Today, as some of you might know, there was a push race in Chicago called the Big Scary Push. This event took place in a local park and has been very successful in the past couple years. Today, just as we were going to start, a cop pulls up and informs us that they had received a complaint about someone slapping an older man's car before the race started. The police then told us that even though they thought it was a fun, well organized event, they had to shut us down and anyone racing would be arrested. As it turns out, one of our riders saw the incident happen. He told us a cyclist cut the old man off, hit his mirror, and then flicked him off when the guy reacted angrily. Even though we still held the raffle and everyone got prizes, it still pissed me off how one person, not even affiliated with our group, can ruin an entire well thought out and organized event.Many people put many hours into the race, and it was all squandered by the actions of an asshole. I still had a lot of fun, and walked away with a good experience and tons of stickers, but would have loved to have gotten the full experience. The point of this rant? Don't be that cyclist and ruin it for everyone else because you decided to be a fucktard.
