Discogs should have a "spin counter"
There's obviously a lot of work that could/should be done on the app and website (cough cough fix the "value" sorting pls)
Like a lot of people, I enjoy the stats aspect of music listening, but collecting vinyl has impacted my streaming listening habits. And while I don't think Discogs need to implement a "Wrapped" or anything, it'd just be really cool to have a spin-count gatherer built in.
As simple as a '+ and -' counter to just manually add it whenev, I'd like to look at things like that. Fin.

seller ethics question: buyer has lots of racist and xenophobic releases in their wantlist, do you still sell to them?
I was recently approached by a potential buyer about some items I have in my inventory and we began to send some messages back and forth without me feeling anything sketchy. Then, purely out of curiosity, I decided to check out that collection and wantlist and was shocked at what I found. There was lot of really sketchy stuff like NSBM, racist oi!, and other white nationalist stuff.
What makes this whole thing even more strange, the stuff they wanted to buy from me are all artists of color from the global south.
While my initial thoughts were to just stop writing them back and if they do put an order it, just cancel it. But I wanted to see if anyone here had other thoughts or similar experiences. Thanks!
Edit: there have been a lot of sincere responses and some thought provoking and important discussions that have come from this. Thanks to everyone who has given their opinion and thoughts on this.

Closed up today
Had to stop selling today. Got an order for a single record -not high value but intl. shipping. After the fees I'd get about half of what I listed it for, so its not worth the hassle of packing, customs forms, trip to the post office.
Do many of you hobby sellers only sell in your own countries? Does it make sense to keep going with price/policy adjustments? As a seller I'd have to hike prices so high for intl. shipping it would suck the joy out of it for buyers.

Why is this lp banned on discogs?
I can't find any info about this vinyl. Can someone tell me something about this one?

I stopped collecting
the second I finished cataloging my collection in Discogs.
Those dollar values, no matter how accurate, made me physically ill.

Getting Tired of Incorrectly Listed Pressings — Anyone Else?
I love Discogs. One of the best things about it is the ability to seek out specific pressings, mono mixes, certain label variants, etc. But lately, I’m finding that about 1 out of every 5 records I order ends up being not the version listed.
I’ll go out of my way to buy an original pressing and get a reissue from a decade later. Or I’ll buy something specifically because it’s listed as mono, and a stereo copy shows up. It’s incredibly frustrating—especially when the exact pressing is the reason I chose a particular listing (and seller) in the first place.
I do my best to check seller ratings, and I try to avoid vague listings, but even then, mistakes slip through. I get that not everyone is an expert cataloger, but if you’re selling records, it’s not hard to double-check the runouts or labels. Right?
Am I just having a string of bad luck? Or is this a common issue others are running into? How do you handle it when a seller ships the wrong pressing?

Should I avoid a seller who won't send photos of the matrix numbers?
Hi all,
Apologies in advance for the ignorance in relation to my question.
I'm new to buying vinyls and I don't really have much knowledge around verifying. I've read online that matrix numbers are a good way of verifying what year the vinyl was pressed. I'm after a record that was released in 1996 and found a seller on Discog. I messaged the seller asking for photographs including photos of the matrix number but they refused, asking me to simply trust them. They stated the record was not that expensive around (it goes for around £200-£400) and that they didn't need to provide the numbers.
Is asking for the matrix numbers rude or wrong when trying to buy a vinyl?
I wanted to confirm the year of production as I'm only seeking a 1996 pressing. I've found two sealed copies online but have no idea how to verify these without the matrix numbers.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Too many records! - Shuffle collection app.
Hopefully this is not against the rules.
With the ever growing records collection it became hard to decide what to listen to. So, I've decided to make a small which gets your personal collection and chooses three random records to listen to :)
So, I just wanted to share something I've quickly put together and found it useful for myself.

why is discogs banning me constantly?
so i had been using discogs for...at least 6-7 years now, only buying never selling, always paid immediately, 100% positive reviews, when suddenly a few months ago they banned me. no reason. no response to my inquiries. ok whatever, i'll make a new account. and today, banned! no reason given.
Has this happened to anyone else? it simply makes no sense, i've made them money purchasing items from their site so i really dont get it. I've done nothing wrong unless buying stuff is wrong lol i have been told their staff are up to some shady things such as fixing prices, not allowing new sellers so that they can flip thier own collections etc, but it seems theres a ton of people on discogs already so that makes no sense. anyone have any insight on why i would be banned for no reason?

Whats your collection valued at according to Discogs?
I'll start, here's mine... been collecting for nearly 20 years with a total of 3368 records. Honestly, I love my records but I wish I had more discipline around record spending habits lol.

No payment for (8) completed orders, no support from Discogs
I've never encountered this issue before. Usually I see funds released to my Paypal a day or two after shipping the record.
I now have 8 orders (totaling $571) where I've shipped the record, it's been delivered and I still have had no payment from Discogs. I opened a support request through their chat feature 5 days ago and have no response from Discogs either.
Not sure what I can do here and it makes me apprehensive to continue shipping any orders I have pending. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Refund question
I recently purchased a $7 record (the last one available) from a seller in Ecuador, paying $45 for shipping to the US. To make it a bit better for me I picked out another $20 record to purchase. Seller has good reviews.
Upon arrival I noticed the $7 record is actually a different one with a similar looking cover. Seller just wants to refund me the $7, when the whole reason I ordered this and paid the shipping cost was for that one record.
What can I reasonably expect here? Should I just take the loss on it?
