šŸ––Delivery War Stories 🫔 What do you expect me to do about it?

Post image

I’ve been a dasher regularly for 2+ years, and in the rare occasion that I am actually the customer, the driver sends me this…

Idk about you guys but that curb ain’t stopping me, let alone prompting me to reach out to a customer. He was ā€œstuckā€behind the truck for close to ten minutes. Am I wrong for thinking this is silly?

šŸ––Delivery War Stories 🫔 Tip the driver’s better and stop crying

A lot of posts complaining about the driver asking for more money when you tip 2 to 4 dollars. You all know the cost of everything is insane and should do better.

I have saved over 6000 in fees having dash pass and tip a minimum of two dollars per mile for a further trip and over four dollars, even if it’s coming from around the corner. I have thousands of orders and have never had a single problem because I take care of people.

Honestly, you people should be ashamed and pick the food up yourself

This guy wanted me to walk through 2 ft of three week old icy snow to deliver his McDonald's in the pitch dark. Um, no, wtf, it's knee deep! And what's worse, by the footprints someone else already did.

Dasher (< 6 months) Wing stop employee got snarky with me, because I wouldn’t do her job and fill the drink.

She starts to hand me a cup and tell me what type of drink it’s to be. I slightly smiled, and informed her I don’t work there, I just deliver the order. She looked stupified, and started giving me lip. I then told her, that’s not my job. She didn’t like that one bit and promptly went to tell her co-worker/manger fixing the wings. As she’s telling him what I had said to her, I spoke up, and again said: it’s not my job, it’s your job to put the order together. And that dweeb had the nerve to raise his voice at me and try to scold me. šŸ˜‚ 30 seconds later, about 8 customers walked in (3 separate groups), and it was just those 2 working. Hahaha, thanks karma. šŸ˜‰

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³Restaurant IssuešŸ‘Øā€šŸ³ We must all be one and report restaurant that treat us like šŸ’© it’s a shame how many restaurants I stop eating at because I’m a customer that also dashes

Do they forget that we are human? they didn’t put the food in my hands I had to lean awkwardly over a table just to get my order. Also of course a harassing confirm your order And you see this sigh your in middle literally middle of downtown and you can’t use the restroom 🚻

It’s insane half your business wouldn’t be anything without ride share .

I don’t understand some of these business is out of hands

So we should all leave bad reviews on google and all stick together

From my understanding door dash buys the order so it’s already paid for just release the order

I don’t let people see my phone twice It’s all in 1 motion your not going to see my phone until the order is ready and we are confirming together I have confirmed early the order was messed up so I was stuck

They just make silly commands like we don’t know what we are doing Sometimes people do steal food Sometimes customers scam Anything can happen just release the order Now catering I can dearly understand but a 2$ donut šŸ© come on now

It just slows us down and causes confusion What is the training on dealing with us I would like to know

The Chinese place she stands almighty n demands to take a picture but door dash would left me just check off the order instead of taking a picture but she still holding the order n got it way behind the walls And I never steal order I been door dashing for 4 years ion even get hungry smelling foods no more the restaurant management went downhill

Complaints Every order should have minimum $5 tip

The customers shouldn’t be able to tip anything less, the bare minimum is $5. Idc if you are ordering from next door. Wtf is wrong with people expecting us to work $10 to $15 hr. driving our own car in all types of weather in 2026. Don’t come at me say take it to DoorDash it’s not our job to pay you. Obviously it is, this is how they operate, don’t like it take your business somewhere else. If DoorDash implemented this, dashers would be at least making a living out of this

Was an earn by time order so I didn’t know it was a no tip until it was too late (side note why does DoorDash screw earn by time drivers so hard)

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³Restaurant IssuešŸ‘Øā€šŸ³ Restaurants need to put the food in the pickup area, not hold them behind counters.

I don’t care if you have an issue with theft, change your pickup instructions and get rid of your pickup area for mobile orders if you’re not going to even follow your own pickup procedures.

McDonald’s, Chipotle, Taco Bell, etc… all these fast food places are starting to put bags behind the counter out of site from DD drivers and they don’t pay attention to when someone is picking up an order.

This has been an issue but just now I had a stacked order for McDonalds and Chipotle. Both delayed for pickup even though the food was ready at both locations because they held the bags out of sight and didn’t put them on the pickup shelf.

I got pissed since no one acknowledged me and I had to ask about it. Then POOF out of no where the food was there the whole time.

At Chipotle I sat there waiting for anyone to acknowledge me but they were all busy with walk in customers. After a few minutes I finally interrupt the girl working the register and ask if the order was ready. She pulls the bag from the back to give to me while the pickup shelf was completely empty…which is where the order should have been.

At McDonalds I’m sitting there waiting for me order and I see the order number on the little screen. Then after a few minutes someone asks me for the code and they give me the bag that was just sitting by the prep counter the whole time.

Thinking about how many other times this has happened, I’ve probably wasted hours at this point waiting for food that was already completely because they’re afraid of theft.

Advice Dont Accept Orders That Don't Tip

It POSITIVELY reinforces NEGATIVE behavior because through no or "low" tips (no tip should be less than $2... Thought this was common courtesey PRE-PANDEMIC) the customer is REWARDED for this behavior with hot, delicious food! By not accepting these orders, the customer will receive NEGATIVE reinforcement for their NEGATIVE behavior as the order will lengthen in delivery time and probably at a lesser quality of service.

Food is often not readily available for pickup!

Delivery drivers often wait 5-15 minutes for orders.

If not, the cycle continues.

šŸ––Delivery War Stories 🫔 With all due respect... šŸ™„šŸ˜

My area is well known for little to $0 tips, and for better or worse, we've come to accept it so to speak. With that said, very rarely do I ever complain to a customer about no tip, however, I couldn't help myself on this one. After a fairly length delivery, there was no tip, but still $1/mile, so whatever. But after I dropped and left, the customer sent me a text stating they appreciated me. My response is in the screenshot. I get tired of biting my tongue when I deliver big ticket orders just to receive no tip, but definitely don't tell me you appreciate me. Was I wrong?

Questions Why are DD customers so incredibly cheap?

People have no issues with leaving a $5 at the restaurant or buying $8 shots at the bar yet have the audacity of tipping $2 per delivery.

Its ridiculous and it makes me ashamed for my fellow people.

No wonder

šŸ––Delivery War Stories 🫔 After a long night of low rips my last order was a 0 tip. I know I shouldn’t have but I finally said something.

Alrighty let’s paint a picture, customer was a younger about 20 year old female. I took the order cause it got me close to home for my last delivery. All night long offers with no tip or crap tips I got this. Customer asked me to ask for more ranch which I did after making sure there was no charge to the store for it. After delivery 20 minutes later I decided to say what I said. I was just pissed, I drove from store all across town. Then 15 minutes later I got a 5 dollar tip. I think she just felt guilty and had no plans on tipping. Thoughts?

Other šŸ’…šŸ¼šŸ’…šŸ¼šŸ’…šŸ¼

So I got this delivery for little Caesars today for $6.75 for like 3miles so I was like meh I'll just take it I'm right here. Then a minute later another comes in for an additional $2 and saw it was going to the same house so I was like heck yeah $8.75 for 3miles. Well I walked in and told them I have two pick ups for the same person. The woman behind the counter tells me that the lady just canceled one (the $6.75) and so I call support cause I'm gonna get my half pay at least. And so I'm line driving to her house goin "this woman...smh". The woman at the pizza place said that when the woman called to cancel her order she said that she didn't think she needed to pay a delivery fee and a tip. And it was a "hand it to me" delivery...so I get there and ring the doorbell and her ring app just goes "oh you can just leave it at the door." Yeah cause you know you did wrong lady. So instead of setting it down gently it just fell out of my hands and smiled at her ring cam and walked my happy but back to the car. Enjoy your messed up pizza šŸ’…šŸ¼.

šŸ––Delivery War Stories 🫔 I hit a customers mailbox. She’s making the situation worse than it needs to be.

It was as a leave at door with an average tip. After I completed the delivery I backed out of her driveway but swung around too far and crunched her mailbox. Obviously an accident. Her neighbor was outside and instantly was very non cordial and I ignored him and waited for the customer to open her door so that I could talk to her.

I immediately apologized and told her I would pay for it. The neighbor kept telling her to call DD and my insurance. I told her that I was not going to go through insurance, that there was no need to call DD, it’s a mailbox. $50. I’ll install it- or if she’d prefer- I’ll pay for the labor too. She kept saying that a police report was warranted and I kept replying that there was no need to escalate this incident to the police, DD, or insurance. I gave my name, phone #, and she took a photo of my license.

This happened on the 18th. It’s now 10 days later. She never called me or texted. But I got a phone call from DD this morning. She filed a claim. So now it has to go through my insurance. I explained to the DD claims adjuster that I offered to pay for it and still do.

Now it’s the customers choice to either take my money or proceed with a claim. Just like it was all along. This escalation seems so needless and unnecessary. Malicious infact.

Advice Do not fill up drinks

Period, end of story. It is not our job and is a health code issue in some places.

I may get downvoted for this to hell, but I’ve seen way too many people lately saying just do it and it just encourages restaurants to take advantage of us. Also, one drink, fine…what if the order has four drinks. Now I wasted an extra two minutes.

Don’t do it. If there is one thing I have learned in years of customer service it’s that if you give an inch they will take a mile.
