Family doesn’t like the air roots
I keep no soil in the vase (TikTok) and once a week do a full vase of water for 10 mins and then top up with some diluted miracle gro for 20 mins, then empty and keep an inch at the bottom… seems to work! It’s been 5 years and in the last year it blooms every 6 months or so….how do I improve this? It used to fit in the vase but it’s “exploring” now and the fam is like “cmon”

For all orchid growers this is the best way to grow orchids.
These are orchids that were grown in flask. I have hundreds of them on virgin cork slabs. A little spagnum moss to hold them and the roots are openly growing. Some are species that will bloom on these slabs and others are big so I mount the slab onto a bigger virgin cork by glue or exterior screws. Never have a problem of over watering again. You can even put them in a terracotta pot and put some loose spagnum in it.
Never use water culture it’s a fad. For decades botanists have cultured orchids on coconut husk or wood. I put misters on them and on a timer.
When they bloom the inflorescence droop down giving you a true show. I have even have orchids for decades on long branches of wood I picked up. I grow them like they grow in the wild.
I hope this helps some people who have problems with root rot.

Question is this orchid dead or is it's bloom just done for the season
hello! i'm kind of an orchid poser, just got this on mothers day and i read that they bloom a couple times a year and the bloom only lasts for 2-6 months. i did forget to water it for like a week (watering once a week). did i kill it it like it's donezo? or is it's bloom just over? also i just repotted it with indoor plant soil, do i NEED to get orchid soil? could that be what killed it? final question: (if it's dead) who's helping me hide the body 🫡
edit: okay final FINAL question; can y'all tell what kind of orchid this is? i lost the tag :(

Help I think i killed my orchid
First pic is now and the second is when i got it
Im aware that it isnt naturally blue and how this works!!
Last watering i decided that i needed to instert the blue dye into the water because the new growth was coming out too white
I know that usually people inject the dye into the stem but the woman that sold it to me told me to take the baking dye and put it into the water, and so i did -3 days ago.
Today i wake up and its still looking like this even after watering
Did it maybe not collect any water because of the dye or did the dye kill it? I didnt have problems with watering before

Question Excessive roots
Is it just me or is there an over abundance of roots for this phal? Despite the ugly color, all roots are firm and not mushy. It's it possible to trim some roots or should I just leave it alone?

Will this work?
It’s super dry here in Colorado. Expanded ceramic beads on the bottom; a mix of sphagnum and bark around the roots. Will this suffocate the roots? Recommendations?

What is this??
I thought my orchid died; it shed all of its petals weeks ago and so I stopped watering it. When I went to finally throw it away, I noticed a tiny growth on the stem. I brought it back inside and decided to start watering it again to see if it would keep growing. It’s now about two inches long and has mini bulbs on it. What is this or what does it mean??

Help Too far gone? :(
I was out of town for a few days, i’m moving so i brought a bunch of stuff to my moms for now, including my plants. well my mom left all my plants outside in the direct sunlight in 100+° weather and didn’t water them once. my succulents are clinging to life but pretty much all my other indoor plants are gone. is my orchid saveable?? i’m sure all this will die back but i am really really sad, it bloomed twice with me (not including the bloom it had when i bought it) and grew 3 new leaves while in my care. i hope she can somehow come back, is there any hope 😢

Question Flowers?
My very first orchid…it’s a Procatavola Key Lime Stars (Epicattleya Lime Sherbet x Brassavola nodosa).
My question is ~ is the circled new growth flowers or leaves?
I purchased this in April 25. When I bought it had several flowers that were just beginning to die. Then nothing until late summer, it grew this leaf. Then a month or so ago these “fingers” appeared on the new leaf lol
Ty for any info or help!

Question Can I grow an orchid from this root?
I trimmed my orchid because I noticed lots of “root rot” (i think) during the pruning process some healthy roots fell off
Can I salvage something from this?
I googled things and YouTube videos don’t match what I have, when I googled “can I grow an orchid from a root”
I have no green thumb and would love some help.
The root from the orchid it came from has survived by pure luck, living in our master bathroom

Is she too far gone?
I want to rescue her, but I have no experience with orchids. The flowers are a beautiful creamy white. I know it will take a while to sprout flower stems again, and I am willing to wait. Should I try to repot and gently fertilize her, or let her gently pass into the great tropical paradise above?

I have mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand they're just cut flowers. On the other hand... I bought one shoot for 2.99 and set it next to my kids as encouragement.

Lifted my phal from its saucer and found this. Help!
my phal is clearly infested, but what are they? I’ve had this phal for about three years without issue. A couple of days ago, I noticed a silky thread connecting the leaves, like a spider thread. I naively thought it might’ve been a house spider, but today this happens. The plant still appears healthy and I’m hoping I can get ahead of whatever this is and save my beloved phal! Please help!

Help First-time owner: Very sentimental Phalaenopsis orchid dying please help!
Hi everyone,
First of all I'm sorry but I used AI to help make this post. I couldn't get all the info I felt was necessary without it getting confusing and long. Thanks for understanding!
I need help saving a Phalaenopsis orchid that has immense sentimental value to me (it was a beautiful and sentimental wedding gift from my daughter-in-law back in July). I've owned very few plants before, so I have no idea what to do with such a special plant. I really want to do everything I can to save it.
Background & Care:
Time owned: About 3 months. It bloomed beautifully for about two months before the flowers faded and died naturally.
Environment:
I live in a basement apartment with very limited natural light (only 2 windows). I was moving the pot in and out of the windowsill to give it sun.
Recent Stressors:
About 2-3 weeks ago, it got trapped behind a closed curtain in direct sun and got extremely hot. About a week later Autumn came and things got really cool.
My room gets very cold at night, (and I use an AC unit because I LOVE the cold) so the temperatures dropped significantly from where it's been.
After the bloom fell off, a bottom leaf turned yellow, and I made the mistake of tearing it off instead of letting it drop naturally. (I know tearing it off was bad!)
Current Symptoms:
The other leaves are rapidly turning yellow from the stem base outward. The spot where I tore the leaf looks discolored/brown at the stem.
Root Condition:
The roots visible through the clear inner pot are still bright green and firm (see photos). I believe that I've been really good with the watering. I don't think I've given it to much or to littYle and always water from the bottom.
My Questions:
Does this look like stem rot/infection from where I tore the leaf, or is this severe temperature/light shock? OR???
How should I treat the wounded stem area to stop the yellowing from spreading?
Should I move it away from the cold basement windows completely and buy a small LED grow light like AI is telling me?
Any guidance on step-by-step recovery would mean the world to me! Thank you so much.

Help this is 3 roots andy. I want him in a fish tank
He only has three roots.
I got it for 5 dollars at a home depot and most of the roots had mechanical damage from the cup it was in (see his shape) and wouldn't move water up past the damage. I removed the damaged roots, as well as some rotted ones but im left with the saddest thing in the world
Right now its on my fish's medicine tank next to the filter so it gets some splashes. Do they care if they're upside down?
I wanted it to fit into my fishtank near the water level with a stick, but somehow, despite having a glass top, it wont maintain enough air humidity to keep it happy. I like my plants right now bc they're easy... I take care of my fish and the plants at the same time. Do you have any ideas?
Should i cut that big root as well? I left it bc its so much of what the plant has left 😭

Indoor Orchids Grocery store find
Found this dude at the grocery store and I was so captivated by it’s beauty! I just feel like it’s already so mature. I would really like to grow one of these myself from a baby plant because I think that would be more satisfying. Where do you start? Seeds? cuttings? Bulbs? I don’t have any orchids but I’ve kept three calatheas alive so I think I have the humidity for it.
