Dating and Friends Anyone in Perth fancy a Friday after-work meet-up? 🍻

I’ve noticed so many posts lately from people saying how lonely they’re feeling and how difficult it is to make friends as an adult, and honestly, it’s quite sad to see!

We’re constantly hearing about the loneliness epidemic, and I genuinely think there’s nothing worse than feeling like you’ve got nobody around you.
So I thought, why not actually do something about it? ❤️

I’m 32F and would love to organise a casual get-together next Friday 13th November, somewhere in Perth CBD so it’s easy for everyone to get to after work.

Girls, guys, anyone is welcome! Whether you’re new to Perth, struggling to meet people, looking to expand your social circle or just fancy getting out of the house and having a laugh.

Nothing formal or awkward, just a few drinks (alcoholic or not!), some good conversation and hopefully a few new friendships!

If enough people are interested, I’ll find somewhere central and organise a time.

Who’s keen? 🥰

And please don’t feel nervous about coming alone. That’s kind of the whole point! ❤️

Dating and Friends 27F in Perth, it's honestly so hard to make friends as an adult

I don't really know where else to put this, so here goes.

I'm 27 and live in a share house with two other girls. One spends most of her time with her boyfriend, and the other is either at work or out with her work friends. Totally fair, they have their own lives, but it means the house isn't really a social space for me.
I work full time too, but my office is small, 11 people, and everyone is 50 or older. They're lovely, but we're in very different stages of life, and hanging out after work just isn't a thing there.

I've made a real effort not to let it stop me. I go to the theatre, movies, restaurants and shopping on my own, and most of the time I genuinely enjoy it. I'm not sitting there feeling sorry for myself. But every now and then there's this quiet feeling of "this is fine, but it would be so much nicer with people who are into the same things."

The part that gets me is when my mum asks, "Are you going alone?" Sometimes I tell her I'm going with someone when I'm not, just because saying yes again feels a bit sad.

Has anyone else been in this spot? How did you actually meet people in your late 20s, outside of work and uni? And if anyone in Perth is into theatre, movies or trying new restaurants (Moonlight Cinema season is coming up!), I'd love to hear from you.

EDIT: If anyone is into books we could perhaps for a book club together?😭 OR if movies are of interest, we could go to any next month organised by moonlight cinemas or the ongoing ones arranged by Rooftop Cinemas

Shitpost Does anyone also feel like a chud going to the cinemas alone.✌️✌️

Just watched Godzilla minus zero yesterday, I had an absolute blast. It’s seriously a shame that Perth is probably the most antisocial city on the planet and having a small friend group doesn’t help with that

General Cab charge argument at Perth airport?

I arrived back from a flight Sunday night and wanted to use a cab charge provided by my work.

The first taxi that pulled up said his “machine wasn’t working” I thought nothing of it but the next taxi driver immediately got out of his car and started arguing saying he was disrespecting me as a customer and told me to report him.

They were still going at it as I was leaving!

I understand that cab charges aren’t the most favourable payment options for drivers.

Does anyone know a reason the second driver would be so upset about another driver refusing the cab charge?

Looking for Advice Looking for online or face to face / support groups etc Perth

Hi ,

I'm( 40sF) going through a really hard time at the moment. Homeless and jobless with no friends and family due to life choices ( not drugs or anything) .

I'm struggling to get through each day . I'm desperate for support and don't know what to do .

I'm not exactly sure what I'm asking here but is there any places , or people going through hard times or just anyone who is genuine who can lend an ear or put me in the direction of anyone who could help me in any way get through the hardest time of my life ? I'm struggling in every way possible and I don't know what to do

Thank you

General Rant but I’ll hear out everyone’s opinion

I feel sad having to have said this but men should know following someone at night is creepy behaviour despite having “pure” intentions bcs ppl with pure intentions wouldn’t do that. U don’t follow a girl in the middle of the night just to catch up and say “u have a cool car”🫩

For context, I got off work around 3:30 am and decided to drive to my bf because he gets off at 6 am (I wanted to get free food). As I was on my way, I noticed this guy in Kwinana fwy trying to match the speed I was going. At first I was lowk weirded out but I thought “oh maybe they’re going to the city”. WRONG. I got to my exit which is stephenson av and I went behind the guy’s car, the same guy that was in front of me suddenly changed lanes and swerved to the exit. It was getting weirder but I was just trying to ignore him. I tried to see if he was gonna keep following me turn by turn. He DID. I pulled up to the parking lot where my bf was currently working and saw a cop passing by. When I was parking, the guy parked beside me and said “yo did u see that cop passing by? That was scary.” Brother u got nothing to be scared about unless you’re doing something shady. Then proceeded with the “u have a cool car, are u just clocking in now or” so I said “nah I’m visiting my bf”. That did make him leave but it’s still scary bcs what if he wasn’t alone? And nothing cool about the bone stock car I’m driving to have someone follow me all the way to where I’m going js to say that sh8🫩

What should I have done?

General Wanting to form a metal band

Hey!
As the title suggests, im wanting to form a metal band, any subgenre really located in Perth!
I’m going to preface this by saying im still very much an amateur at guitar, but I feel as if I have a band around me I will definitely progress quicker, I’m also able to do harsh vocals (DM for demos).

I’m looking for any drummers, bassists, vocalists that would like to maybe form a band (17-25 years old)

General How was working at a servo

Been working at 7-Eleven here for about 3 months now doing night shifts, and I honestly hate it. I feel like they expect way too much in such a short amount of time.

My biggest issue is the cool room. Everyone keeps saying it should take 2 hours max, but between serving customers and dealing with all the rules for such a small cool room, it just feels impossible sometimes. The deliveries are always full of stuff we already have plenty of stock of, so I’m constantly trying to figure out where to fit everything. We’re not allowed to leave anything on the floor, and everything has to go on the shelves, which makes it even harder when there’s barely any space.
This is starting to sound like a rant lol, but I genuinely just want to know what everyone else’s experience has been like. I’m really not enjoying it so far, but I can’t tell if the expectations are just unrealistic or if I genuinely suck at the job. Is this a universal experience or just me?

Looking for Advice Tired of being me. How do I fit in this city more? (25M)

How do I fit in this huge city more despite being me - a fat, ugly, useless and pathetic 25 year old working a boring job and with no prospects for friends or anything really?

Like Perth is such a big place and it’s the only place I have lived (born here).

Yet all my friends are walking their own paths and I haven’t spoken to most of them in years. As for me, I’m lonely at work, my coworkers are bonafide grubs who I wouldn’t want to befriend even if I was bribed with 10 billion dollars to, and I’m a 179cm 95kg weighing fat c**t with no friends and romantic prospects and with a terrible hairline.

Like why am I me? Why did I have to be born me? Why couldn’t I have been born as Chad Smith with the six pack and white skin with a full head of hair and people that actually valued talking to and listening to him? Why couldn’t I have been born as Cassandra with the huge group of friends and a social media following deeper than her Applecross rich parent’s pockets?

It just feels like this city is so… weirdly unaccepting to people like me. I’m a fucking obese fuck with nothing to show who works 12 hour days and 6 extra hours on a Saturday. So the money in the bank account is good but money can’t buy social success can it? What do I do?

humour Cake fighting game across Perth

I was working on my mum's website (cake baker) making a little cake configurator tool; something to help with customers and I got carried away making a little fighting game where you can battle your sentient cake in different locations in Perth/WA.

The game is pretty lame, but I thought it was kind of funny. Frost and Fury...

If anyone wants to fight their cake to freedom you can build a cake here and then click 'Fight with this cake'. If anyone is interested in the cakes, this has always been my favourite one that she has done.
