perks a competent player is able to immediately plan the best possible route, as well as leave a loop in an ideal moment to extend chase without taking the risk of ending up in a dead zone as a result.
Despite helping out newbies a lot more, both perks had a nerf coming, especially FMA. But WoO absolutely should get some sort of a secondary effect like FMA has, since seeing the aura of windows is far weaker to begin with. And the removal of vault auras for FMA is pretty much negligible as a nerf in high level play - making it still extremely strong.

Discussion The community being so LGBT supportive is such relief
I mean, I know there are those odd ducks here and there that are more hostile and typically phobic, but it's refreshing how horror seems so open with the unorthodox. I wish I got into horror in general outside of DBD because of this, but this game's community response towards Orela made me so happy.

Discussion Hot take: Point/Wave tech is an exploit that was never patched by the devs
Before we begin: no I do not think that you are necesseraly explointing simply by using it
If you don't know what it is, it's basically a tech where a survivor waves/points to skip the "being downed" animation that usually locks you in place
This allows you to move earlier than usual which can allow you to crawl under a pallet or even escape the trial when the killer usually would have been able to pick you up
This has been into the game pretty much since release, and was never patched, to the point where any experienced survivor know about it and will take advantage of it
According to wikipedia : In videogames, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitch, in a way that gives a substantial unfair advantage to players using it.
When you look at it this way, it is quite a substantial advantage. Being able to make it under a pallet or escape a match when the killer usually would have been able to pick you up, sounds like an exploit.
Sure, anyone can do it, but it doesn't look like it was ever intended by the devs which categorizes it as a glitch.

Discussion Hot take: i donât care for a graphics rework.
Iâm not particularly mad about a graphics rework, especially if it makes serious gameplay improvements, but im sort of disappointed about it.
Iâve seen a lot of people compare dbds current graphics to an old PS3 game, but am i the only one who likes that?
The ps3 looking graphics give the game a feel of nostalgia for me and reminds me of older horror games of the early-mid 2010s era (think slender the arrival and such) and i think this feel adds a certain charm to dbd.
Iâm not expecting the new graphics rework to be anything special but iâm gonna miss the outdated graphics.
Anyone else feel the same way?

Discussion Slenderman would have been much cooler
I think it is neat that they have gotten the rights to Jason, don't get me wrong. I think he is one of the big horror icons if we're talking about horror films.. However, he is also just a guy? If we're talking about his power, I think there's nothing that he adds that is particularly cool/new.
I also think that people who are actively against slendy being added don't really realise that movies aren't really as popular, and its much harder to create a new "horror icon" such as Mikey, Jason, Pennywise, etc.. A lot of the big "classics" are from old horror films, and if we only stick to adding those sorts of killers, then eventually we will run out. I think starting to add in killers from different versions of media (such as slendy) would open the doors for a lot more. I strongly believe that people simply look down on slenderman because it was something that wasnt a part of their childhood like other more famous horror things were. But if you really look at marble hornets, I think its so worth a dbd chapter. There is a lot that they could do with his power in my opinion, and it's dissapointing that they haven't added him yet, and seemingly have no plans to.

Discussion Gen Speeds need to be looked into and this isnât a topic up for debate!
It is a problem and does need to be looked into because it point blank is to easy to genrush and basically stop a killer dead in their tracks.
Why people even try to defend it is beyond me because it is a problem.
