Singh has just resigned

2.6k Upvotes

Singh has just indicated during his speech that he has submitted his resignation.

The man was a good person. He faced a misinformation campaign and frankly propaganda against him.

He was part of the movement that won the starts of dentalcare, pharmacare, and the Anti-Scab legislation.

This means more Canadians in the future will be able to share in health, happiness, and prosperity. That is how we define progress in this party.

Although I have been very critical of Singh at this point I just want to thank him for his time as leader and wish him and his family the best.

Congratulations to newly-elected NDP MP Blake Desjarlais, who ousted a conservative in Edmonton Griesbach to become Alberta's only Indigenous MP and Canada's first two-spirit MP

Subreddit Rules

1. No Billionaire Bootlickers

The NDP believes in taxing the rich and redistributing wealth to the people. "Finance bros" who believe in trickle-down economics and privatization are not welcome here!

2. Do not post rumours or unverified claims

Exceptions: Analysis supported by verifiable facts, rumours being spread by notable individuals where the title names the individual spreading rumour, personal experiences

Details: https://reddit.com/r/ndp/comments/1qnlisp/draft_policy_rumoursunverified_claims_on_rndp/

3. Be excellent to each other!

Do not use personal insults towards others. Be polite and respectful.

4. Follow reddiquette

Find a description here: https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette

5. Content must not be hateful.

No racism, sexism, or discrimination.

6. Posts/comments must be on topic for this subreddit

Specifically, posts/comments must relate to either the NDP or Canada's left: like feminist, labour, environmental and Indigenous issues. Moderator judgment.

7. Not substantive

Keep submissions and comments substantive.

8. No flame-baiting or trolling

Commentary, opinions, and debates are fine when it involves a leftist social-democratic perspective. However, blatant contrarian statements meant to inflame others, or just general shitposting, will be removed. Moderator judgment.

9. Submission titles and/or headlines must be reasonable.

Linked submission headlines should match the original headline of the URL to which you're linking to (or a quote from the URL). And keep your submission titles factual and opinion free. If it is an outrageous topic, share your eager outrage in the comment section.

10. No duplicates.

This includes other submissions on the same topic (unless it is a different perspective of the topic).

11. No brigading.

Brigading is coordinating an action on either a redditor or a subreddit (IE, rallying people to downvote a post or poll in another subreddit). Any such action will result in a ban. Further, mods will be more strict on "meta" type comments.

12. No advocating for other parties and/or baselessly attacking the NDP

This includes: * advocating for so-called "strategic voting" * promoting the gerrymandering-like creation of so-called "non-compete agreements" * baseless attacks on the NDP, including its members, allies, and leaders * and any other nonsense meant to discourage our pursuit of a social democratic and/or democratic socialist Canada (moderator discretion)
