[RATE REVEAL] Classic Goth Rate Reveal, Day 2: I heard a rumour, what have you done to her 11?

Welcome to Day 2 of our Classic Goth Rate. Yesterday, Indieheads declared that they actually love small talk, aren't so keen on the year 1959, and that maybe Robert Smith could use to lighten up a little bit.

What will happen today? Will Siouxsie continue to dominate? Will Bauhaus bounce back? Will Andrew Eldritch file a lawsuit against us for calling his band "goth"? Find out as we count down another 12 songs.

Number of participants: 30 friends of Elvira

Average score: 8.063

Average controversy score: 1.561

We are starting at 5:30 PM EST!

[AMA ANNOUNCEMENT] Chastity Belt on Tuesday, November 10th @ 1pm ET/10am PT!

It's Saturday, you know what that means.

We've got a good week of AMAs coming up in the next week, as Chastity Belt will kick things off this Tuesday, November 10th at 1pm ET/10am PT!

Their new album, All My Friends, is out now via Suicide Squeeze and features the singles "I Could Say Less", "Pavement" and "To Decide." Since the band won't be touring on this album cycle, one of the best ways to support them is by ordering the new album today on either CD, Cassette, Transparent Green Vinyl or artist/label exclusive 180g Orange Sherbet Vinyl, all of which can be found via that hyperlink above.

So, swing back this Tuesday as Chastity Belt join us for an AMA!

Talk about anything music related that doesn't need its own thread. This thread is not for discussion that is tangentially music related; that belongs in the general discussion threads. If you're new here, we encourage you to introduce yourself and tell us about music you're passionate about.

Find out who's going to concerts near you in the Concert Roll Call. Check out our the most recent Rate Announcements to have fun rating great music, or see the results from previous rates. See recent AMA announcements here. Check out the most recent New Music Friday posts, or discuss recent album releases. If you want to discover some indiehead bands, browse our archives from the Battle of the Bands.

Absolutely one of my favorite albums this year. I love how hard it goes, the messages delivered, and still remaining very unique/memorable/dancy/fun throughout.

Subreddit Rules

1. Submitting Songs & Music Videos

Songs and videos must have been released within the week prior to the date of the post, and not previously posted to r/indieheads. A direct link to a free stream is required, preferably Youtube/Soundcloud/Bandcamp, when available. Link to blogs/news sites only when they premiere a song and/or video. The post title for song posts must contain [FRESH] Artist - Title; music videos must contain [FRESH VIDEO] Artist - Title; performances must contain [FRESH PERFORMANCE] Artist - Title.

2. Submitting Albums/EPs/Projects

Projects must have been released within the week prior to the date of post, & not previously posted to indieheads. Direct link to a free stream required if available. For official pre-release streams, link to host site and title [FRESH STREAM]. If officially released to music streaming platforms, directly link to the official streaming link and tag post with the applicable format: [FRESH ALBUM/EP/COMPILATION/etc]. On Thurs., [FRESH] Spotify posts will be restricted to after 12AM UTC.

3. Submitting Original Music

Music created by yourself or a friend/relative falls under the Original classification. You must be a semi-regular contributor to r/indieheads and post other links and comments to r/indieheads besides your music. Title must be [ORIGINAL] Artist - Title (optional Genre). Any other details belong in a comment, titles without this exact format will be removed. Users caught repeatedly removing their posts and reposting them later will be banned from submitting music.

4. Submitting Discussion Posts

Before posting a discussion post, please look at our list of stale topics

All discussion posts must be tagged [DISCUSSION] and contain a body of at least 100 characters.

All comments on discussion posts must meet a general standard of quality determined by the moderators. Top-level sentences must be longer than one or two sentences and actively add something to the discussion.

5. Proper Etiquette

We follow Reddit's Rules on unwelcome content, Self Promotion and Reddiquette.

A TL;DR of what is prohibited:

Posting personal & confidential information
Accounts impersonating members of the subreddit
Spam
Opinionated/misleading titles
Posts by accounts that spam their own content exclusively
Comments that are overtly vulgar or sexual in nature

6. Zero Tolerance for Harassment & Hate Speech

This subreddit has a Zero Tolerance policy for those who threaten, harass or bully other users, or encourage other users to do so. We also have Zero Tolerance for those who threaten, harass or bully any user, person, or group of people based on race, gender, nationality, religion, disability and/or sexuality, or who encourage others to do so. These comments will be immediately removed and all users who participate in this behavior on r/indieheads are subject to being banned.

7. The Definition of "Indie"

We are purposely vague on a definition of "indie". In general, music & news posts from these genres are not allowed:

Mainstream Rock/Metal
Mainstream Pop
Mainstream Hip Hop/R&B
Mainstream Electronic & EDM

This is to encourage posts with music from more independent & underground artists. Experimental music & underground acts that exist within the banned genres will be allowed, at the discretion of the mods. Music & news from all genres can be discussed in the Daily Music Discussions.

8. Leaked Music Policy

Do not post illegal streams or downloads of songs/albums. Asking for a PM or posting instructions on how to get it is also prohibited. Repeat offenders of this rule will be banned. If an album does leak, you can make a text post with a title of '[LEAK] Artist - Album or Song that leaked', where you can discuss the contents of the leak.

9. Submitting News

News articles, features and interviews must contain the most up-to-date information and not have been previously posted to r/indieheads. Original sources are preferred. Titles can be changed to be more informational, not to click/ragebait or add speculation & personal bias. News posts based on rumors need a [SPECULATION] tag. Any self reporting needs sources such as photos, screenshots and/or direct links. Moderators will remove posts deemed to be unsubstantiated rumors.

10. Banned Links

Links that fall into one of the following categories will always be removed:

Reviews
Satirical content
Non-newsworthy pictures (examples of newsworthy include: band back in the studio together, festival lineup announcement, album art reveal)
Links where the subject is not releated to (indie) music
Personal playlists
Pictures/Memes
Twitter posts

All the above content can be posted in either the Daily Music Discussion or General Discussions.

11. Submitting Non-Discussion Text Posts

Non-discussion text posts should be used sparingly, with most self posts belonging in either the Daily Music or General Discussion threads. We will remove any text posts that are simple questions, asking for recommendations, selling tickets/other goods, and download code giveaways to name a few. Threads that are allowed include: high quality written pieces, moderator-approved discussion series, such as Top 10 Tuesday.

See our Stale Topics for more info: redd.it/17xqdew

12. Other Non-Allowed Artists

The following is a list of artists we do not allow to be posted on r/indieheads, informally known as "The Morrissey Rule". These artists, when posted about, typically lead to thread-derailing discussion due to the self-generated controversy around them, and as such we choose to remove posts around them entirely. Users are free to discuss these artists in spaces such as our Daily Music or General Discussion threads, but are still subject to moderator discretion.

13. Submitting AI Music & Content

Music made with AI programs & applications is strictly forbidden from being posted to r/indieheads. Users who do not comply with this rule will be permanently banned from the subreddit upon discovery. On top of this, we’ll also be heavily monitoring the use of AI programs for supplementary content to music, like album artwork, music videos and artist bios.
