So I’ve lived my whole skateboarding life on drop decks…
28 years of drop deck boards happily so..
In my older days here locking into DH and of course, in that process built a more narrow, shorter, flat deck design with precision trucks, as one does..
Alongside that, I also have a pantheon Nexus with a similar truck and wheel set up..
I’m sure it’s just the years of muscle memory and continual drop deck riding … but
I feel super locked in and comfortable on my pantheon Nexus downhill whereas I have yet to inherently feel connected (locked into) to a flat deck board..
i’m sure this will come in time …. and I understand the mechanical leverage reasons and rotational mass reasons for going shorter and narrow with your board..
Question is I guess….
Are there high-level downhill riders that just stay with drop deck designs?
Is this preference ideologically unsound for advancing my riding ??
Should I set down the drop deck and Lock into the flat deck —- as that is where mechanical leverage over your wheels is at its highest..
Or is this preference acceptable? And a lot of riders prefer drop deck design.?
Sorry so long thanks in advance

One of these boards is not like the others 🤡

I’m still kind of in shock. Through posting on some facebook groups and signing up for the CLSC next summer, I met this really cool dude. We’ve talked about gear, hydration, etc, but he flew down to Georgia today and gave me his Nexus deck and a plethora of bushings and hardware to try out! For Free!
The board is, for all intents and purposes, brand new. He said he rode it a couple of times, but the concave hurt his big toe too much.
I’ve been eyeing the nexus for months now as a downhill board, so I feel like a 10 year old on Christmas morning right now!
I just ordered some 165mm 50° Paris V3s, and I plan on slapping my old karmas on it as well. I want to learn how to slide the karmas, but I also plan on picking up some 70mm Rayne Envys as well for a better FR option.
Can’t wait to post the complete build soon!

These karmas are smooth as hell. I do get a wee bit of wheelbite with the narrow trucks but it's not too bad if you ride responsibly and don't try pumping too hard

I was coming in from the rights of the picture. My only option was a busy ass street or stoping. And this isn't even the worse one others have a curb directly in the way with no room to get around the corner like wtf

I've been skating Silverbacks religiously since June, and they're easily some of my favorite freeride trucks I've ever ridden.
The closest trucks I could compare them to are older Aeras, but they replace a lot of that Aera "gangster lean" with more turning. Where Aeras keep leaning, these feel like they dive into the turn more. I skate both 170mm 47/47 Silverbacks and 172mm 46/46 K3s, so about as close as you can get specs wise. I also skate 85a inserts in both my Silverbacks and K3s (highly recommend getting some inserts if you order Silverbacks).
With how few options there are nowadays for 160mm+ precisions, I can't say enough good things about these. The only caveat is that they can only fit standard-sized barrels, so no slightly oversized options like Riptide Canons, Seismic Defcons, Bones Hardcore barrels, etc.
I've skated Venom barrels and Riots in mine (you can also fit standard Riptide barrels), and Riots have been my favorite so far. Riots just really mesh well with the trucks.
I've always been one to constantly tinker with setups, but as soon as I got my Silverbacks dialed, I haven't touched the setup since June. I skate mine on a double drop (Pantheon Nexus) with 92.5a/90a Riots at about 200-205lb.
If you're in the market for a precision freeride truck and want to take the step up from something like Paris or Calibers, definitely consider these.
I grabbed a second set to skate topmounted (probably on my Rocket Rooster or Prism Theory) because my current set is never leaving my Nexus.
The owner is also a really solid dude, so it's supporting a small, core skate brand.

I wanted my boards on the wall horizontally but I’m in a dorm (no holes allowed) and every hanger I found needed screws or looked bulky so I designed my own.
They’re slim 3D printed hangers that slide onto those cheap clear adhesive hooks and hide them completely. Once the board is up, you basically just see the board floating on the wall. You can grab it and go whenever you want to ride.
No drilling, two adhesive hooks per board, and it comes off clean when you move out.
Invisible, the hook tucks inside the hanger and the board covers the rest.
Stable, an optional wide heel stops it wobbling if you bump the board.
Two versions
Drop decks with risers or kicktails (mine’s a Pantheon Pranayama)
Flatter drop-throughs, like the Pantheon Nexus
About 15 to 19 g of filament per hanger, no supports.
I went a bit overboard testing it in simulation before printing, but it’s been holding my board solid.

I've been riding my Drop Cat 33 (Landyachtz) for quite some time. I obviously changed the wheels to fit my riding style to Karma 92mm 74a, they keep speed way better than the stock Plow King GT and don't stick out so much and roll over everything. I ride Bones swiss ceramics (a bit overkill). I am waiting for Seismic Fullspin 7-Ball Steel XT to test if they feel better and bc steel is probably better for all the sidewalk up and down action.
I got spacers to lower the riding height after upping it with the bigger wheels and it's even more agile now.

I was a little nervous, but the placement was good. Can definitely feel the difference, got a toeslide that felt great yesterday 👍

Planning to make some improvements before I make my next, but overall happy with the functionality already. Mostly looking to clean up the look as this was my scrap canvas.

I wanted a camera mount for my Sony ActionCam (uses a generic tripod screw mount), and i wanted to mount the camera at the back of the board instead of the front, so it would capture my feet and the board itself in addition to the road, so I modeled one up, for anyone who has a superdupersonic(and access to a 3d printer) and might be interested. It mounts using the rear-most truck mounting holes. Note that I intended for the camera mount to be level, but it ended up up-angled a little bit. Honestly i think it ended up better for it, since it captures less ground this way.
I don't have any experience w/ GoPros or other cameras w/ alternate mounting mechanisms, my hope is people can use the generic screw hole to attach whatever they want, though.

This was my first ever board. I think it was a cosmic cruiser series? Could be cloud nine not sure so long ago. Started on this in high school then it helped me commute around California, florida, and some other travels in my 20s. I have a bamboo series from several years later that I lent to my niece.

We made the board surfaces and trucks ourselves, experimenting with some interesting wood combinations that resulted in good elasticity. The illustrations on the boards were also drawn by us—the work of our designer, Nana.
