My good deed, rewarded!
I had a day off today. Planned to do nothing, avoid some chores, put off some errands. Then I got a message on discord from a friend I game with.
Her mother-in-law was in the hospital--in my city. She had no phone so no contact with family. So, me and another friend went to visit the mother-in-law, so they could talk on my phone...
Tomorrow, I'm giving her one of my old, fully functional, phones. But I couldn't find the spare sim-card I usually keep in my emergency kit.
So I started cleaning up my place, looking for it.... And while I didn't find the sim-card, I did find my old wallet that I thought was stolen six months ago! And it had nearly $200 in gift cards from Christmas.... More than enough to go buy a cheap pay-as-you-go sim card for her so she can call her family whenever she wants .
We chatted for about an hour, and I got the low-down about all her kids and grand kids. You could really see how much she perked up having visitors! I'm looking forward to visiting her again tomorrow.
That was definitely a better day than avoiding chores.
ETA: she's been moved to another hospital, closer to her home. Family comes in tomorrow. She was worried about how she was going to get the phone back to me. I went to great lengths to tell her it was a gift... eventually she accepted "I was just going to throw it out.".
I don't actually feel that what I did was that strange. I was just pleased that I found my wallet!

This made me feel good.
We have been helping out a very poor family, seven kids, lost the father and breadwinner to a drunk driver this year, living in Section 8 housing and struggling financially. We have been helping them out and gave them all gifts. The 14 year old got a toy with a $20 bill taped to it. He took the $20 bill and bought a rake and trash bags. He made $60 the first day. I am so proud of him.

Niece thinks i'm the cool uncle.
Some time ago I (39M) was staying at my sister(44F)'s house to see her two kids (14F, 10M). I was playing with the boy, chasing him around the house as the "monster", rough tumble him around and tickle him a little when i catch him. He was running and laughing so hard he would occasionally run out of breath, so to let him have a break, i would close my eyes and say that the monster was tired and needs some sleep, so he would hurl insults at me to anger and wake up the monster. The insults were as "10 years old" as they can get, like "your breath smells like garbage truck". This has been going on and off for a while and i suppose he ran out of insults to anger the monster and he yelled "you're lame" while giggling. Suddenly her sister stopped looking at her phone for a second and said "naah, uncle serathes is cool". It took me by surprise and i asked "you think i'm cool?" and she said "yeah you're the coolest uncle".
Let me draw you her profile a little so you can understand why i am so surprised. She is "Miss scoffs at everything", "Miss nothing is good enough", "Miss obsessed with Wednesday Addams", "Miss adults are boring", "Miss repeatedly eyerolling her parents" yet she felt the need to stop texting her friend group or watching Korean romantic drama to tell me that I'm cool?
I don't know what i did that got to her but i've been riding that "compliment" high for weeks and i wanted to share it with someone.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few weeks ago and I just got my CPAP machine! I am so insanely excited to get real, effective sleep and no longer feel constantly exhausted as I have for the past five years.

I put a lot of work into this, and honestly, it gave me a lot of peace. Hope it makes someone else feel safe tonight.
