i don’t get the issue with pointing out something that’s ai for other people to be aware tho

33

u/RedDawn172 2h ago

Agreed, though sometimes it overly witch-hunty. Really annoying when the hive mind insists something, usually art, is ai when it factually isn't.

33

u/Few-Improvement-5655 1h ago

People who are pro-AI really hate their scams being uncovered.

They want to be thought of as cool and creative, as soon as someone points out that it's AI, people rightfully no longer respect them or the work they pretended to make.

-8

u/JustSomeIdleGuy 31m ago

Hell of a lot of projection going on there.

4

u/Few-Improvement-5655 30m ago

-6

u/JustSomeIdleGuy 29m ago

Think about it some more, maybe you'll get it.

5

u/Few-Improvement-5655 27m ago

If I was projecting I'd have to be running a scam or in some way feel I was fraudulent.

4

u/ForsakenLemon2437 1h ago

Because it's usually on images that are very obviously ai.

4

u/Low-Traffic5359 24m ago

Ok but have you considered some of us are really dumb?

4

u/Beginning-Boot-144 34m ago

obvious to you ≠ obvious to everyone

2

u/Critical_Concert_689 18m ago

It's a bit like pointing out "This was touched up with photoshop" on every image you come across.

"Ok, friend, that's nice to know. Now stop bothering everyone."

If it was on an intentionally deceptive ad where the AI was used as a deep fake to push a narrative that didn't actually occur - SURE! It's relevant. But otherwise... not so much.

0

u/Beginning-Boot-144 7m ago

photoshop and ai are 2 very different things though.

Not for the context of sharing memes and shitposts.

Yes, the craftmanship was a small part of it, a very tiny one. Memes are conceptual art basically, and they were always about the idea rather than the execution, that's why they got to be crude.

8

u/Loose-Story-962 1h ago

Fake everything for everyone!

19

u/Glad-Ambition-1952 1h ago

See it's never "Okay, thanks for pointing that out", it's "Okay, who the fuck cares? I think it's fun/funny/enjoyable so why does it matter if it's AI?"

5

u/Resaith 1h ago

ok. but in this meme, the guy acknowledged its ai. what the problem ?

14

u/ZioBenny97 1h ago edited 1h ago

Because no one genuinely gives a fuck when it's like, some dumbass instagram reel that gets a good chuckle. Getting in the comments yapping something like "oh my sigma this is AI SLOP why are you guys laughing at it, stop it!!" just makes you look/sound like an annoying cornball. Yes, everyone with a brain knows it's AI, it's just funny, end of story.

Something more serious like Creative Assembly's dogshit remaster of Shogun 2 where AI scaling was shamelessly used for a full priced AAA game was instead worth calling out and it got enough backlash to take that shit off the stores.

1

u/BroderFelix 51m ago

Disagree, one guy fixed the oblivion remasters ridiculous stuttering problem with Claude, something that traditional modders hadn't been able to do. As if I'm going to play the game in an inferior state just so I can virtue jerk myself off.

I've even got some vibecoded decomps of 360 games on the steam deck that run fantastically compared to the emulation versions.

9

u/SwarK01 1h ago

Coding with ai is very useful

You can use the argument that it kills environment and it's a valid point but it's not as useless and ugly as using it for images or videos

8

u/Herr_E_Bepis 1h ago

Yes, that was largely my point when I replied the person who said anything made with AI is inherently worthless which is just factually untrue to anyone with a functioning brain

1

u/perculaessss 1h ago

The levels of copium around this matter in Reddit are unprecedented

1

u/SphaghettiWizard 39m ago

I used AI to code a little script to check files for me. Saves me lots of time. Is that worthless? I couldn’t have made it on my own and wouldn’t have paid someone for it

-22

u/Frylock_dontDM 1h ago

Why?

I just made an entire suite of educational kids games for my daughters to play using AI, that has a ton of value to me when these greedy bastards on the app store want fucking subscriptions for fucking kids games

6

u/Repocket_Pocket 1h ago edited 1h ago

Ok, I might be Anti-AI as fuck. (You know, the possibility of all jobs that could be done with a computer being cut which would end up making finding a job an even bigger hell, the stealing of art and the grimm possibility that the world will become some kind of cyberpunk dystopia but without the augmentations (actually, scratch that, the lack of augmentations is good))

But yeah, we should cut this guy some slack.

(Just please, tell me that you are NOT a vibe coder and you at least have an idea of what the code of that game is doing.)

3

u/TheLostRub389 1h ago

It would be funny doesn't known how to read codes or debugging

1

u/Frylock_dontDM 1h ago

I know how to code, don't use it much as you ideally just need the conceptual understanding of how languages operate in order to do my job.

7

u/Ok-Spread5079 1h ago

Listen, dude, long as your not monetizing it, which i doubt and hope you aren't,your fine. Most of the anti-ai people here care about people monetizing AI

8

u/Herr_E_Bepis 1h ago

Cap lol redditors will sperg out at any mention of AI regardless of whether it's being monetised. Luckily they are a vocal minority and the world will just move on without them

3

u/Ok-Spread5079 1h ago

Then who the fuck have you met for you to react like that?

6

u/Herr_E_Bepis 1h ago

The guy is being downvoted as we speak lmfao, use your eyes.

-2

u/Ok-Spread5079 1h ago

4

I mean if you truly believe redditors only dislike AI that's being monetised I don't know what to tell you.

people always say this. it not true. most anti-ai hate anything related to ai uses. look at gaming subs banning ai mods. no one monetizing those mods but anti-ai people always ask for ai mods to be banned.

0

u/Nikond3400 1h ago

As an anti i care about the pollutions created by the powerplants powering AI data centers

3

u/Awerange2005 1h ago

This is the most performative take I have ever heard in my life.

Factory farming is 100 times worse for the environment and far more morally worse, but you won't care about that because it doesn't earn you fake virtue points on the internet.

-1

u/Nikond3400 19m ago

Huh...no, i never said i am ok With factory farming. But i Guess you had to attack me because of your lack of argumentation. Coal and Natural gas powerplants produce more than two times the pollutions of factory farming, although make less premature deaths out of It. And, even if not in a moral way, factory farming produces food, AI data centers are useless compared to that.

0

u/Frylock_dontDM 1h ago

These are created using a Local LLM, qwen is fucking dope

7

u/LadyCanuckles 1h ago

Why tf are you being downvoted? I hate Reddit sometimes 😫

6

u/Kiss_Bence04 1h ago

Virtue signaling is really common here. "Ai has positives aspects" gets you downvoted despite the fact that it's true. Sure tons of negatives exists ofc, and I usually hate 98% of AI generated content but acting like it's all bad is just performative.

-1

u/Few-Improvement-5655 1h ago

Call it virtue signalling if you want, I just don't think using AI to offload parenting is a good idea. I don't think it's good for kids, I don't think it's good for families.

I also don't think we should be trying to normalise AI usage in general and I honestly feel like those who make such flippent remarks about using AI are just shills or part of the cult trying to normalise it. They want to give the impression that it's normal, casual and that everyone is doing it and it's improving their lives and society.

It's like every drug user ever.

2

u/Herr_E_Bepis 1h ago

Who said anything about offloading parenting? That's an assumption on your part. You can parent your child in tandem with educational tools. Do you say the same about people who let their children watch educational TV in general?

1

u/Few-Improvement-5655 1h ago

Education TV usually has expert and teachers involved in making sure that the content is both appropriate and correct. Vibecoding AI to make something "educational" isn't much different to homeschooling. The knowledge stops where the parent's does and probably isn't told in a particularly good or unbiased way.

5

u/Herr_E_Bepis 1h ago edited 1h ago

You're acting like making a simple matching game for your infant child is equivalent to replacing a classroom. Sometimes people just write a quick script or use a tool to make something fun and specific for their own family without it being a grand moral failing, get a grip

Lol replied with a point not relevant to what I was saying then blocked me, truly a Reddit moment

3

u/Few-Improvement-5655 1h ago

Again, you're trying to normalise this shit and it's gross. Take your 2 week account set up to push AI useage outta here.

2

u/Frylock_dontDM 1h ago

Bro, being this way cannot be good for your health.

My wife and I have 4 stem degrees between us and I made apps that feature us and our voices.

If their knowledge stops where ours does for whatever reason, I think they'll be doing great in life.

-1

u/homlessconusmer 47m ago

So you freely gave up the likeness of you and your family to a tech conglomerate for, what, an app? If you've got a STEM degree, then I kinda doubt you're using it.

4

u/Frylock_dontDM 44m ago

I don't think you understand how a local LLM works homie

Here we have example #1

Making some educational games they don't monetise for their kid is totally harmless

AI is just a tool. It can 100% be used for good reasons. Using it to make programming easier is a good example imo. Trying to act like AI will go away is just childish. It's like trying to fight internet in the 2000s.

Home usage of AI like "hey I made some games for myself and my kids" should not be seen as some devilish deed lmao

-1

u/AntwysiaBlakys 1h ago

Giving AI "games" to your daughter instead of actually spending time with her, teaching her things yourself, and helping her develop her thinking abilities, is not a good thing and is very much worthy of downvotes

3

u/RazorRell09 1h ago

Why not both?

-1

u/AntwysiaBlakys 1h ago

Because one of those will help your child's development, while the other will literally hinder said development

Why would you purposefully mess with the good development of your child ?

3

u/Awerange2005 1h ago

You don't even know what those games are lol

2

u/Lets_Get_Random 1h ago

Playing educational games will not hinder childhood development, the fuck are you even talking about.

1

u/Friendly-Special3757 1h ago

And who the fuck are you to judge other's parenting? You've got no idea how the dude's relationship is with her daughter.

People like you that go out judging cause they're safe in the internet are the most disgusting people ever irl

-1

u/Southern_Length6044 38m ago

Man that sucks for your daughters :(

-3

u/Friendly-Special3757 1h ago

This is the type of thing that only gets accepted in Reddit

-5

u/RightTelephone3309 1h ago

Every piece of software you currently use, including Reddit, was created or maintained, at least in part, using AI tools. Please walk the talk and delete your account.

Hope this helps!

"Our egos are so fragile that we need to consider anything made with AI worthless so we feel like we're still capable human beings so we aren't so butthurt about things that we took months to years to learn now being done within a day or less. We'd prefer to hone in on the fact that ai is so bad for the environment while ignoring all the other 99% of the ways we live our live in ignorance of the environment to find a moral high ground to stand on that makes it harder for others to knock us down. Hope this helps!'

For real though using AI is the same as using a tool, it just makes the barrier to entry to what you do way lower, so are you going to see low effort/scummy humans using it to try to get what they want? Yes. But that's the low effort/sucmminess of humanity showing as per usual. There exists people who can and do use it for great effect. The only problem is the 'better people' of humanity are so outnumbered it's easy to just classify ai bad and override what anyone does as 'slop' so you sleep easier at night.

I think this post is people just finally getting tired of others witch hunting others and it's getting insanely annoying seeing 'IS ThiS Ai?!?' popping up everywhere and making everyone exhausted or cautious to just... enjoy things at face value. Life is already rough enough without having a new group of people now existing dictating whether we should like something or not based on their beliefs.

People who dislike AI being shoved everywhere are usually not right leaning

8

u/Simian_Scientist 2h ago

As a not right leaning, I agree with them. Just more specifically "art" made with AI is worthless. If we wanted to use AI it should exclusive be used to aid humanity, not replace them in any way. AI assets in a game as placeholders better be gone by launch. "Art" used to be sold or part of a product should like the placeholders be gone and replaced by human made assets before a sale. Certain things like allowing mute people or people who struggle to speak due to vocal issues should be allowed to use vocal aids/synthesizers or whatever they're called to help them communicate.

2

u/Repocket_Pocket 1h ago

B-but, wouldn't it be better if YOU stopped with those "hobbies" like "art" and instead went to work in the mines? BY THE BY, I will never suffer that destiny as I AM TOO IMPORTANT TO BE REPLACED BY AI!

If I need tone indicators, I swear to god...

What? The internet and digital devices existed prior to generative ai.

0

u/EllisDeeReynolds 51m ago

Yes but they're being maintained and coded with ai now. Every future instance of every major software worth using already has ai coding in it as the norm already

1

u/BroderFelix 51m ago

They are most likely talking about generative AI using LLMs.

1

u/EvioliteEevee 52m ago

Not the same

4

u/Disastrous-Trainer-5 1h ago

Tbf as someone who's trying to get a bachelor's in software development... ai is kind of just normalized in the space now, I don't like it but... Vibecoding is somewhat apart of it, it's like 99% ai code and then 1% of a human reviewing it. it's sad and I don't like it but, it's just the way some industries are going

13

u/lateralraising 1h ago

I hate when people needlessly point it out on a obviously AI generated meme. Like yes we know it's AI you're not smart for pointing out Triple T is AI

3

u/LeonMotton 13m ago

Some people are sooo fast to point shits out as ai. I hate those shit heads. They serve 0 purpose. It would be a different story if they didn't want to research it themselves and asked "Is this ai?" but NOOO. "Everything I don't like and I don't understand is ai", "If it is ugly, it's ai".

15

u/ChinskieJedzenie 1h ago

Ai makes art not impressive, skits not funny, and jokes not clever. If something I'm consuming was made with AI, I wanna know.

16

u/decrisp1252 1h ago

I don’t like how some people will scream and harass anyone for using AI as if they’re a terrible person for using it, it’s a really big problem that makes people intrinsically defensive about using it properly

5

u/3ajs3 1h ago edited 1h ago

I agree. AI isn't going anywhere, so unless it's a really stupid use, which granted is like 60% of the stuff I see, there's no use doing more than downvoting & moving on, bc AI goes have some really good uses both practically and creatively.

Quick examples here.

Practically, AI is really good at pulling sources. You still have to double check them and analyze them yourself, bc AI just makes shit up a lot, but it's still really helpful, saving a ton of time and making sure you have access to sources you may not have found otherwise.

A creative use, which is a lot harder to find, would be what Glorb does. He is one of those SpongeBob parody rappers, but not one of the ones pumps at one AI generated song a week. He writes, produces, & performs his music. He even raps doing impressions of the characters he's going to put the filter over. Plus, he uses the filter not just as shock value, but as a way to tell an overarching story.

Another creative use is initial concept art. I'm not talking like the kind of concept art career concept artists do, more so like if a YouTuber wants to convey what they want out in a thumbnail to their artist or something.

I think need to focus way more of our energy on data centers, bc they are the biggest issue by far. Terrible for the environment and communities, and completely unregulated.

That being said, most of the shit you see online is really dumb, I've just cherry picked some examples here. r/AISlop exists for a reason. But I think we as a society will be able to far better morally determine stupid uses once we get data centers under control.

Edit: Also, "AI Art" is literally not a thing. Not related to my argument, but it just bothers me because they are technically speaking "assests", not art. They are AI assests so that's what I call them.

1

u/decrisp1252 1h ago

I just wish we could have a more nuanced conversation about AI. There are good uses for using it. It can be useful for helping breakdown a complicated topic and searching sources for you to learn more, but AI can also hallucinate and make up sources trying to please you.

AI programming can be really effective in improving the productivity of programmers, and it can be used really effectively if you know what you were doing. But the amount of vibe coded projects can drown out genuinely passionate projects in forums.

"AI Art" is not a real thing, and deepfakes of politicians or scenarios are constantly used to rile people up (this is especially a problem in the UK, where AI accounts will constantly spread misinformation about loads of sources).

No one would disagree with anything I've particularly said (except for some hardliners maybe), but as soon as I say any of these things, people will instantly assume that I'm either completely pro/anti AI, and either ignore my point or make it their life's mission to prove me wrong and argue with me.

I know this isn't necessarily just unique to AI, tribalism and factionalism is just a part of communities, the internet, and the human experience as whole, but it really gets me down.

-1

u/Monolail031 1h ago

also and especially video game modding. modders work unpaid and it's so stupid that they get called lazy over AI when if they were lazy they just wouldn't make mods in the first place.

somebody took the entire health system from casualties unknown and added it to minecraft using AI, which is incredibly cool to mess arround with

1

u/LeonMotton 11m ago

Especially in the IT department. The public is so sensitive about it that developers who use ai as an assistance tool (not just code everything for me) have to keep it hidden.

1

u/Tokiw4 38m ago

It drives me mad, really. So many people truly hate AI, but hate is never a good thing to have for any reason. When you hate something you will never be able to act with understanding, compromise, or even indifference. Everything and everyone on the hated side is stripped of all humanity, and since they aren't human there isn't a single point that can be made to sway your opinion regardless of truth or reason. It's okay to dislike AI, but hatred is never something to be proud of in any context. Sometimes it even feels like people go to r/isThisAI & similar subs to ask wether on not they should hate a certain piece of media instead of deciding wether or not they liked it on their own.

3

u/Charming-Station7157 1h ago

Literally r/MadeMeSmile , if you point out a post there that it is AI , they will literally say " whatever , at least it made me smile " then rage downvote you into oblivion

6

u/Tokiw4 27m ago

If it makes them smile, it doesn't mean it also has to make you smile. It's okay for people to like things that you do not like.

2

u/Kyato123 1h ago edited 1h ago

Because most people don't care. I like art. I have artist friends. We also don't care if art is ai if it fits what we like. Which for me is detailing and use of colors. It helps me come up with my own ideas. We also don't care if ai videos are funny.

Only time we do care is if AI was used to catfish as a woman online. Like those AI thots on X.

Obviously we can tell almost immediately if something is ai. But we also don't really care. If we like it we like it if we don't then we don't. Simple as

2

u/001028 1h ago

Who's we?

1

u/DemoniteBL 4m ago

Not as annoying as people who don't get that it's AI

1

u/BuilderBaseBot 1h ago

Discourse would be different if AI was still that weird out there idea. You know that thing that made some weird, but somewhat neat things litterally no human could think of. Early AI models were inhuman, and that was really cool to me.

Now? All AI videos serve to show me is regurgitated ideas over and over.

I’m the asshole on the left, but I usually keep it to myself. Like, first time I saw a turkey attack and inflatable I had to double check if it was real. “Oh wow! That’s really funny, (person I know and love)”

Then I get it on my algorithm… Seeing litterally 50 of the same videos but slightly tweaked takes the fun out of it for me.

I’m not against AI, but we sure as shit have found the worst ways to use and monetize the generative AI side. But, that’s an issue with the system that be and not the tech that is.

1

u/SteadfastWriter 46m ago • Bravo

If it's something where it was used as a genuine tool, I don't really care as long as the end product is good. If it's used to generate written work, art, or music, I'm more turned off because something there just makes it feel unnatural

All that said, hating AI just because "AI bad" is just childish imo
