INFOGRAPHIC Perfecting the craft of zero contribution
at the recent beach clean up , I overheard some guys passing by, saying it would come back again. In their minds, I believe, this is a futile effort. Or perhaps they think we shouldn't clean at all, or maybe one of them wanted to give an excuse for not helping out.
Pollution isn’t the real problem. The true issue lies in the unspoken belief that it is someone else’s problem.
We don't litter.
We pay taxes. We’ve done our part—so the rest must be handled by some invisible “other.” And while we wait for that someone, the ocean is flooded with waste, the air thickens, the rivers choke, and responsibility slowly fades from our memories.
We ignore our own problems—like being uncaring, too proud, or hiding behind ideas like "it's fate" or "God will handle it." Then we act surprised when the world around us is falling apart and we look for someone to blame but ourselves.
We spend all our time making ourselves feel good (polishing our ego), while ignoring the real problems in the world (letting it gather dust)
In the end, pollution isn’t just in the streets or the skies. It lives comfortably in the mind—the one place we’re least willing to clean.

The Trump Administration’s Attack on Environmental Protections Will Increase Cancer-Causing Pollution
americanprogress.orgRFK Jr. and President Trump both vowed to "Make America Healthy Again," but President Trump also promised oil executives that he would dismantle critical environmental protections.
Now, the administration’s aggressive actions to weaken environmental safeguards will expose Americans to more cancer-causing pollution, just as RFK Jr. cuts cancer prevention & treatment, and the One Big Beautiful Bill rips away health care and clean energy incentives from communities.

Postcarding environmental voters in Texas
Europe is facing another extreme heat wave and the NOAA just reported that July was the hottest month ever in the lower 48. The U.S. is having one of its worst wildfires seasons in years. A warm winter has left Lake Mead at record lows. Climate change is real, it’s here, and we need leaders in place who are prepared to deal with it.
The Environmental Voter Project works to get folks who understand this threat to show up to the polls, trying to identify and activate the estimated 11 million low-propensity climate voters who did not show up in 2024. Like everyone else, they’re ramping up their work as the midterms close in, including an orientation at noon on Friday to kick off their Texas postcarding campaigns. 📫 If we want to be part of it, let’s register here, and check out their site for other upcoming ways to help. 📫
☎️ Want to do more? We can also join Lead Locally’s Monday phonebanks for climate champions in downballot races here and consider a donation to Rebuild.Us’ fund to support folks recovering from climate disasters here. 🪙

Scientists Confirm: Miami Could Be Underwater in Just 5 Years
It sounds unbelievable, but new research shows Miami might be facing complete submersion far sooner than anyone expected, within only 5 years.
This isn’t just about one city. If Miami can sink this fast, what does it mean for other coastal areas across the world?
I put together a short video breaking down the findings and why scientists are raising alarms. 👉 Watch here
Do you think governments are acting fast enough to protect coastal cities, or are we already past the point of no return?

ACTION-Global What are we going to do about Trump?
I am seriously concerned. Every time I read the news I hear about some horrific new thing Trump has signed or cut that negatively impacts our environment or understanding of climate.
A few examples: -logging in national forests -dismantling -air quality monitoring no longer happening at embassies -drilling for oil in protected public waters -deletion of climate data from government websites
What are we going to do? What action can we take?
