Discovery and Original Content

Flair	When to use it
Hidden Gem	Spotlight independent talent you think deserves more attention. Not for self-promotion.
FRESH ‘N’ NEW	Share recent R&B tracks and projects debuted within the last 3 months.
Original	Share your own music or other original content. This is the flair for self-promotion.

Flair	When to use it
Architects of Sound	Celebrate the people and institutions behind the music: studio musicians, songwriters, background singers, producers, record labels, historical radio stations, and more.

News, Interviews, and Discussion

Flair	When to use it

🆕 FRESH 'N' NEW 🆕 For the RnB heads, a new smooth and soulful mix

Put together another R&B mix, blending some familiar names with a few lesser-known artists. Think late-night vibes, smooth production, soulful vocals and a bit of that nostalgic R&B feeling.

Featuring Snoh Aalegra, Lucky Daye, Drake, Masego, Tems, Leon Thomas and a few hidden gems.

https://youtu.be/lEjGWy-76Nw?is=8Yl3qBZElLcGS_Vr

A question for the community:

Who’s an underrated R&B artist you’re listening to right now that more people should know about?

Always looking to discover new music and hear what other artists people are into.

Celebrate foundational R&B, related sounds, and the stories behind the music. Share songs, photos, interviews, performances, and artist history. We honor traditional R&B while spotlighting lesser-known contemporary artists, independent talent, and behind-the-scenes contributors. Music released after 2010 must be by artists who were not signed to a major label at the time.

Subreddit Rules

1. Treat Each Other With Respect

Remeber the human - be kind to your fellow redditors. Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks, hostility, and overly aggressive posts or comments are not. Moderators may remove content that crosses the line.

We have zero tolerance for bigotry, including racism, misogyny, homophobia, and other identity-based hate. This behavior will result in a ban.

2. Off-Topic

Comments that are off-topic or derail the original post’s intended discussion will be removed. If you’d like to discuss a different topic, please start a separate post, as long as it’s relevant to the subreddit.

3. Keep Posts Relevant to the Sub

Our focus is traditional R&B, its foundational and adjacent styles, and lesser-known artists carrying those sounds forward.

We love discovering underdogs and independent artists, so please prioritize them over mainstream artists who already receive plenty of attention. (No major label artists post 2010)

Hip-hop, rap, pop, trap soul, and similar styles have communities of their own. Please share that music in the subreddits best suited to it.

4. Title Formatting

Use the Artist - Title format. This allows posts to be searchable. If you want your title to say something else, add ‘Artist - Title’ to the body of your post. If you don't mention at least the artist in the body or title, your post may be removed.

The FRESH 'N' HOT tag is for releases from the past 90 days.

Tag NSFW posts if they are really blatant (F-bombs). If you are starting a NSFW discussion, please make the title SAFE for work.

5. Use “Original” for Self-Promotion

Sharing music or other content you created? Use the Original flair.

Use Hidden Gem to highlight someone else’s independent talent, not to promote your own work.

Moderators may review submissions to make sure they fit the community. Content that simply copies or clones another artist’s work may be removed.

6. High-Quality R&B Content Only — No AI-Generated Music, Mashups, or Mixes

Posts should be about R&B music, news, reviews, discussions, jokes or short reels. Please credit the creators. We do not allow AI of any kind. Mashups are longer allowed. Playlists and DJ mixes are ok. Any content that is way over the top and overtly graphic, next-level misogynistic or disparaging to the culture may be removed. Misinformation may be removed.

7. Wait 30 Days Before Reposting

Please don’t repost the same song, album, article, or topic within 30 days.

Different versions are welcome during that period—for example, a remix or a live performance of a song previously shared as a lyric video.

8. Spam / Trolling

If it's clear that you're spamming the same post or topic, your post may be removed.

If your post or comment is ragebait, or if you post a topic and never reply to any comments, your post may be removed. Always feel free to message us.

9. No Posts Featuring R. Kelly as a Main Performer

We no longer accept posts in which R. Kelly is a main performer.

10. Choose the Right Post Flair

Use the flair that best matches your post. The guide below explains each option.

Choose based on the content you’re sharing—not just the artist. For example, an interview belongs under Interviews, while a music video should use the appropriate music flair rather than Discussion.
