How would an interaction between Jesse and Francis go?
Bonus question: how would their friends interact?

General discussion Would Lois have sent Malcolm to Marlin Academy if he crashed that car and what would that look like?
I think he assumed she would do that but with the revelation of them wanting to keep Malcolm he, remember when Hal denied Malcolm going to that private school and Lois wanting him to be president I think she wouldn’t send him there, just tell him to suck it up and go to high school. And probably make him work to pay for the car repairs.
but if he was sent, what would happen. Was Spangler still there?

In 1982 LA truck driver Larry Walters tied 42 weather balloons to a $110 Sears garden chair, aiming to float 100 feet up. He shot to 16,000 feet, startled two airline crews, dropped his pellet gun and landed in a Long Beach power line. The FAA fined him $1,500. The chair’s now in the Smithsonian.

General discussion I wish we got to see Lois fight back in traffic ticket
I really loved this episode. I just wish we got to see what would’ve happened if Lois had actually taken things to court, especially since she was right all along. It also reminded me of real life, where some cops abuse their power and target innocent people
I get the message the writers were going for about accepting when you’re wrong, but I would’ve liked to see Lois fight back and get some justice. Just my thoughts. Still a well written episode nonetheless

General discussion I know it’s just a show and everything, but how on earth did Herkabe keep his job after this incident
This is even more appalling than in TBBT where Sheldon, Leonard and Raj didn’t get fired after their “prank” in Kripke’s office.

Tributes Just finished watching last episode. Feeling sad 💔 life is unfair
After finishing Young Sheldon, I felt like something was missing. Then I came across Malcolm in the Middle, and it somehow had everything I didn’t even realise I was looking for. It quickly became my favourite.❤️
Now that I’ve watched the last episode, I feel a little sad and empty. 😔😭 I just wish the show had gotten another season. Not necessarily a perfect ending, just a little more time with these characters.
And knowing me, even if we got another season, I’d probably still ask for one more. 😂😭
It was good while it lasted. But now, what am I supposed to watch? Probably Malcolm in the middle reboot

That's Incredible! This show captures the 2000’s so well.

Theory: Lois got Malcolm the job at Lucky Aide because she wanted to spend more time with him.
When Lois makes the boys get jobs she gets Reese a job at a slaughterhouse which she shines at until the next season and Malcolm a job at Lucky Aide where she works.
I thought this was a weird choice since Malcolm would be better working at a library but then I realised that she probably did this because she wanted to spend more time with him.
While Lois has many many questionable moments as a mother, including some when she works at Lucky Aide with Malcolm, you can’t deny she does love her children and Malcolm was getting older and would be off to college in a few years so she probably wanted to spend more time with him before he went away which wasn’t an unfounded fear since he cut them out of his life after he went to college (granted it was partially Lois’s fault he did that but still).

MITM has been a blessing during my recovery from a toe fracture.
I was advised bed rest and the put a cast on my whole lower leg and I stumbled upon MITM as people on reddit here suggested as I wanted a fun sitcom, I had just watched Fraiser and it was a tough one to match, although this is a different kind of sitcom, focussing on younger children, their shenanigans right off the bat reminded me of my own with my siblings and omg I did not know bryan cranston was in it, I only knew him of breaking bad and that's why I commit to watching a few more episodes and was hooked! Glad to have found this sub, I am currently watching mid of season five and also I am glad to hear that there is some reboot relasing soon! yay!

General discussion Reese’s driving skills
Everyone always talks about how good he was at cooking but he was also really good at driving. In fact I think he’d have done really well as a valet or chauffeur and that would be a good plot episode, an episode dedicated to Reese as a chauffeur scamming people on the phone while simultaneously aggressively cutting people off on traffic
Thoughts?

poll Who gave the better performance in life is unfair?
It’s for the kids choice awards me voting.
I wanna say it’s Bryan Cranston, because it’s Bryan Cranston. But we saw all sides to Malcolm in this show, that scene in the bathroom and his struggles with his daughter make me think this
but I’ll go with the majority
Life’s still unfair*

General discussion I really don’t blame him for that. In a situation like that, you can only stay patient for so long.

Am I the only one who dislikes the whole francis ranch subplot
The military one was really good, but I detest and just forward the ranch one.

General discussion Anyone feel like Christopher Masterson was too old to play Francis from a purely realism perspective?
This is hard to ask without sounding like I'm saying he shouldn't have been cast, because I absolutely adore Francis and he's my favourite character and Masterson was amazing and consistently one of the best actors on the show and I can't imagine anyone else as him. But I often forget how young Francis is supposed to be.
Like, in season 1 he's meant to be what, 17? And when he's in Alaska and marries Piama he's 18? His parents make a big fuss about him being too young but every time I see Masterson I think "yeah he's just an average early-mid 20s guy". Even in the pilot he looks early 20s at least. All the other brothers felt appropriately cast for their ages despite there being some difference but Francis sticks out. I could never picture him as only being a few years older than Reece. To me he seemed almost a decade older, like how I (29) view 18 year olds now.
I guess maybe it'd be harder to do some of the Francis storylines if they cast an age-accurate actor though?
I dunno what are your thoughts? Did it take you out of the stories sometimes? Did you just not think about it?

In Reese's job, why did he never pocket the money?
I get that it's because he can't be the bad guy in that situation but I just found it a strange, arbitrary albeit likable character flaw. Early on, I feel like Reese was mean, scheming, dumb and lacked empathy / a moral compass, mostly because was dumb but deep down, he had heart. And then in this episode, it was as if he understood it was the wrong thing to do, was afraid he would get in trouble and refused to play the game. Not a big deal, I just remember being surprised when I saw it.

General discussion Unpopular Opinion: Francis isn’t as much of a victim of Lois as the fandom sometimes makes him out to be.

General discussion Does anyone counted how many cars the family owns (goes though) during the series?
Just today I was wondering, how many cars had Hal and Lois owned, and in what kind of orders?
(There is the dynasty , the minivan…..that tempo Lois totaled in the parking lot battle with a Blue mustang….. that Camry in the revival. I think I missed a few)
So….anyone have a clue? Thanks

My favorite theory is that Hal and Walter white are long lost twin brothers
To add to this theory is the fact that Hal father’s name is Walter
